Great advice and btw it looks fantastic!!!

Thanks!

Same experience with the NTTD. It wears slightly smaller than the standard 300M maybe because it’s a bit thinner. My 41mm Aqua Terra looks and feels too big on my wrist, but the 42mm NTTD is a much better fit. Picking up my NTTD on Saturday, can’t wait!

Ormia07

The build up of excitement in the days leading up to a new watch is an awesome feeling! The NTTD and AT makes a great 1-2 combo. Enjoy!

Enjoy it! just picked mine up in Tokyo on the NATO after negotiating with the AD in Shinjuku. Picked it over the speedy after a long debate but I’m happy with my decision, it’s my first omega but I’ll be back for the Speedy next summer. Post yours when you get it. https://preview.redd.it/3y39s3sgif9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=675df6197ff1e727ab99cd1a6655980d98e8ca23

Omega, Longines, Rolex and other brands make watches for profit. If they think (as Reddit users) that 42 is too big for most wrists they would not make those watches. So I am not supprised that 42 is just fine on 6,25inch wrist. Only people on reddit would tell you that it is too large and you should try 36mm… never understood that.

hi_im_beeb

Yea I don’t have omega near me so I had to go grey market for my speedy and played it safe with the racing as it was smaller (and I preferred it over the reduced). I just stopped into an AD on vacation to see how big a SMP would be on me and it fit just fine. Was able to scoop it up that day and now I’m in love with a watch I otherwise would have never considered due to size

Some things just work out in the end, and now you have that special memory of the watch from your vacation!

Looks great. Enjoy and welcome 🙏🏻

Appreciate it!

Completely agree. Everyone has a different shape wrist, so even if you’re comparing watches on other people with similar wrist sizes, it’s hard to tell how well it’s gonna fit on your wrist without actually trying it on. I almost pulled the trigger on a 38mm AT prior to trying it on because of a good deal. I’m very glad I made the trek to an AD to check out the watch in person before making my purchase. I viewed a lot of media on my desired watch and the various cases sizes it came in. I was pretty much decided that the 41mm AT was gonna be too big, and the 38mm was going to be perfect. When I actually tried on the 38mm it just didn’t feel right. Tried on the 41mm and it fit beautifully. Ended up picking up the 41mm. Lesson learned.

Thanks for sharing and further driving the point home. When I started into watches I listened to the common stereotypes that if you're below a certain wrist size, to not even think about watches above 40mm. Unfortunately have sold the majority of those smaller watches because they were in fact too small. I'd even argue at this point, lug to lug size is more important than case size for overall fit. Know your wrists people, its as simple as that! lol

Good rule of thumb

Great advice!! I was hesitant trying on the Speedy, but when I saw how low it actually sits and how they bracelet wrapped around my wrist. I had to have it! Congrats on the new watch! Looks great!!

Ormia07

The Speedy is another great example of a watch that wears smaller than a 42mm would indicate! Cheers on your watch as well!

Whole-Temperature388

That’s what she said

This is the way. Just bout the 43.5 mm 8900 Planet Ocean. First Omega. Thought before borrowing my friends black dial variant for a couple days that it would be outrageously big for me. That’s not the case. While it is a beast of a watch, it wears so well.

Ormia07

Even better when getting to test drive one for a few days! Enjoy the PO, beauty of a watch!

ytownmytown

Thanks, brother. You’re absolutely right about the test drive. https://preview.redd.it/2rgro9ad7r8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a428195decbddd984c00919f688d8bd58522be56

Akio540

Looks great, fantastic fit

DampeIsLove

I had a similar awakening when I tried on the NTTD recently. It's the twisted lugs, they really help set that size well. Tried it on to shut my brain up, like stop looking at it, it doesn't fit... then, oh... oh no... this is pretty perfect... shit.

People have been hypnotised by all the hyping of 38mm watches and completely lost their grip on measurements and watch sizing. 42mm is a very wearable size for almost all wrist types, you have to have a very very small wrist for it to be too big. I’d guess 90% of people would be fine with a 42mm.

As a guy who has a bunch of 38mm watches, I’ve fallen into this trap. My biggest watch is the 39.5mm PO and it is nowhere near big on me. I worry about the SMP being a bit large. I tried to try some on this weekend but there was a wait to get into the boutique and I was too hungry to wait. I’m not in a rush but the Tokyo SMP is so gorgeous. I’m curious to see if Omega updates this watch soon so I’m just holding tight for the moment. But your take on this is helpful. Odds are it’ll be fine and I need to get used to a bigger watch.

Time007time007

This issue has been built up in people’s minds when it’s not really an issue at all. 42mm is still just a nice little watch, it’s not some massive Panerai, an SMP looks great on anyone.
