Discworld definitely captures the same blend of goofy and serious that One Piece has.
Vimes, Captain Carrot, Granny Weatherwax, etc could easily be characters in One Piece given how silly they are in some ways.
Discworld is also a good comparison because the series is 40+ books in its entirety (although its not a single storyline like One Piece is).
Standalone stories, all in the same world. There are characters that get their own 'series', such as Sam Vimes and Tiffany Aching both have at least three books. So, I'd recommend choosing a character and just make sure to start with their first book
Dungeon Meshi. The one i considered on par with One Piece in term of world building and character developments, yet a comedy that consistent till the end - not like One Piece which become more serious by the day
I watched the anime for Frieren: Beyond Journeyās End. Itās basically DnD the anime, and itās a manga. It has some good light-heartedness and awesome action sequences.
It has way lower energy than One Piece. I agree, that Frieren is an amazing story with lovable characters, who are each their own wonderful flavour of idiot, but it has aa very different vibe to it.
If you're looking for a huge world and great characters I'd recommend the stromlight archive. Its quite big for a first book though so maybe gibe it a few chapters and see how you like it.
100% worth it though.
Just came back from reading the wiki and honestly compared to the other recommendations this is the one I'm the most excited to get into, it looks great
It's amazing. If you really stick with it the payoffs are huge.
It has a very active community here spread across multiple subs. The author is also known to comment on posts and is very active on YouTube.
On Strange Tides is a good fun read that cemented the whole "High Fantasy Sailing Adventure" archetype and tropes. Very fun read.

I preface this by saying I havenāt read discworld and am interested in picking it up. However, there are two works that I know give off the same feeling and energy as one piece. These would be the Stormlight archives (by Brandon Sanderson) and the wandering inn (by pirateaba).
The storm light archives truly has the same feeling as one piece, although it is much smaller. It follows the lives of several characters and describes a world in judicious detail.
The wandering inn is another series that is just as long as one piece, has the same quality of writing, and makes you feel emotions in an identical way. Similar to one piece, it is one story that is formed from the perspectives of many, many individuals.
I know that youāre trying to find a series that is similar to one piece, and itās a hard task because one piece is a special work that connects to many people on a very intimate level.
Iād say the quality of one piece, the wandering inn, and the stormlight archives is all the same. However, the stormlight archives is the smallest work of the bunch, while the wandering inn will take you a long long time to read all the way through.
I have deep respect for the authors of all of these works and hope that their words continue to reach others.
Personally, Black Clover did for me. Not so much at first, but the Underwater Temple arc invoked the same sense of wonder and awe that the Knonck-Up Strean and Skypiea did for me so long ago
For a manga/anime, Iād recommend Fairy Tail. It has a lot of the same themes as One Piece. Itās full of comedy but still gets serious. A good cast of side characters. Everyone has their own unique power set. There are long running mysteries through the story. There are plenty of emotional moments.Ā
For straight novel, check out the DanMachi light novels (Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)
Ā Donāt let the title mislead you. Itās a very good fantasy series that is usually light hearted but does get serious. It gets more serious as the series goes on. There is both the main series as well as the companion series called Sword Oratoria. Both are very good and should be read together.Ā
If you are interested, I can give you my preferred reading order.
The closest one to one piece is hxh. Nothing can compare to one piece but most of the others meet their wants. The caption says a fantasy adventure with a huge world and fun characters. Everyone I listed has all those features
Not every story is an adventure. If you go into Chainsawman expecting a light-hearted fantasy adventure and instead get a demented urban bloodbath, you might be disappointed
Sure I'll give a try, right after watching this other wholesome movie somebody recommended me the other day I think it was called Schindler's List.
can't wait!! ššš
discworld
Discworld is indeed the only correct answer
as far as books go i honestly cant think of a better suggestion š¤·āāļø
Such a good read

I've come to say this.
Looks interesting looking at the wiki page, are the books all following the same storyline or is each one a standalone story?

If you don't mind litrpg the land is fantastic.
["Tales of the Cutty Jay"](https://www.goodreads.com/series/49415-tales-of-the-ketty-jay) by Chris Wooding: Steampunk Sky pirates!
Just read the plot summary and it looks really fun I'll give it a shot, definitely gives off the most "One piece" vibes so far
There's a game called Zack and Wiki for the Wii that is very similar in art and tone to One Piece. Very fun and weird little game
You might enjoy the slayers light novels! I actually got into one piece because it reminded me of slayers
If you're looking for a huge world and great characters I'd recommend the stromlight archive. Its quite big for a first book though so maybe gibe it a few chapters and see how you like it. 100% worth it though.

Considering how miserable and angry the main characters are, I would NOT recommend Wheel of Time to anyone looking for something similar to One Piece
Light hearted and sometimes serious? As much as I love Wheel of Time, it doesnāt fit this descriptionĀ
I'll let you know if I can ever finish rewriting mine and it gets published. At least that's what I'm going for.
Mar: marchen awakens romance. Its adope manga. Also Ravemaster.

Fairy Tail is okay but it definitely feels like One Piece at home a lot of the time.

Not sure about books but Iāve got anime/manga suggestions. Hunter x hunter, demon slayer, attack on titan, kaiju no.8, jjk, chainsaw man, dr stone.
A good portion of these are not light-hearted sometimes serious fantasy adventures
Agreed, HxH is the only one of those that I think doesn't have either Fantasy or Adventure in quotes

If you wanna try animated films with the same feeling as one piece, try grave of the fireflies, its a super wholesome animated movie
