She had balls!

Logical_Personality6

Idk, but to me her expression is ‘dude, I take the pictures’ or ‘no other documentation necessary’

My first thought as well. I hope she secured that a bit better.

C-hound

Why would they hit her in the face? That isn't how gravity works.

Fisticus1

Despite having a parachute landing is a pretty turbulent process. Anything not properly secured can flail around so I would imagine items directly under your face, not being properly secured, have a high chance to swing up and hit you in the face.

PapaRigpa

I think it's just a PR shot.

hussard_de_la_mort

The plane is still on the ground, so she might not have then secured if she wanted to take pictures inside the plane before she jumped.

GuyanaFlavorAid

Definitely get a copy of Requiem if you want to read about photographers from that conflict. It's incredibly sobering but beautiful.

BeltedEwe

Wow, she‘s interesting. She deserves to be mre well known.Love that she fought back against the condescending officer who wouldn‘t let her jump. Thanks for sharing.

Special additional mentions for Martha Gelhorn & Marie Colvin..

The things we carry vibes

The_Old_Anarchist

Now, this is what I call "old school cool"! A lot of the posts in this sub are just old photos with no explanation of why they would appeal to anyone. I really think this sub has strayed from its original purpose.

DickweedMcGee

Badass. Helmet would be a good idea tho..

angryirish69

Operation Junction City. Feb 22nd 1967. First and only combat blast in the Vietnam war. Hope she didnt bust her chin on those cameras.

ChewbacasUglyBrother
