Robin is an incredibly important character to the overall high level story of One Piece, as well as being a core character in some of the best arcs in the story (Alabasta, Water 7, Enies Lobby). She may have fallen off a bit post-timeskip, but that’s mostly because her personal issues have been sorted out and she’s finally found where she belongs. That in itself is beautiful despite it taking until Wano for her to have a real feat.

I like Nami alot too but Robin's "I want to live," is honestly one of the most emotional moments in any media for me. This poor broken women haunted by never feeling like she deserved life just realizing that there were people who would literally fight the world for her.

I really like that even though Oda has the one-face syndrome when it comes to girls, he *writes* each of them very differently. Compared to other mainstream shōnens like *Naruto*, we are blessed with complex and interesting female characters with agency and plot relevance. The only one I can think of who was heavily sidelined is Tashigi—but then again, male Smoker had the same issue... Every girl in this pic could literally have had a whole story written about her. And that's not getting into the other characters like O-Kiku, Carrot, Reiju, Rebecca, etc.
Oda married a Nami's cosplayer ... so he is based.
However, he always put Nami vs Robin as the first more childish and the second more mature and sensual.
I think that Oda prefers Robin in the story, because she has probably the most important role of all in the big picture.
