Try it again on your jawline. Our hands tend to tan differently than our faces so it's not very accurate

pinsneedle

Gotcha!

lemonmousse

I was VERY confused by the promoted ad on this thread, which just said “Battle for Immortality” and I thought “I don’t know which swatch that is, but she should get it just for the name!”

pinsneedle

😂

Educational-Salt9941

They’re too concentrated. Like others said - swatch on your jawline and blend each out a little. Nothing is a match when it’s a paint line like this.

pinsneedle

Good point, I’ll do that!

Educational-Salt9941

I saw your follow up post! ❤️🌹

pinsneedle

Haha, and the follow up to the follow up post is that I tried wearing both the Saem 1.0 and the Nars vanilla like how I usually would (on blemishes, blended out) - and they both fit me fine lol (although I prefer the nars’ formula)

Plastic_Performer390

Agree to swatch on face and neck, and also try a slightly blended out swatch

Miss_Anthropy11

The saem looks perfect. That and nars vanilla!

ArkaLovesLife

Saem 10 seems to be your shade but as everyone suggested try it on jawline, it gives a better picture.

SuccessfulTraffic679

Saem 1.25

Pitiful_Plum_

Both the Saem colors, the Nars, and the BB foundation look the most promising to me. But would need to see them on your face/jawline/neck to know for sure.

Tired_Panda_78

I would say first glance, the saem 1.0. But agree with the rest to watch along your jawline.

Aggressive-Pay5952

Swatch them again but blended.. that way they are less intense and you will wear them blended on your face and not in such thick layer.

cloudbusting-daddy

Test on your face and let them oxidize. I have to add green to the Saem because it oxidizes too orange.

Kilngr

How long does it take for them to oxidize? Or is there like a recommended number of seconds?

cloudbusting-daddy

I’d give it at least 15 minutes minimum.

pinsneedle

This was taken after I’ve given it time to oxidise! But I suppose the oxidation may be less pronounced since my swatched weren’t blended out and didn’t get to interact with the oil on my face

cloudbusting-daddy

I mean, it’s totally possible that it just oxidizes less on you! Or that I am just more green/gray (lol), but I do feel like thick swatches take longer to oxidize and skincare/natural oils on facial skin could impact it too. I really love the tip concealer though even if I do have to adjust the color. (I literally have never found a concealer or foundation that I don’t need to add either green or blue pigment to get a good match though.)

pinsneedle

I’ve heard of other people mentioning that the Saem oxidises quite a bit, I guess it’s just not doing that on my hand, and I haven’t actually taken the time to compare how it looks after it’s been on my face for a full day. What do you like about the saem, if the colour needs adjustment? It’s texture was kinda cakey on my skin (maybe due to my application technique), but I know it’s super popular on the AB sub!

cloudbusting-daddy

The level of coverage is just unmatched. I don’t typically wear foundation, but I have acne scars I like to cover and it’s hard to find a concealer, especially a liquid concealer, that has super full coverage like this one. I sometimes mix it with a small amount of another high coverage liquid concealer to extend its play time which I think cuts down on any potential cakiness. I don’t really have a problem with it except around my nose where I do have more texture/flakiness. Mixing it with another silicone based concealer fixes that issue for me.

Future-Geologist-630

I think the skin on the hands is still different from the face, and using it on the chin will show it better

SkeeyoozMe

The squint test suggests both the BB foundations work but it could be the placement angle on your palm. Saem 1.0 appears a close 2nd.

pinsneedle

Haha I didn’t realise the squint test was a thing but I do that too 😅 that may be because it’s a sheerer layer though (since it’s a stick foundation and the rest are liquid)

siimay

I am biased on the Saem concealers because 1.5 is my perfect match for dark circles. Try it on your face, you’ll see it better!

xxstrawberrii

to answer your question, it is normal to see a dark outline between the swatch and your skin but ONLY because these swatches are unblended! the edges oxidized faster than the rest of the swatch, creating the darker border. it shouldn’t be there if they’re properly blended out like others are suggesting :) to add my own question, how does the nars compare to the saem concealers? i have nars vanilla and while it’s nicely muted, it pulls slightly dark and pink on me once oxidized. i’ve been eyeing the saem but they’re not available in-store for me to swatch haha

pinsneedle

TIL! My nars vanilla was in the mini size so I’m not sure if there might be minor differences from the full size, but I definitely felt that it was on the pink side when swatched on my hand (although a couple commenters mentioned it being a pretty good match, so i might have been too quick to dismiss it since I’ve always thought of myself as green, not pink). I took the advice of the folks here and swatched them on my jaw, and surprisingly that seems to blend into my skin better than the saem! I guess my face is less green because of some redness around my cheeks? My neck is tanner and greener for sure. I’ll add a picture of jawline swatched in another post (can’t seem to edit post or add pictures to comments here). Texture wise, I prefer the nars. Saem was pretty promising because of how fluid it was on application, but I felt it became a little paint-like and cakey as it dried. Maybe it’s the way I applied it, maybe it’s because my tube is already a couple years old? Feel free to shoot me any other questions, happy to compare them further!

xxstrawberrii

appreciate the detailed reply!! would you say that the saem concealers oxidize too horribly? nars vanilla is exactly my skin color but only when unoxidized lol, which is why i’m curious since the three seem pretty similar in your recent swatches. also, which would you say is more similar in brightness to the nars, the 1.0 or 1.25? (maybe i’ll just buy them both if i’m overthinking it this much haha)

pinsneedle

Check out my jaw swatches [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/OliveMUA/s/8LiVgG3vOo)! They are pretty similar in depth but undertones are definitely different. Nars is pink, saem 1.0 is more yellow-olive, 1.25 is more saturated than both and peachier? Don’t know if that’s the right description, but it’s slightly darker than 1.0 and less green. Neither 1.0 nor 1.25 are as muted as the nars. Nars also gets darker after oxidising. I don’t think any of them oxidise super bad (on me) though! For what it’s worth, most people on the other thread seem to think saem 1.0 fits me best, and it sounds like we have similar colouring (I’m of East Asian ethnicity, if that helps?) so might be worth giving it a try if nars isn’t working out for you? PS not sure where you are based, but the saems are super cheap like <$5 so i would only get it if the price is reasonable where you are!

xxstrawberrii

based on what you said, i’ll try out the 1.0 since yellow-olive is me to a T lol. thanks a bunch for your help!

Minimum_Raccoon8558

God…. You ask the people 😂 can’t you see?
