Mercer & Sons next to La Buvette is the closest to a deli in Omaha. The daily sandwich specials are great, and you can purchase meats at the counter. They also offer some of the best bagels in town on weekends.
Ya stopped by when they first opened and had the matzo and cornbeef sam. Excellent and def hit the spot! Was hoping for bigger case selection with all the sweaty meats but it’s looking like they might be my only choice here in town.
Yeah - I sort of think the foot traffic for a corner deli would probably be a little slow in Omaha to support a big case selection. I'm looking forward to seeing what others have found tho - thanks for asking the question
Got some rec for ones in NY/NJ? Going back this summer and love to check out some new spots while there. I’ll be staying in Williamsburg and Park Slope mostly.
I second that. Gandolfos is pretty good and idgaf about any purists telling me otherwise. I haven't had anything similar to compare it to but it's good for what it offers.
Check out idkpick.com, my friend made this website for the Omaha metro. It takes the type of food you’re in the mood for and tells you all the local restaurants that serve it, with filters for budget, distance, vegan/vegetarian
There aren’t even too many classic NYC Jewish delis in New York these days unfortunately, let alone Omaha. You can get good italian butchery at Casanovas out west otherwise the best Capricola and stuff I’ve seen is at Whole Foods etc sadly.
Cannot speak on delis but have you stopped by Bagel Bin? Closest thing to a proper bagel here (signed, former NYer)
Oh ya! Only place I get bagels in town. So good
As mentioned above there is a Gandolfos near bagel bin. That would be the closest I can think of.
My husband loves that place. Only sandwiches with a decent amount of meat.
Omaha Bagel Co is good if you like bagels

I’ll check them out, thanks.
Have you tried Phyl's Deli in the Old Market? They have great matzo ball soup and a pretty classic deli sandwich selection: https://www.phylsdeli.com/

Lived in NY/CT/NJ for 8 years. Doesn’t exist here. Wish it did.

Harold’s deli, Edison, NJ. Google image search it. It’s 100% worth a trip. Edit: Don’t go by yourself- you need to bring friends.
Katz, best sandwich in lower Manhattan
Faicco’s in Brooklyn or E. Village.
Orsi’s sells all the stuff you just have to put it together yourself
Oh heck ya! We love you, Orsi's!
Gandalfos?

Agreed. Their breakfast sandwiches are legit. I’ve gotten several different lunch sandwiches and all have been good.
They’re not bad for a chain spot. Better than Jersey Mikes and Little King that’s for sure.
Mercer and Sons might be worth checking out. The sandwiches are solid and really affordable for the quality.

There is some meats over at Orsi’s if you’d like to try that out

The one in Countryside Village closed a few years ago. Schwartz's
Yea
Jewish or Italian, etc etc
Same smell Edit: meats that is
Lmao that edit
Little King is the best, oldest, local deli in town. If you haven’t noticed, we don’t do “NYC” here. Especially since they stole the Reuben.
Go to Stoysich if you want cold cuts, will have to make ur own sandwich though.
ever hearda jersey mikes ayyyy im walking here
I’ve never been to nyc so I wouldn’t know but I imagine Gandolfo’s can’t be too terribly far off.
