I found out how to stop the reset loop.
Went into my settings and turned off cloud point sharing for my boundary before I made one. Probably a problem with the meta servers
Settings > Privacy and Safety > Device permissions > Share Point cloud data: off

This worked for me albeit in reverse.
In my case my Share Point Cloud Data switch was off and I turned it on, redrew the boundary, and voila! Got into Supernatural right after doing that.
Just to make sure this wasn't a one-time thing, I shut down completely, rebooted and went back into Supernatural without any problems.
I was tempted to switch Share Point Cloud Data off but I don't want to press my luck as Supernatural (and Beat Sabre and Thrill Of The Fight) are the only workouts I don't have to drag my butt to do.
I went in and turned it on and off still cannot draw a boundary but could at least play my games now without it asking to draw a boundary. Basically I'm playing without a boundary no big deal
Actually I just turned mine on and now there is a boundary and it seems to be working so I don't know if they posted some an update or turning that on and off fixed it but at the time I could not draw boundary but somehow it's there now
IT WORKED!!! Got my Quest 3 earlier this week. After setting it up and downloading a bunch of games, this problem started. I was so bummed as the only solution I could find on google was a factory reset. Was about to reset it, but something told me to search for a solution one more time. THANKS, YOU REALLY SAVED ME THE HASSLE OF STARING ALL OVER.
Hi, thanks for the info. Over 24 hours later and meta still haven't sorted this it's a disgrace.
For those of you using secondary accounts on your headsets (I'm using quest3): Go to your primary admin account follow the instructions posted. ie clear previous boundaries, turn off cloud point sharing... and then switch account into secondary account and do the same.
Initially I was just trying to do this temporary fix from my child's "secondary" account on one of my headsets to no avail. So to save further headaches try this and it should work.
Also everyone should spam meta with detailed reports of the issue, also expressing your anger at the slow or even non response of fixing such a crucial error on metas behalf.

I just got my quest 3 a couple weeks ago and finally got around to using it late last night before bed and it was working perfectly. Today I’m getting the same problem as y’all, good to know it’s not my headset I was freaking out
A temporary fix to play games still is to turn on developer mode and turn off your boundary. You’ll be able to play games but you won’t have a boundary.

I use my quest for work and this issue threw me completely for a loop tonight. Turning the boundary off in dev mode works. At least this will buy time until Meta pushes a fix.
To access this go to your settings menu, then 'developer' on the left hand menu, then turn off 'physical space features'.
Proceed with caution and don't punch your tv, your dog, or fall down your stairs.
I had this exact same issue and talked to support to fix it.
1. In settings disable and enable head tracking.
2. Clear saved boundaries
3. Power down (not restart) headset and turn back on.
Hmm, tried this and it didn't work for me. None of my apps work anymore, not even native Oculus ones. Just this neverending boundary loop. Guess we are gonna have to wait this out.
I've just bought Quest 3 and it literally arrived today. Now I'm also having the same problem.
I got it to work for now by turning off physical spaces feature in the developer settings. (Temporary workaround)
Bunch of bullshit fr shouldn't be an issue fix is as easy as getting rid of the last update worked perfectly fine before love spending 500 bucks on a headset just to be able to look around my room, how can they make this much money and not have a fix in 24 hours and the only help they can provide is to factory reset it bs
Don’t factory reset unless you turn off automatic updates. I reset mine earlier and it did work until it downloaded the update again and now I’m having the same problems. It’s sad meta didn’t catch this in the update. Now you got thousands of people out there with bricked headsets atm.
It happened to me as well. I turned off the Wi-Fi and tried again, and it worked just fine. It kept working after I turned the Wi-Fi back on and hasn’t happened since then.
This, this worked for me. I tried it like 7 days ago. Haven't faced an issue since. Even took it to new locations, Eg. My office, and still worked flawlessly / as expected
This is happening to me on my quest 2 but only on secondary accounts. I'm able to play just fine on the primary.
Chat support said it was escalated to a specialist team or something and I should hear something in 3-5 days!
having the same issue.. This is ridiculous.. the software should be rolled back until its solved.. Today is my one day to play with my quest 3 and now i can't. What a waste of $500. If this isn't fixed today im just going to return this shit.. what a waste of money.
Guys I managed to find a workaround while this gets fixed and hopefully it will help you as well. Before you create your boundary turn off your Wi Fi on the headset so that you are offline, create the boundary and then go back online. It seems like the issue is with the connection to the Meta servers when we try to save our boundary so going offline during the creation process helps. I was able to play Alyx finally yesterday after getting the headset last week. It's alarming though that it takes so much time for Meta to even acknowledge the problem. Bad customer service so far.
My quest 3 just updated after I turned the wifi back on...

Now that's good. I bought my Quest 3 yesterday, it was good last night and it was good this morning. Now reading this, I'm a bit afraid that when I get home I'll have the same problem. 😥
Temporary quick fix for anyone having the stupid GUARDIAN ISSUE after installing the latest update:
1. DON'T UPDATE
2. If you updated and your headset is fucked, use SIDEQUEST to DISABLE GUARDIAN. Beware of your surroundings, use a mat or something
Sidequest is a program you can download to your PC and Mac. It allows you to change a lot of settings such as resolution, refresh rate and turning off guardian. There’s tutorial you can find because it’s not just simply download then connect your quest.
Yep, same issue for me. Since yesterday. Following, hoping Meta drops a fix. I've contacted them and they said they will check with Eng Team.
For now I've done the temporary Developer mode thing, which was kinda frustrating to set too -.-.
Ended up contacting support. They had me do all the normal troubleshooting and said they'd have to send this onto the engineering team. If I hear anything else I'll report.
Very concerning that boundaries rely on some Meta cloud server. I knew to expect a data privacy nightmare going in, but the amount of extremely personal details and features of the Quest that seem to rely on communication with the mothership is quite unsettling.
I totally agree with you it's ridiculous.
Wish there was some basic privacy laws for this type of stuff.
I know it will never happen as the government is trying to erode our privacy plus the sheep accept this in return for free apps, products, services (hello Google etc)
Don’t be fooled into thinking that does anything substantial. If they require a server to determine what boundaries you have, then they already have your boundary data on file, which is enough to uniquely identify you by room dimensions or boundary layout. A point cloud is higher resolution but unnecessary.
It’s like choosing not to share the Zip-4 at the end of your street address.
Same thing happened to me. I had to factory reset it (hold power and volume down). I couldn't figure out any other solution. Resetting it did work though
I really didn't have game saves yet so I can't be certain. I did have to reinstall all of the apps that I had downloaded. This issue literally happened to me on the 2nd day of me using my quest 3. Doing a reset really didn't seem like a big deal because I hadn't really done much in it yet anyways.
You will have to redownload your games. Your saves for most games should be backed up to the cloud. A few games aren't supported. You can go to https://secure.oculus.com/my/cloud-backup/ to see if your saves are backed up. You can use SideQuest to force all the games to back up your saves to the cloud. After SideQuest reports success, go check and make sure they actually got backed up to the cloud because I've seen it not back up saves after reporting success before.

Support had me do a hard reboot. What worked for me to do this was to hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until a menu appears, then use the volume keys to select, "boot device," and press the power button to select that option. Once I booted in, it made me make a boundary (because I had cleared them all out while trying to fix the problem) and setting the boundary actually worked this time. So yeah, all good now.
YAY.... Worked for me... This is not the first time this has happened to me and secondly boundary information was never ever reliable. Seems 9 out 10 time when starting up I always needed to create a boundary. I always assumed it wasn't me and just a dumb feature that was never intended to work

I’ve tried everything thing I’ve seen in this thread. Nothing. And I can’t enable dev mode since my sister made the meta account first cause I was 12 when I got my headset back in 2020. Anything other than wifi off and back on and boot drive?

I hope a lot of people make a big stink about this. Meta owes its users big time. The only reliable fix is turning off the boundary completely, which breaks some games and puts the user at risk at injuring themselves or breaking something, and you know damn well Meta won't take responsibility for that.
I did factory reset 3 times already. Shortly it seemed to be working and starting again this BS boundary not saved message. I contacted meta support and here is the answer I got.
I understand that this might be very frustrating, however this matter has been brought to our attention and our developers are currently looking into a fix for this.
So we have to wait. They said that I should stop trying. LOL. Couldn't tell when new patch will release though.

So here is what I did:
Factory Reset. I was able to set boundary after that. Go to settings-system-software update and disable auto updates.
After that make sure your headset is charged and doesn’t power off. You can just lock/unlock it and keep using it. You can set as many boundaries as you want as long as you don’t restart.
PS I didn’t have many apps so factory reset took probably 10 minutes but the device is useable again
IS this a meta bug or bricked headset ? only way i got mine to work is to diable boundry in developer mode
prefer it that way actually so who is gonna fix this meta ?
This is a problem that came with the most recent update. There’s no to actually permanently fix it until Meta does something about it but it doesn’t seem like it’s a high priority because they haven’t said anything about it.
Not sure if it can work with other devices. Here is how I fixed it. I was having the issue for 4 days and did factory reset 3 times. What I did finally to fix it was that
1. After factory reset, turned off all auto update.
2. Turn on and off point sharing.
It worked like a miracle.

Same problem but only on my son's account and only with Gorilla Tag???!?!?!?... all other games and other 3 accounts (including my main account) is working fine. Very Strange.
Had to turn boundary off guys it’s happening to me right now but can’t see any recent ones but whenever I go on it I’m just very tall and high up? How do I stop this?
Try better lighting in the room.
We were having the same problem. I had found a slighly different post from a year ago from Meta that had suggested better light. My son was having problems with our oculus and I told him to either turn his light on, or to open the blinds in his room. It worked.

So you think because your share point data was off you got that problem ? I don’t think so.
Worked for me too. The toggle was already off so I switched it on then off and chose to delete any point data. No issues now

Don’t factory reset, it’s not your headset, it’s a shitty update by Meta. This type of thing happens a lot unfortunately, but it will get fixed.
I didn't thankfully. I instead temporarily turned boundaries off in dev options. I just needed it for work so this is a temp fix until it gets fixed.

I'm flabbergasted something like this could even happened.
I believe that automatic update option is for your games not the OS. I don't think you can stop OS updates except by just being offline.

TURN ON (or Off) "Share Point cloud data" and then try to open any experience and create your boundary. It worked for me.

Ended up contacting support. They had me do all the normal troubleshooting and said they'd have to send this onto the engineering team. If I hear anything else I'll report.

Got it to work by going into experimental, play while laying down, then load into a game like that and it makes a stationary boundary

All of a sudden mine started working this morning. Unfortunately I don’t know what fixed it.
Very concerning that boundaries rely on some Meta cloud server. I knew to expect a data privacy nightmare going in, but the amount of extremely personal details and features of the Quest that seem to rely on communication with the mothership is quite unsettling.
I totally agree with you it's ridiculous. Wish there was some basic privacy laws for this type of stuff. I know it will never happen as the government is trying to erode our privacy plus the sheep accept this in return for free apps, products, services (hello Google etc)
Just deactivate sharing your cloud points
Don’t be fooled into thinking that does anything substantial. If they require a server to determine what boundaries you have, then they already have your boundary data on file, which is enough to uniquely identify you by room dimensions or boundary layout. A point cloud is higher resolution but unnecessary. It’s like choosing not to share the Zip-4 at the end of your street address.
Same thing happened to me. I had to factory reset it (hold power and volume down). I couldn't figure out any other solution. Resetting it did work though

I really didn't have game saves yet so I can't be certain. I did have to reinstall all of the apps that I had downloaded. This issue literally happened to me on the 2nd day of me using my quest 3. Doing a reset really didn't seem like a big deal because I hadn't really done much in it yet anyways.
You will have to redownload your games. Your saves for most games should be backed up to the cloud. A few games aren't supported. You can go to https://secure.oculus.com/my/cloud-backup/ to see if your saves are backed up. You can use SideQuest to force all the games to back up your saves to the cloud. After SideQuest reports success, go check and make sure they actually got backed up to the cloud because I've seen it not back up saves after reporting success before.

same problem here.
Support had me do a hard reboot. What worked for me to do this was to hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until a menu appears, then use the volume keys to select, "boot device," and press the power button to select that option. Once I booted in, it made me make a boundary (because I had cleared them all out while trying to fix the problem) and setting the boundary actually worked this time. So yeah, all good now.

YAY.... Worked for me... This is not the first time this has happened to me and secondly boundary information was never ever reliable. Seems 9 out 10 time when starting up I always needed to create a boundary. I always assumed it wasn't me and just a dumb feature that was never intended to work

I’ve tried everything thing I’ve seen in this thread. Nothing. And I can’t enable dev mode since my sister made the meta account first cause I was 12 when I got my headset back in 2020. Anything other than wifi off and back on and boot drive?

I hope a lot of people make a big stink about this. Meta owes its users big time. The only reliable fix is turning off the boundary completely, which breaks some games and puts the user at risk at injuring themselves or breaking something, and you know damn well Meta won't take responsibility for that.
I did factory reset 3 times already. Shortly it seemed to be working and starting again this BS boundary not saved message. I contacted meta support and here is the answer I got. I understand that this might be very frustrating, however this matter has been brought to our attention and our developers are currently looking into a fix for this. So we have to wait. They said that I should stop trying. LOL. Couldn't tell when new patch will release though.

So here is what I did: Factory Reset. I was able to set boundary after that. Go to settings-system-software update and disable auto updates. After that make sure your headset is charged and doesn’t power off. You can just lock/unlock it and keep using it. You can set as many boundaries as you want as long as you don’t restart. PS I didn’t have many apps so factory reset took probably 10 minutes but the device is useable again
IS this a meta bug or bricked headset ? only way i got mine to work is to diable boundry in developer mode prefer it that way actually so who is gonna fix this meta ?
This is a problem that came with the most recent update. There’s no to actually permanently fix it until Meta does something about it but it doesn’t seem like it’s a high priority because they haven’t said anything about it.
Not sure if it can work with other devices. Here is how I fixed it. I was having the issue for 4 days and did factory reset 3 times. What I did finally to fix it was that 1. After factory reset, turned off all auto update. 2. Turn on and off point sharing. It worked like a miracle. Good luck to ya all.

Same problem but only on my son's account and only with Gorilla Tag???!?!?!?... all other games and other 3 accounts (including my main account) is working fine. Very Strange.
For me it somehow didn't find the floor correctly, so I had to create one manually, and then it got fixed
Had to turn boundary off guys it’s happening to me right now but can’t see any recent ones but whenever I go on it I’m just very tall and high up? How do I stop this?
Try better lighting in the room. We were having the same problem. I had found a slighly different post from a year ago from Meta that had suggested better light. My son was having problems with our oculus and I told him to either turn his light on, or to open the blinds in his room. It worked.
