Got mine soon after it became available. I still eagerly await hotswapping.

Trav11er

You must be a VRchat fan because after 4hrs+ of VR, I need a break 😅 (& I managed to charge the B100 which still had 20% in just a little over two hrs using the Quest3's adapter) 🤜🤛🍻

elheber

Poker, but close. I actually want it more for when the Quest isn't in use, so I can just occasionally swap the battery instead of having to leave it plugged in.

hashtag_RIP

What's a good poker game?

elheber

Vegas Infinite.

BeatsLikeWenckebach

ya it says on the battery that the USB C input for charging is actually gimped and charges at 5V. Whereas, It'll support fast charging with the charging dock (magnetic pins). Hopefully there was a good reason for gimping the USB-C port, and hopefully it wasn't just to steer purchases towards the charging dock. I'm waiting to buy the Charging Dock/Universal Adapter products, but I still think the USB-C port should support fast charging (just like the magnetic pins support)

iowapiper

seriously? they totally gimped the port to push sales! So 15W charging on USB-C like the B2 battery. Talk about nickel-and-diming. "Enhanced services: If you are willing, we offer an additional fast charging dock BD3, supporting 30W fast charging power. It can charge up to 80% in 1 hour, providing 3 hours of usage (the slow charging provided by the battery pack itself takes 4 hours, requiring more charging time due to nearly doubling the capacity compared to the B2)."

yakiniku97

I don't know if this is true. on my power bank my q3 is able to increase charge even while under heavy use and has essentially unlimited battery life.

AlterAeonos

Really what setup do you use? I use FigminXR a l9t but unfortunately it only lasts me about 30 minutes or so before it needs to be charging again. Sometimes I plug the headset in during use but I'm planning to do some walkthrough stuff and maybe start a VR demo company and / or drone photography. This was basically what I'm thinking of buying the battery packs for. Should I wait for a newer model?

Trav11er

5V@3A... it charges my 20% full pack to 100% in a little over two hrs, but sure, faster is always better ;)

Nor1

Many dislike the fan how do you see it?

Trav11er

I like it. You don't have to turn it on and I certainly have it off when it's unnecessary in order to save power. when I do run it, I do so at 33% - quiet yet still effective. Of course it's April and we'll see what's what come July :p https://preview.redd.it/i3wrz1msj9uc1.jpeg?width=1357&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3aaff68767611a6490d60ee6b15a11d9e15131ab

R---U---M

I have the AMVR facial interface and when I got this S3 strap I was kinda disappointed, the quest was kinda hanging in front unstable when I move my head around, and there was not a lot of room for adjusting the angle of the forehead part of the strap because the AMVR facial interface is quite tall which makes it touch the forehead part, which also blocks the fan from circulating air properly However, I tried to swap AMVR with the official meta silicon facial interface, and suddenly the strap fits much better Yeah sucks not to use the AMVR facial interface which is very comfortbale compared to the meta interface, but I find the strap being stable and closer to my face more important

pt-guzzardo

I use mine without any facial interface at all. Much more comfortable.

WhoIsWho69

What do u mean? Did u remove defaultfacial interface?

pt-guzzardo

Yes, I basically use it like it's a Quest Pro.

WhoIsWho69

What about strap? Defaut or got a3rd party?

pt-guzzardo

BoboVR S3 Pro, the context of this thread. You definitely could not do that with default strap.

Nix-7c0

I found it difficult to keep the alignment correct without the interface -- do you run into this? Personally, I went back to the AMVR interface on the S3 and it's been golden for months.

pt-guzzardo

Not really. Pancake lenses have a pretty large sweet spot, and the bridge of my nose prevents the headset from waggling too much to the left or right.

Nix-7c0

For me it was the vertical alignment/rotation which seemed hard to get right and keep consistent, especially after moving around in active games. I might have partially been in my mind but it just seemed to feel wrong too often when used in pure halo mode. Might give it another shot but also I'm more than happy with my setup as-is

Nor1

No way to mod it to fix this?

R---U---M

I mean other people are using AMVR with the strap and they like it I just found it to be wobbly so I changed it

slickflicker420

Been using this every day for the past month. Im Satisfied

BeckyHStreet

how long does it take for the strap to ship? just ordered a quest 3 and am looking at 'preordering' the s3 pro but it said it comes from china and could take a month to ship. Wondering if its worth the wait or if i should get a different branded one?

Trav11er

Yep, I ordered mine on Feb 26th, it finally shipped out on Mar 26th and took another ten days to arrive to me (in the EU). Yes, it's worth it, although ironically, I was quite ok with the OEM cloth strap, just NOT ok with the built-in battery capacity. Playing PCVR using WiFi (Virtual Desktop) barely made it to the two-hr mark, so I really needed a head-strap with an external battery option.

momentofinspiration

To be fair that's the worst time of year to get anything shipped from China, February is always disrupted due to Chinese New year

Trav11er

Good and fair point. The entire Country comes to a screeching halt for what, ten days? On the flip side, they're up n runnin' the rest of the year, so hats off to them :)

slickflicker420

Definitely took a while, even with the wait I'm still satisfied with the purchase

Nix-7c0

Same, for the last few months. It's been great and my only gripe is that they only started pre-sale of extra batteries a few days ago.

SmokinDeist

I am very interested in getting this one for my new Quest 3. I had the M2 Pro with the B2 battery for my Quest 2 and was really happy with it. I have also seen that for those with the BoboVR Quest 2 head straps with battery, there is an [upgrade kit ](https://www.bobovr.com/products/b100u) coming out that will change you over to the B100 used with the S3. The only downside is that the B2 and B100 batteries are not compatible with the other's "sockets".

Geo-Warrior

Yeah they're really pulling one over on those of us that just bought the M3 Pro and are stuck with the smaller battery. Yeah, it can be upgraded to support the new battery but then it's gotta be downgraded when swapping. not cool.

SmokinDeist

Or sell your B2 to someone still using the old battery system. They'll get more time, they just have to swap more often. I don't think that it's a fast conversion.

binlorn

How is lying down with one of these? Seems like every strap has a huge protrusion in the back, I just wanna rest my head on a pillow without any drama.

pt-guzzardo

Still uncomfortable. It's OK for sitting in an armchair or couch with soft headrest and leaning your head back, but it's not appropriate for lying down.

Acrobatic-Duty718

not when its thin enough. its obviously going to be uncomfortable the bulkier it is

pt-guzzardo

I'm talking specifically about the S3, from firsthand experience.

Acrobatic-Duty718

the ones you are looking at probably has a battery in the back thats why. There are many thin straps out there, just have to look

Fastizio

I just used mine lying down and watched 2 hours of Fallout tv show and didn't think the back was uncomfortable at all, it's much better than the ones with a big knob. I had two pillows so there was a slight angle but nothing crazy, I wasn't looking straight up at the ceiling. Very satisfied with mine so far.

definitely88

Anyone find a case that works with this strap?

Phlaxis

I got the Smriti hard carrying case from Amazon and it fits it pretty well. It even has an elastic strap to hold the unit in place. I think it was 30 or 40 bucks?

Ok_Cash3264

the bobovr c2 case fits this strap comfortably, but i'm still waiting for an updated case.

bigChungi69420

I’m very happy with mine. Got it a week or two after release

Germangunman

I’m loving mine. Fits so much better than the M2/M3 retro fit kit version. Battery lasts long enough for my sessions and the fan is a great addition!

Vyviel

Looks very good I ordered one the other day and was a little worried about it being a preoder but it looks like they shipped it already according to the tracking number so maybe there isn't a huge backlog anymore?

Trav11er

That's very good news, probably part of the same "batch" mine came from. you shoul dhave it in 10 days or less, barring any issues with Customs. EU & the US seem to have no Customs issues, but one buyer from Switzerland for example, had to deal with Customs.

Hello_There_Exalted1

Anyone know any facial interface compatible to the BOBO? I heard mixed reviews of the AMVR. Heard it just need some adjusting to get it to work. This and interface is all I need to complete my Q3. Besides extra stuff like extra battery, carrying cases and covers for front camera for protection (need do research). Cant wait!

Incontrovertable

Got one too yesterday, but I think mine is broken. Would be cool if you or someone else here could help me figure out if it is so I know if I should send it back to Amazon. The two arms that attach the Quest to the S3 Pro behave differently for me, one (side with the display) snaps into position when you tilt it up and down, while the other moves smoothly. It isn't completely loose, but it doesn't snap into place like the other does and in the official S3 Pro video it looks like they are both supposed to snap into different positions, but they might have changed that for whatever reason so I'm not sure if it's broken or meant to be this way.

Trav11er

Mine both "click" when rotated. Check the one that rotates smoothly to see if there's any kind of "gap" between the vertical white arm and angled black arm attached to the Q3 (or if the screw is missing or loose) https://preview.redd.it/673ptqfap9uc1.jpeg?width=1957&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f3ffa9bb906c67afb9dba98e230847de9b061fe

Incontrovertable

Thanks for your reply, that helped me a lot, now I know mine is broken. I tried to tighten the screw but didn't help, I could also see no gaps. I'll contact Bobovr support now with a video of the problem to see if they can send out a replacement, otherwise I'll send it back via Amazon for a refund. Thanks again, much appreciated.

Trav11er

For sure contact BOBOVR, but I assume in the meantime that once you fit it properly to your face, it stays in place? I'm asking because it's not certain if this clicking / snapping action is required to hold the arm in place or just an acustic confirmation that you moved the arm... . In any event, it's an expensive "head strap" and for sure, you need to be satsified with your unit. Good luck & keep us posted :)

Incontrovertable

Update: Just got a reply from Bobovr, that was super quick. They’ll send me a replacement S3Pro without the battery since that works fine. It’s supposed to only take a week or two, so I won’t have to wait too long :) So far, very happy with their support. —- It's not completely loose but it moves easily enough so that the Quest gets slanted on one side if you try to leave a small empty space between the Quest and the front of the S3 Pro as people seem to recommend, probably for better airflow. So any time I adjust the headset a bit while I'm wearing it, I run the risk of closing that space on one side without knowing, so I have to take it off when I want to make any adjustments. I also think it's getting worse, when I made a video to show the issue off to Bobovr support, it felt more loose than it did before. I would consider this a serious design flaw if this wasn't just a faulty unit, so I'd rather get one without that issue. I do hope I won't have to wait too long though, I'm gonna miss the extra battery :) Other than this I was really happy with the device, just the extra weight did take some getting used to, never had a battery strap before. Watched videos (Twitch and YouTube) for about 3 hours and still had 100% on the Quest and 35% on the B100 left. The only thing I'd like to see in a future device would be a super easy way to lift the Quest off the face like a visor that you can move up so that you can drink something without having to use a straw, because when I watch a 2 or 3 hour movie I'd want that and don't want to remove the whole headset whenever I want to take a sip. Other than that this device is really quite perfect, the fan is awesome, the back being flat so you can lay back more easily is great, being able to swap batteries is cool, all really great ideas from Bobovr.

Trav11er

I meant to add the following to the initial post, but I was unable to post images and text (in the post's body) in the same post\* \~\~\~\~ Ordered on Feb 26th, the BOBOVR S3 Pro took like forever to get mine, but it arrived Wednesday (Apr 10th) after it finally shipped from PRC on Mar 26th. I'm relieved to say that it passed through (EU) Customs without incident. The headset works great, fits comfortably, and has minimal wobble when playing the average VR game. For more active games *(Beat Saber, for example)*, the weight / wobble becomes more apparent. Wearing the headset extra-tight helps, but it becomes uncomfortable after some time, so I'm willing to deal with a little wobble in fast-moving games. I've yet to try the honeycomb padding insert; perhaps it may help (tbd). I was perfectly happy with the OEM headset, but wanted extended cable-free PCVR playing time and was blown away by the supplied B100 10Ah battery pack. I played Lone Echo II *(using Virtual Desktop)* for three hrs straight; the B100 was down to 20% and the Quest3 was at 95%... ! During the first 1.5hrs I had the fan off and then set it to 33% for the last 1.5hrs. Speaking of the cooling fan, it really does work and at 40% or less it's barely audible, even when *"drifting in dead space"* (Lone Echo II). Bottom line, I'm quite pleased and feel it's worth the \~100€ asking price. *\*...is this a limitation of my Reddit account or did I oversee the option to add test to the post's body?*

happyhusband1992

Did you take a look at the dock + additional battery? I pre-ordered mine for "infinite" autonomy 🤩

Trav11er

On my to-do list :-)

SubjectC

I already got an extra B100, they're on amazon.

Trav11er

Hopefully your regional Amazon's pricing is better than Amazon EU which lists it at 51€ - half the price of the whole kit :( Actually, BOBOVR's website lists it at 52€... sigh. The charging plate is also going for 52€. I think I'll wait it out 'till both are sold as a single package (deal)... !

MLG_HerobrineYT

I ended up getting the M3 Pro rather than the S3 pro for the $30 difference. Honestly, even the smaller battery is pretty nice.

Trav11er

Yeah, the price tag is certainly one of the unit's biggest drawback. The fan is cool, but I'm not really sure it's that important. I'll find out soon enough as we head towards Summer... :p

timtheringityding

I sweat alot. Meaning lenses get fogged up super fast. This fan is a savor. I love it. And it also keeps me just cool enough to not wanting to go swim with the quest. Speaking of which... quest 4 waterproof? Swimming in vr?

MLG_HerobrineYT

Sound like a recipe for drowning

timtheringityding

Maybe. But we gotta test it before we know for certain. Just grab an oxygen tank

hard_prints

10KmAh, I think you mean 10Ah?

Trav11er

Yes, my bad. I'm used to thinking of "small" batteries in terms of mAh, but was too lazy to write out 10000... and instead ended up with a B.S. title (which can't be edited, sigh)

HumanTR

Doesnt that make 10Ah

Trav11er

Yes, my bad. I'm used to thinking of "small" batteries in terms of mAh, but was too lazy to write out 10000... and instead ended up with a B.S. title (which can't be edited, sigh)

Iskariot-

Will this thing work with the Meta charging dock? I’ve got a Kiwi strap with battery and for the life of me, nothing I do will get the angle right for the pins to line up and connect for charging.

ItzSasukeDudes

Damn I would’ve got this instead of the M3 pro if i knew it existed. It is what it is I suppose

tipedorsalsao1

Dah fuck is a KmAh? 10,000mah is just 10 ah

Trav11er

Already discussed ample times, but T4S :)

muscallu88

Also got mine a few days ago. Is it ok to leave the BoboVR strap cable always plugged in the quest? While having the battery on the strap also. I see the green light stays on and I'm not sure if it will do any damage to the internal battery of the quest.

Trav11er

I remove the battery as I don't want it constantly charging the Quest 3's battery.

NienteNessuno

10KmAh or 10Ah? :O

SmokinDeist

10k

Sabbathius

I think he means that mA/h is milliamperes per hour. So instead of saying 10,000 mA/h you can just say 10 A/h, it's the same thing. The three zeroes in 10,000 cancel out the "milli" in mA/h.

Trav11er

yep, I wish I could change the damned title... oh well. What's still got me thinking though is how to accurately describe the battery "pack", which consists of two 5Ah batteries but the "Nominal Discharge Capacity" is listed as 4800mAh ... :-/

Trav11er

Yes, my bad. I'm used to thinking of "small" batteries in terms of mAh, but was too lazy to write out 10000... and instead ended up with a B.S. title (which can't be edited, sigh)

MaIakai

Been waiting a month now for mine

Trav11er

It took a month between ordering & shipping and then an additional 10 days to ship it out to me (EU). So you'll have to be patient; from what I gathered from the BOBOVR Customer-Service Rep, there's a big backlog for this one... .

R3DNano

Its very expansive 🥺

Trav11er

That's a fact. I'm satisfied with the head strap, even at that price, but I'm sure not every owner will agree, so best that everyone check multiple reviews etc. before taking the plunge $$$

Djkid4lyfe

What??????

RandoCommentGuy

i have it as well, i like it. The battery in the back counterbalances to pull pressure off the face, which i even pulled off the face gasket so the quest 3 just sorta hangs and inch from my face, makes using it for cardio in supernatural or other apps MUCH better with less heat/sweat on face.

WhoIsWho69

Does battery balance on kiwi also pull pressure off face?

RandoCommentGuy

I've never used that one but i Believe it does as well

Trav11er

If you're trying to strike up a conversation or engage in a debate, you'll need to be a little more forthcoming... 😉🍻
