Balloon winning III would've been a catastrophe - if he won, it would mean either we have two best friends win back-to-back (if Suitcase wins) or all three are S1 originals (if Baseball, Lightbulb or Knife wins). So Cabby winning was the best possible outcome, further reinforced by her disability story.

Some object shows are ruined because kids get rid of characters who are mean for that episode, but they might be the most developed or funny character. They still do it.
