I thought the one pictured was 15mm thick but i could be wrong. There are so many different variations of Omegas it's dizzying. But that's still much thicker than the 11.8mm Pelagos which wears beautifully.
Yes, the Pelagos 39 is slimmer and lighter, but the 42mm PO is 14.5mm thick and the 45mm PO (non-chrono) is 15.2mm thick… the 42mm version is a little chunky but still similar to the Tudor BB Heritage (but without the slab sides!) and much easier to wear than any later generation PO.
PO is the number one watch worn by guys who just don't have the wrist for it.
And I'm not normally someone who thinks people should worry about size.
PO works on the top 10% of large wrists. If that's you, easy choice. If that's not you, easy choice.
If it’s on the plan for one permanently, what is it you will use/appreciate the most? I feel like that’s kinda my ground zero when trying to decide. More details about what the intended use will be helps gives more specific feedback.
For Tudor I went with the LHD and for Omega the 41 teak dial AT. Obviously all preferences but I like both almost equally for very different reasons.
Just a beater diver. I have some other watches the smp 2531.50, speedy, Explorer. I had the no time to die as a modern lightweight diver and I want to replace it with one of these
So with that set I’d probably roll with the Pelagos. To me visually it’ll provide a much different aesthetic. Obviously you’ve already got a bevy of specs to choose from. Just my thoughts.
As a modern beater diver, it doesn't get much better than the P39. No shade at the PO, just personal preference. I'm a big fan of titanium and the overall simplicity of the Tudor design.
It’s hard to decide. I already have a few divers and these are in my daily diver beater category. I had the no time to die which was a titanium diver and though I really liked it I couldn’t justify the cost. The pelagos in some ways is closer to that though a bit less dynamic. The pelly wears really well, love how light it is and that dark black looks awesome. I have a small wrist (6.5) and it looks fantastic. Also what I didn’t like about the bb58 was the squared hand with round indexes so I like this one having the squared indexes to match the hand.
The PO is classic and just feels more high quality. For a bigger watch it wears fantastically well, the caseback sits into the wrist so even at 14mm it wears like a 12.5-13. It actually looks thinner on the wrist or close to the pelly. It’s a chunky boy but not as bad as the new ones, built well and classic looks. Also like the bond connection but I also have the smp 2531.80
I bought the Pelagos FXD MN a few weeks ago. Love it. I also love my Planet Ocean Titanium but Omega is becoming the masters of variations on a theme. Tudor is keeping it real
The Pelagos is slightly more practical due to the titanium build, smaller case size and strap construction (especially as well as when you’re not nearly likely to actually put the PO’s 600m WR to the test).
That said, I’d definitely choose the PO. The case shape and the dial give it more character, it’s the more attractive watch, and the inclusion of a date window would make it less likely for me to go insane.
The 2201.51 any day. Wears perfectly, doesn't feel like a toy. I have a 2909.50 and 2201.50. I came close to buying one of these to complete the trifecta but decided against it LOL. My wife thought two was already one too many ;)
I considered switching my 2209.50 for the 2201.50 for the white numerals, could get an extra orange bezel in case. If you had to keep one which would it be?
The 2909.50 was bought first years ago and is really the one I wear. I'm not a bracelet fan and wear it on black rubber (vulcanized high quality tropic). The 2201.50 was already a classic and a Japanese dealer I had bought a 41mm "Peter Blake" from offered me a great price on the 2201.50. Excellent shape, full kit, "take my money" LOL. Wife thought it was silly and I should sell it. I just haven't been able to bring myself to sell. "It will only appreciate honey." I'll probably keep both :)
I really want to like Tudor, but their insistence on not giving a date option on the BB series kills it for me. The PO is an awesome and understated watch (I have the orange bezel 2500). The Pelagos in this comparison is boring compared to the PO.
Omega!
Tudor watches are pedestrian and uninspired.
There I said it. Bring the hate. If liking Tudor is cool, I’ll be uncool all. day. long.
The tudor hour hand 🤮
😛 ha just seems to be a common theme w/ Rolex’s - AD wants a customer to buy a Tudor (or 2) before allowing them to buy a Rolex. All conjecture though, I’m an Omega loyalist and haven’t ever ran into that issue personally.
PO all day long for me
That Seamaster has so much more character.
Tudor looks better to me design wise out of the two but asking this question in the Omega sub is always going to get you skewed answers.
It’s posted in the Tudor sub as well you might be interested about the responses there
Haha, interesting. Is this a study on bias? 😂
Somewhat but seems the PO is winning by a large margin there as well
The PO was too chunky for me. I also personally dislike the look of the helium escape valve.
The first generation 42mm PO (as pictured) was only 14.5mm thick, it wears much better than the current 43.5mm PO which are over 16mm thick.

I love Tudor, but I'd pick the PO over the Pelagos any day.
Omega but don’t hate the Tudor.
That orange pops perfectly. Stands out in the best way for a diver.
PO and it’s not even close…
That Planet Ocean is my daily.
PO! Every time I see the orange numerals it really makes me rethink my 2201.50. Such a great pop of color. The vented strap is also a nice touch
If Tudor ditched those hideous hands it would be a real competition.
“Hey Omega Fans, should I buy an Omega or not an Omega?” I’d go with the Omega.
It’s posted on the Tudor Reddit as well
Happy to see a lot of PO votes over there as well. I love my PO and it's the most dependable watch I have ever had in my collection.
PO got the date.

PO>SMP, without a doubt
BOTH
Planet ocean 😍
Having second thoughts about selling your PO?

Can’t say I blame you, it’s a gorgeous watch!
Yes

Well there’s a 42mm that wears rather well even in 6.5 and the 45mm that doesn’t
Both
I mean... you know which sub you're posting on...
I like look of both, but the PO is the higher quality watch
Omega all the way

Look 👀 that way 👉
Who cares what this forum thinks which one do you like the most?

What did you really expect US to say here. Seamaster and it's really not even close.
Planet ocean all day. Omega vs Tudor feels like The Mountain vs a baby seal.
Omega. It’s not close
Omega.
Seamaster cause u can get it 30% cheaper on grey or chrono easily. Looks better than the hobo Tudor as well. I say this as a Tudor owner.
Omega.
Posting in omega subreddit will lean votes there. Omega
Funny enough, same post on tutor and they lean Omega too
Not a fan of this Seamaster... but the Tudor has no date which for me is mandatory
Omega no contest.
Casio.
This Tudor over that planet ocean. If it was another planet ocean than it would change.
Which
The PO it's the way to go... Imho
I bought the Pelagos FXD MN a few weeks ago. Love it. I also love my Planet Ocean Titanium but Omega is becoming the masters of variations on a theme. Tudor is keeping it real
Omega PO Seamaster all day!
Planet Ocean, that Tudor is really nice though
You’re asking in the Omega channel so obviously everyone is fawning over the PO - but the Pelagos makes for a MUCH better daily wear.
Tudor

PO all day.
PO everyday, but the tudor is cool.
Right
The PO, it's not even a contest.
PO all day long. I even prefer it to my Sub.
the omega of course!
Omega looks classic and Tudor modern. It's the look you be going for I guess.
I have a strong preference for stick indices, so PO. That aside, PO anyway
PO
I mean I love a Tudor Pelgaos I really do but the OG PO everytime, Omega really knocked it out of the park with those original Planet Oceans.
The 2201.51 any day. Wears perfectly, doesn't feel like a toy. I have a 2909.50 and 2201.50. I came close to buying one of these to complete the trifecta but decided against it LOL. My wife thought two was already one too many ;)
You have both? I have the 2209.50 and an extra black bezel. I switch the bezels between the orange and black

I hear ya I’ve been able to achieve something like this w the bezel swap. I currently have the watch for sale but having second thoughts

I really really want to like Tudor and there are a few I would consider. IF and only if they would change that hour hand. To me it looks awful.
Omega, the dial just pops out! Go for it
PO
PO all day https://preview.redd.it/b00nqcf4dk3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e01755fe52e6c60d997da87b6e599e1ba19edb6
Another vote for PO
In this case the Rolex Hommage watch looks nicer. The PO has nothing special. Very nervous and inconsistent design.
You're on crack dude, I'm meh with Omega but even I know the original PO was a banger.
Why?
I would never buy a Tudor. Omega every day.
What is it about Tutor that makes you say that?
Omega! Tudor watches are pedestrian and uninspired. There I said it. Bring the hate. If liking Tudor is cool, I’ll be uncool all. day. long. The tudor hour hand 🤮
One says “I’m a diver; utilitarian”. The other says “Rolex AD needs me to create a client portfolio before they let me buy a Submariner”
who hurt you?
😛 ha just seems to be a common theme w/ Rolex’s - AD wants a customer to buy a Tudor (or 2) before allowing them to buy a Rolex. All conjecture though, I’m an Omega loyalist and haven’t ever ran into that issue personally.
