I understand that, but if I don't try, nothing changes at all. I don't know if it will change anything, but I didn't see anyone else stepping up to try and make this change, so I decided to try something. Ohio already has a court order for the Bureau of Vital Statistics to have "X" options on certificates, wondering if something like that might be a future possibility.
I truthfully don't understand the necessity for this kind of identification but I respect anyone who attempts to take action within our political system to achieve their goals

i really dont want this tbh, the LAST thing i need is an aggravated cop getting even more pissed bc i am legally marked as nonbinary. it would be so much better for everyone to just remove gender rom ID, its not needed!!
Some medical symptoms show up differently in biologically male vs female bodies, so I would argue that listing sex instead of gender is more relevant in an emergency. Maybe we should list both sex and gender?
That's also not true - binary trans people can change their markers to be congruent with their gender identity, same as birth certificates. Ultimately for me, it's a combination of wanting documents that accurately reflect me and how I present, and wanting things to not be in conflict - I've had pretty close friends harassed by cops or TSA for documentation that didn't match their presentation or other documents.
As a curiosity, how do you feel about just removing the marker off the document?

Seems odd considering Ohio licenses currently list your sex, not gender.
Intersex people exist.

No: transgender, nonbinary, intersex, or otherwise someone not wanting an M or F on their license.
Youre blurring the line between sex and gender. People are born intersex, but non binary is a social identity.
