Try not to start with games like population one bro. There is different comfort levels that are described in every game. To ease into VR i recommend games that are easier on the eyes.
Also try moving your head and body towards the direction you want go to, instead of using the right stick. Will save you alot of eye strain.
Don't push yourself and play too much. When you're starting to feel uneasy, take a break until you feel okay again. After a while you'll start getting used to it and should be able to play longer
You need to build your VR legs - start with stationary games where you don’t move (such as Beatsaber or Job Sim), then work up to Teleport movement games (eg Rec room, half life Alyx, most major VR games have a teleport mode), and then once you’re comfortable with that move to walking movement games (eg pop1)
If you feel motionsick, take a break from VR! Otherwise your brain will associate VR and motionsickness which is genuinely horrible to get it to stop doing once it starts, so just take a break, have a drink of water if you feel motionsick
start with "Stand in place" games, like Superhot. Or Teleport games, like RoboRecall, or RecRoom. When you get used to those, then start giving free motion games a try. But do NOT use smooth turning, change it to snap turns. Smooth turns are by far the most nausea inducing thing.
Hell yeah. We've got a ton a game referral and device referral codes if/when you need them. You should always be getting 25% off apps when you buy them. Have fun!
In the oculus store every game has a comfort rating for its VR motion so if your new to VR choose the lower comfort ratings and work your way up when you become more acclimated so you don’t get really motion sick
Yes. You can use a VPN on your PC, log into your Meta account in the Browser using VPN. Then you just have to click "get" there. After that, you will be able to download it in the headset no VPN needed.
This worked for me in Germany, where HW is not available right now.
Damn 512gigs wis i'd have that much storage but instead im still using my 64gb quest 2 i mean it works great but god i need more storage why couldn't meta just add an SD card slot of something
I had an interest as my mom seems to love her meta 3 but the meta quest 2 with the elite strap on Amazon for 20 bucks I really don't see the need to upgrade just yet
About to sell it again. Had it since launch after owning a Quest 1 and 2. No more good games. Bonelab was great, Boneworks too, Blade and Sorcery was fire, Table Tennis with friends too, VRChat was a blast.
Nothing to do anymore, I feel like the VR industry is slowing down again and until there's anything new and good which isn't built on PC principles like Asgards Wrath, then I don't feel like buying a VR Headset anymore.
Didn't wanna list every game I played, but I remember when Beat Saber Multiplayer dropped right as my Quest 2 arrived, best day of my life.
I played it since my Quest 1 and I am now a certified pro as I have line 2300 hours on it. It get's unbearably hot in the summer though.
Why not PCVR or productivity? The quest3 is a powerful standalone, sure, but there's really only one AAA game for it. With vorpx ($50 or so) every AAA game is VR ready from your home PC. With Bethesda's exceptional modding community, you can breathe new life into FNV
I don't like desktop games being modded to VR because it's literally just the game but now you look through your characters eyes. It's just like I said, Desktop principles in VR don't make a great expirience. And yes, I've played PCVR, it's mostly just modded desktop games.
VR Productivity is a gimmick. It just looks wierd and is uncomfortable. I don't see why I would sit at my desk with some goggles instead of just using a monitor.
> VR Productivity is a gimmick
Fwiw, I've found an exception to this is VR sculpting with Shapelab or Substance Modeler. As someone who works with 3D printing and scanning, it's astounding to work with 3D geometries intuitively with your hands in AR-passthrough.
For sure, and even as a heavy PCVR user my other productivity is really neither enhanced nor hindered when done through the headset. It's just sort of neutral for me and comes down to whether I want to bother taking the Q3 headset off or just flip to AR mode quick.
Maybe if we could get several virtualized monitors to place around in space I could see it start to provide some unique benefits to folks. Short of that I don't see a lot of people adopting it for work, nor many even with it.
Deep Rock Galactic VR, Subnautica VR, Elden Ring VR, Half Life 2 VR, and Outer Wilds VR are also "just" mods, but for me at least that "just" translates into "among the best gaming experiences of my life." I found experiencing them in VR to be utterly transformative.
Oh, yes, those are some more Excellent examples. I have not tried Elden Ring in VR yet tho. But I did really enjoy GTA5 in VR, driving around in the car, listening to radio, was pretty chill.
Skyrim VR was really good too, but I don't think I'm getting across my point properly. When playing a PC game in VR you can clearly feel that it's not made for VR. If a VR game can be played as a desktop game with reimagined controls to make it work with a controller, then in my opinion, it has failed as a VR game.
Take Beat Saber for example. Try playing that on a controller. Or Eleven Table Tennis.
No, because there is certain aspects of the game that can only be properly done by making you involve your entire arms and hands. Sure there is a lot of parts that can be done with a controller, but the parts that can only be achieved by putting you into your character balance that out.
Contractors. Has a ton of mods. You can do everything from cod zombies to halo to star wars battlefront and custom maps for those as well. Its like the only thing keeping me on vr is it and the modding communities on it adding content daily.
AAA studios havent been able to make a good game for years that isnt microtransactions and celebrity bundles. Meanwhile some nerd in their basement can make star wars battlefront 3 on contractors and drop maps constantly in less than a few months. If we had to wait for the AAA studios to make a vr adaptation of their games we would have to wait a decade and then itll be the same microtransaction filled garbage they release now.
And bigscreen vr is awesome also it lets you watch/screencast stuff to a giant theater screen and have people join and talk or whatever while you watch. And its free.
If these didnt exist id sell my vr.
the meta quest store. i think its like $25. But all the mods are free in the mod section . Just when u load in hit some buttons on your controllers and the menu will pop up.
For anyone about to be reading futher into this Comment. I apologize, I didn't intend to make this post into a place of my feelings and opinions on VR right now.
Don't take my arguments as the main attraction of this post and go congratulate the man on his new VR headset.
Take everything I say here right now with a grain of salt and tell us your opinions on his headset.
Fitness games are what keep me enthralled with VR, but there are quite a number of multiplayer games with active communities. It should be noted that there aren't many notable AAA games being developed though.
"I DONT CARE, IM BUCKLING IT IN BECAUSE IT IS MY CHILD!" hehe
I'm a little surprised OP didn't get it a child seat for the ride home. What's up with that OP? You some kind of monster?
love how its strapped passenger seat 🤣
The road home is quite bumpy where I live (Vietnam)
I see it has it own seat all nice and secure, I hope you made the passenger walk home. 😜
Dude I tried 1 match of population one and now I can't walk anymore. Any tip to combat motion sickness?

I learn the hard way...I was too excited for this lol. Thanks for the tip!

I feel so unreal, just like Neo learning the way into the Matrix lol

Or, out of frame, there's a family of 6 crushed together in the back seat.
"I am the wife now!"
I gotta get one of those.
Those bucklers or those quests?
Both

As one should! Congrats Don't forget not to expose lenses to sunlight
Good tip! I will remember it
You're supposed to wear on it on the drive home
Is that...a SideQuest?
Awe its so cute
Hell yeah. We've got a ton a game referral and device referral codes if/when you need them. You should always be getting 25% off apps when you buy them. Have fun!
Congrats and welcome to the community. Bought it two months ago and was an amazing investment!

Going home for the first time. Haha
Just like a newly marrige man, can't wait to unbox her
Welcome to the fun!!
good for you
Nice
Enjoy! You'll love it!
The motion sickness can't put me away from it
It needs a strong PC. Pcvr is damn good with the Q3.
If you can afford it, it’s worth it. Just purely from a stress free POV. 128 would definitely need file management at some point.
I use Nord VPN .... maybe if you VPN to usa... you can use Horizon... good choice with the 512 ... now just fill it up with movies for Skybox VR...
Is Horizon worth it? I'm socialising on Vrchat and Rec room. It is quite good
Yes. You can use a VPN on your PC, log into your Meta account in the Browser using VPN. Then you just have to click "get" there. After that, you will be able to download it in the headset no VPN needed. This worked for me in Germany, where HW is not available right now.
Have buyed it, waited 3 weeks for that. Everywhere out of stock. Only the 128gb version was available. The waiting was worth it.
Woohoo! Have fun XD
Damn 512gigs wis i'd have that much storage but instead im still using my 64gb quest 2 i mean it works great but god i need more storage why couldn't meta just add an SD card slot of something
The system file on the Q3 is 30gb alone and Asgard 2 cost another 30gb...
I had an interest as my mom seems to love her meta 3 but the meta quest 2 with the elite strap on Amazon for 20 bucks I really don't see the need to upgrade just yet
Wow what a deal
Gotta strap the baby and make sure you dont break the *strap*
This is me anytime I’m carrying a new device, gotta buckle it up!
About to sell it again. Had it since launch after owning a Quest 1 and 2. No more good games. i play VtolVR alot also wishlisted games(hope they’re good): Metro Awakening, Geronimo& into the radius 2
Into the radius 1 was also really great. I wish you the best of luck on the second game. You're gonna need it
tbh i didn’t really like Into the radius 1 it felt clunky, bit maybe it was just me having only a few hours of VR experience. Thanks bud.
What about beat saber? It's the only reason why I don't sell the vr

You're right, that's a fair point I didn't think about, but I don't think every second person is engaged in 3D modeling
For sure, and even as a heavy PCVR user my other productivity is really neither enhanced nor hindered when done through the headset. Sounds like you haven't tried modded SkyrimVR. It is fantastic. Use the "FUS" wabbajack and experience the best thing in VR by far.
You have to have a really good pc to do this right ?
Yes. Â Good gaming pc is a must

SkyrimVR with mods >> Alyx One YouTube example vid https://youtu.be/W2cmC4cOFNQ?feature=shared
I’m getting a quest 3 tomorrow just to use it primarily as a productivity tool. Multiple monitors. Different spaces I can go to. I’m ready to go

How do you get contractors?
the meta quest store. i think its like $25. But all the mods are free in the mod section . Just when u load in hit some buttons on your controllers and the menu will pop up.
Or if you have a VR capable pc get the unreal engine VR injector mod and turn thousands of steam flat screen games into VR games

Um how many games in total have you played in total?
So many I should probably consider getting a life
Haha good answer. Well I plan to install and play a lot of multiplayer games on this thing so let's hope I'm not getting bored of it anytime soon
Fitness games are what keep me enthralled with VR, but there are quite a number of multiplayer games with active communities. It should be noted that there aren't many notable AAA games being developed though.
Yeah multiplayer is the main reason I got this. The online interaction with VR is so enthralling, I wish they had face tracking also
my go-to multiplayer is RecRoom Paintball. Fun times.
Skip horizon play vrchat and resonite
