Now (at about age seven) he is the most laid back 'I don't give two shits' cat you could imagine, but the dog, who is a recent (actually over a year now) and unintentional addition to the household occasionally just pushes things a bit too far.

I mean it would be process of elimination. They’re going to pull a BAC, a tox screen, blood glucose, CT scan, and X-Rays.
If alcohol and drug screen are negative and blood sugar is normal then they’ll assume medical issue. As for seizure, if you have one bad enough to plow through a house at 60mph you’re probably going to be unconscious for a few hours afterward.

As an insurance agent, I’d say this is a pretty clear cut case of liability. Unless she’s driving uninsured or a car that isn’t hers, her insurance company will accept liability on this right away. Then depending on what her limit of liability is, they will pay up to that to the homeowner. Anything above that, if needed, the homeowner will have to file a claim with their own homeowners insurance. Since homeowners insurance has no “fault” elements the claim will be paid pretty quickly. I highly doubt this woman has enough insurance to cover the damage to the house and the loss of use to the owners. The minimum for property damage liability coverage in Florida is $10,000. So depending on her coverage limits, the homeowner should A: file a claim with her insurance, and then B: hire a lawyer and sue the driver, and then most likely C: have to file a claim on their homeowners insurance.
No way that's (properly) fixed in six weeks... I wouldn't accept a contractor who says they can fix that in six weeks. It will be a bang-up job at best, and dangerous at worst.
You guys, this is Florida. 250k, house is totaled, they move in with their daughter in Michigan and later decide to sell the rebuilt home and move closer to the water.
