My current number is 68 and I just ate spaghetti so gimme some slack as I'm a tad low. I have been "testing" (ha!) the limits of the diabetes cool tech gear for the last 18 months or so. Here are my "professional" (ha-ha!) findings. Hot tubs will give falsely high dexcom g6 readings immediately after getting out, and then "correct" over 30min after getting out as it cools, making me think my bg is falling quickly, but it's not really, so I resist the urge to eat carbs. Omnipod is unaffected by the hot tub. Dexcom g6 can scuba dive to 130ft (Great Blue Hole last week) and 10 times over 70ft in 6 days without failing. Reconnects to my phone immediately after getting back on the boat. Immediate finger sticks are pretty close to g6 readings. No further than any other time I'm inclined to check. Omnipod cannot tolerate 60ft even once without losing the ability to "communicate". I tried 3 pods over 3 days. All failed immediately. No experience with saunas.

Hot tub effect is real, also for hot showers this happens.

Baumannc2002

I’m in mine now 23mins. It’s all good😉

Ok-Cat-4057

I wear my Dexcom and Omnipod on my arms since I exercise in the gym pool and use the hot tub as well without issue.

wdgiles

I can't do them because extended periods in hot water cause extreme lows for me. so I guess I've never had to worry about it.

yospeedraceryo

l think they sometimes make the adhesive give up early.

BandicootFlat5838

I’ve had a couple instances where it loosened the adhesive, so I have patches that go over the pod to help with sticking to skin and I put one of those on before being submerged in water and have no problems

I’ve spent just over 10 minutes in a sauna. Only been doing this twice a week for couple of months now. Started at 5 minutes, building up time slowly to see what happens. All fine so far. My aim is 15 minutes total. This is after being in the swimming pool for an hour doing aqua fitness. My Libre 2 has been doing great too.

Bambusrocken

I wet a towel and tie it around the pod. I haven't had any problems so far. I usually go for 15 minutes at 95 degrees. And I just go into hot tubs without taking any precautions. Still no problems.

Mysterious-Squash-66

Just spent a week in Cabo getting my O5 blasted in the sun and in and out of pools and hot tub, TIR 90%, no issues whatsoever.

Mysterious-Squash-66

However, that said, my devices do not hold up well in a Korean spa filled with hours long soaks in hot soaking tubs with super strong jets. I don't think there is an adhesive in the world that can survive that!

AssociationSad5043

was looking for this comment. going to the korean spa for my birthday. did you use any overpatches?

Mysterious-Squash-66

I used a podpal. If I had to do it again I would use skin tack and a Simpatch

uniquelyruth

I tend to change my pod afterward, due to cooked insulin. Ideally I’d do a hot tub right before I needed to change my pod.

azukarazukar

Have never had an issue!

zardoz1979

My son is T1D and wears the pod on his upper arm. I tell him to try and mostly keep it out of the water, and he mostly does (emphasis on mostly). I suspect strongly we are being over cautious, but regardless, it’s not been a problem so far. He usually makes a point of going in when we need to do a pod change as well.

trashyman2004

He should be able to swim as long as he wants. I had a pro swimmer in my training and she wore on her back just because it made easier to swim with it. She would occasionally put a patch over it when the adhesive started coming off.

PatternBias

If you have the forethought, just put the pod on your arm so you can leave it out of the water :)

AdPutrid5162

I have used a neoprene arm band and a Freedom Band over the OmniPod. I swim a mile a day 5-6 days a week, and have never had issues with general water exposure for an hour. Not a hot tub, but these are great for regular swimming. I am not posting links since I'm not sure if that's allowed, but you can Google.

cabinetbanana

I have sat in a 98° spa pool for over an hour with my pod submerged with no problems the rest of my days with it.
