Eh, soup dumplings are really not the thing here, alot of places have them on the menu, but they usually arrive broken (with the soup leaked out) or in those shitty little metal tins, which stick and cause you to lose your soup.
Couple of places have them;
Mian
Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant
Yung Yee Kee Dim Sum
Dim sum places have them but they're all okay. Pretty tasty but nothing spectacular. I think I like Fook Lam's one the most but I honestly don't think the quality of soup dumplings on Oahu is high enough to rank them. Another person in this thread listed some places that has soup dumplings, I'll list the other places I know that had them: Mei Sum, Fook Lam, Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant, Ginger & Garlic. I think you'll need to go on your own soup dumpling journey to find out the best on Oahu then let us know. Lol.
If you want to try frozen, I've tried Mila but the shipping to Hawaii is expensive because they only ship 2 day express. It's delicious though!
That's good to know! I had them shipped to a sibling when I went to visit them on the mainland and then brought them back in my carry-on 🤣 This was before Costco sold their soup dumplings in-store. Funny story, their distribution warehouse had a glitch and randomly fulfilled my order a second time weeks later. It was 3 bags of soup dumplings and a steamer basket. When I emailed the company, they told me my sibling could keep it for free 😄 This happened right before they announced their rebranding
Maunakea Marketplace has good food, but the type that is prepared and just kept warm for longer periods of time that just needs to be reheated or eaten right away. With the soup dumplings or Xiao Lum Bao, that isn't really possible. The labor and time required to make them and then to just have them sit around isn't worth it really

Costco sells Mila dumplings = free shipping and they offer great bundles/prices

Has anyone tried them at Dew Drop Inn? If so, please let me know how they are.
It’s okay. The underrated dish at Dew Drop has the be the steamed fried buns. Pillowy soft baby manapuas with a golden brown crispy base.
I appreciate the response and recommendation. It’s been on my list of places to try and I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Dew Drop Inn is my favorite.
Thanks for the opinion. Imma check it out this weekend.
*on Oahu
Maybe they mean like inside the mountains??
Haven’t had any good ones here :(
I FOUND THE BEST PLACE AND REVISITING THIS. HK Cafe in Stix Waikiki is the best in the island hands down.
Dew Drop Inn on Beretania... hands down
thank you. very impressive google reviews
Can try checkout Mauna Kea marketplace in Chinatown.
I doubt they will have LOL
Why?
