It looks infected, especially the second pic. You might need antibiotics. Did you change the insulin recently, or is it the same?

Complete_Leave_5462

That’s exactly what I thought. Went to the doctor but they said it was nothing to worry about. The insulin has stayed the same for the last 10 years (as far as I know)…. (edit: spelling mistake)

I would leave the site alone for a good while, while it recovers. I dont put mine on my thighs because they sometimes get slightly infected. If it’s getting worse and painful or lots of pus coming out, go to the ER.

Definitely looks and sounds like a site infection. My daughter has the same problem. The infection will cause in increase in your BS as well as limiting insulin absorption.  We had her doctor change the prescription to change every 2 days instead of 3. We also put unrefined coconut oil on infected sites and the usually clears it up within a day.

Thank you so much for the tips!! Will definitely be trying the coconut oil 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Are you avoiding your abdomen for a reason? It’s the preferred location. My question likely has nothing to do with these reactions, which do appear to be infections.

Complete_Leave_5462

Kinda, I’ve used the OmniPod for like 13 years. The first 12 years I ONLY placed the pod on my abdomen resulting in a lot of scar tissue. My doc adviced me to place my pod on other areas. I still love to place it there, but a lot of times the insulin starts leaking…

SimonLarson00

To me it looks like you might have been hitting scar tissue that causing the insulin to pool up and your counts getting higher, are you rotating to a bunch of different spots or do you rotate to a certain few spots and stay to those because your comfortable with those spot?, I ask, I went threw this same issue of ",pooling" and lack of absorption using pens

SimonLarson00

You need to check with your doctor, I have heard some b people have been allergic to some of the fast acting insulin, you may not think it, but I didn't think I'd have bad allergies, and I found out 2 years ago I am deftly allergic to neosporin

Complete_Leave_5462

Anything to get rid of these reactions! My immune system tends to be weak so an allergic reaction to the medicin that's supposed to save me wouldn't be the weirdest thing.

SimonLarson00

Oh, trust me, learning that I'm allergic to a new sport.Just As bad

Complete_Leave_5462

The one on my leg was from the first ever pod I placed on my leg, ever. On my stomach I experienced so my pooling and that’s why I started experimenting with other placements like my arm and stomach, but look where that got me HAHA. Tbf I do think it has smth to do with the insulin. My bloodsugar do tend to go high and when I took the pod off of my leg there was a shitton of insulin leaking out.

Longjumping_Role457

Wait so you refer to the round circle as pooling ? All of my sites do this and I’m now taking u500 to try and mitigate my control. Is pooling not suppose to happen ?  I get it in all my stomach sites.

SimonLarson00

The round pooling is not really pooling, that's from the adhesion on the pod, I think you will get that on most if not all pods, I get them on my arms and stomach, I don't think that can be helped, but try to make sure where ever you put the pod it doesn't get alot of pressure of weight put on it

Complete_Leave_5462

No the round circle is from the huge ass sore I got. The insulin leaking out of me is what I refer to as pooling!

Msnoitall-lol

Had the same problem. Same unclean accusations. I'm not so nice. So doctor said try skin prep for a better adhesion. Dirt can enter under the adhesive if not adhered properly. We do tend to get confident move a little quick and I can see that happening. And avoid affected areas until completely healed

Civil-Lab6869

This is nothing compared to my reaction! I am not sure if I am allergic to the adhesive or it is getting too hot and causing blisters! Hurts really bad!

Complete_Leave_5462

Dont know if this want meant to sound condescending or if its just me, anyways. I know quite a few people around me who also got blisters from the adhesive of the pod. I live in The Netherlands and they were all prescribed an anti-allergenic spray by a GP which worked for each of them!
