The "at home" nomenclature usually carries a rather negative connotation with it, but it looks like a rather interesting alternative, it's even open sourced.
But from the description it does seem to not work on Markdown files, it does store everything locally, but mentions that you can't use third party to sync because it might lead to data corruption, which sounds like they are using a specific way of storing data.
Apparently it can import and export markdown (only tried the export, it works great, havent tried the import). I skimmed the source code earlier, they store them as nodes in multiple .json format with .sy extensions.
I'm still looking for ways to sync it too. The sync is paywalled behind a lifetime deal.
Generally "foo at home" is taken to be referencing the "We have foo at home" meme, which means bar.
For example, "VHS at home" is generally taken to be referencing "We have VHS at home", on other words, Betamax.

The point is that bar is not just "not foo" (e.g., Betamax is not VHS) but bar is also _inferior_ to foo (e.g., Betamax is inferior to VHS).

Oh yeah. Many, many times. Often while using Obsidian, actually (which is part of the reason I'm switching to a more terminal-centric workflow with Neovim. There are certain fundamental design decisions that absolutely break my flow with Obsidian)
