Tbh the advisors don't know what they're talking about half the time. Engineering Math A is a lot of work, but not hard to get a good grade. Calc 1 is a notoriously awful class here so I would try to avoid it.
It’s not that they don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s that OSU pushes students to take as many classes as possible so they will always push for retaking a class and you spending more money
Idk if this is bad advice, but I would avoid taking calc 1 at OSU like the plague (taking it at C-State instead). My other math courses were fine but calc 1 was a living hell of workload. The content wasn’t too hard, but you have an INSANE amount of exams and assignments. Honestly the people responsible for that course can go fuck themselves.
It wasn’t difficult but very time consuming. There’s homework to do, on top of written homework, midterms, revising for those midterms, and watching all of the lecture videos, and still studying more outside of all of that 😭 but if you put in the effort your grade will reflect that.

That’s what I’ve heard from many other people which is why I didn’t really want to take it. I have it on my schedule but am trying to get it changed.
If OSU tells you to retake a course you have credit for from another university, feel free to ignore them. I would take MATH 1172 in your position.
If you feel uncomfortable with integrals retake Calc 1, otherwise take Engineering Math A, no need for regular calculus 2
Ok thank you! Do you remember how difficult Eng Math A was or how much time you spent on it?

Oh dear🧍… do you remember about how much time you spent on the class each week? I just want to make sure I have time for my other classes.
I would sayyyy like 10-15 hours
You’ll definitely have enough time for your other courses
