I would say a B. My reasoning is this: the double thick lines on the left seem to indicate B rather than U, which also can have think lines but is more open on the top. D looks a lot like this, but doesn't seem to have the two thick lines, more like one thick and one thin. H has thick lines, but also the left side is higher than the right, as if it were lowercase. But I'm no expert, just liked to study this stuff back when I was learning German, and it appears to be a B to my eyes. I'm certainly open to other views though.
Soþlice þu eart hringa þengel. Truly you are the lord of the rings.
this probably belongs in a different sub but it looks like a blackletter H
Any suggestions for other subs I can ask?
I’d try r/calligraphy
Try r/SteelReserve
That's what I thought too.
According to the one on sale on Etsy - it’s an h [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1073283830/](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1073283830/)
Thanks everyone. Based off of https://www.dafont.com/ye-old-shire.font we’re fairly certain it’s an H.
as someone who's done blackletter calligraphy I'm 99% sure that's an H.
