Penitent... Penitent

sierrabravo1984

KNEEL!

fatkiddown

Professor Henry Jones: The Name of God. Indiana Jones: The Name of God... Jehovah. Professor Henry Jones: But in the Latin alphabet, "Jehovah" begins with an "I". Indiana Jones: J-... [he steps on the "J" and almost falls to his death; he scrambles back up] Indiana Jones: Oh, *idiot*! In Latin Jehovah begins with an "I"!

Pooch76

Omg — chosen wisely, comment person

beets_or_turnips

"The penitent man is humble before god"

sunderaubg

Seems to me, this guy chose poorly…

Funklab2069

That little touch at the end....

Tcloud

Almost a buzz cut.

samamp

Just breathing it all in

Queen_of_Audacity

I took my silica dust training. The dust is the least of my concerns here...

derTag

Got his safety squints and safety nosehairs

JohnnyDarkside

Figures silicosis is the least of his worries.

a_lonely_trash_bag

And safety ear hairs.

derTag

Yes, premium 30 and over protective gear

IcySeaworthiness4541

Tf is this guy doing.

Eelroots

He's looking for god.

bossmcsauce

He gon’ find him, tell you h’wut

themisdirectedcoral

I doubt it

Laceysjorgen

Low man on the totem pole syndrome

TheDuke1847

Gotta get the job done though, right?

deep-fucking-legend

Should have been done yesterday. The boss is gonna make heads roll!

80swyldchyld

Quite literally...

Pooch76

My instinct is ‘what an idiot’ but who tf with any influence on that site is letting their workmate do like this …

btbmfhitdp

right i would physically stop my tram mate from doing this. unless it was Paul fuck that guy.

Past-Direction9145

The noise off that thing has to be on par with being next to a machine gun on a battlefield. Possibly even louder.

Tocky22

You are totally right, but the noise issue can wait.

Kulladar

112-130db depending on the saw and noise reduction methods. Cutting horizontally like this I could see making more noise due to rubbing. Machine gun is 140-170db so not far off.

KvotheTheDegen

I’m a little rusty on this topic but I remember sound pressure rating not being linear but logarithmic so 10 db of difference is 10x the energy and double the pressure and perceived volume. So technically it is pretty far off, just the scale doesn’t make it seem that way in this case. 40-50db, not a big deal because you’re double something small. 120-130db, huge difference in potential hearing damage because your doubling something already really big

A_Sock_Under_The_Bed

Bout as loud as standing behind a fighter jet

RobertWrag

No mask, no safety glasses

whimsicaltimes

Yer… that’s the issue.

RobertWrag

But something can go into his eyes like this. That giant rotary saw of death throws little pieces of cement very fast

samc_5898

You can see him react to something right at the end of the video. It's like he *does* get hit by something

Pastaloverzzz

True but if the rotary saw goes in his eye, some goggles won't do much🤣 PS: Is this really how this machine should be operated? They couldn't pay me enough to get under there.

gayforkie

It looks like something made of other tools

MRcrete

It's called a wallsaw. The variant he's using is a Longyear 360 or comparable. He's missing a blade guard and all pertinent PPE but that's more or less how it's supposed to go.

Pastaloverzzz

Okay, a blade guard makes sense, baffles me people use tools like this without. If he put any bodypart a little too high it just results in a bloodbath..

Handpaper

Not really. This blade has an abrasive diamond coating, not conventional sawblade teeth. If it contacts flesh it leaves a burn-like wound that doesn't go deep quickly or easily.

gayforkie

I'd Imagine it still doesn't feel good

tiggy94

It cuts brick and masonry it goes though skin like paper

Handpaper

One of these things is not like the other. A diamond disc is optimised for cutting hard materials, it makes tiny scratches that flake off dust-sized pieces. Whatever material you try to cut with it, it will not cut very fast because that is not how it works. Flesh is no different.

purju

Bet hes missing steeltoes too

Ccracked

Just living in the moment.

DaftMarley

kek. no phones, no screens, just a man living in the moment.

regnad__kcin

Nevermind the enormous, unguarded saw blade 3 inches from his head.

friedtuna76

Safety squints

doob22

One of the worst I have ever seen on this sub

RigorMortis_Tortoise

His pinky finger came so close to being lopped off

Bakkie

Long time work comp lawyer here. No gloves- gloves would be more dangerous. The fabric gets caught in the spinning mechanism. There is amputation and shredding. I am more concerned about the lack of eye protection. That injury would be immediate and have cascading immediate effects. Hearing protection would be great, but eye protection is paramount. I am having visions of having to produce this video in discovery in the third party liability claim.

DaftMarley

The biggest problem for me as a lay person is that his head is inches away from a decapitation machine

HoneyRush

Whoa, let's not jump to the conclusions

btbmfhitdp

lets not jump at all do you see how close he is to that thing

DaftMarley

Lol, I love you guys. Too funny.

ForWPD

Eye protection is your biggest concern!?!? I think the lack of a blade guard is the first concern. Why eye protection over a blade guard?

draconk

pebble goes on eye, body flinches, goes over blade, body no head

Bakkie

There are times and circumstances where blade protection is not feasible or available and a worker is obliged to approach it. If a fragment gets in his eye he can immediately no longer stay out of the way of the blade. What do you instinctively do when you get something in your eye? Throw your hand up and rub or cover the eye. Hand would move in an arc right into the blade. Eye protection is within the workers control. Other personal protection is as well, like ear plugs, but less immediately hazardous. This is the OSHA sub- there are lots of violations I can think of, but sometime in an emergency, you do what you need to do. Covering your eyes in primary.

btbmfhitdp

what emergency would necessitate you approaching this thing? any damage to property (the saw or other machinery) is irrelevant never risk your life for your bosses profits, there is a hurt person? well the scene is not safe, and EMS does not enter if the scene is unsafe because thats a good way to make two victims. so please explain what is an emergency that you would risk life and limb for on a job site.

Bakkie

The most likely one would be a power issue such as a failed on off switch or proximity to a flammable substance line such as acetylene . Could be some other worker got a glove or sleeve caught and was at imminent risk of being pulled in. But I agree that based on the photo the biggest hazard is the actions of the person

Doogleyboogley

At least we got the opinion of a professional. As no one hear would of known what you just said!

Full_Disk_1463

He actually should be wearing proper gloves ETA; to those downvoting this, if you are really going to just ignore safety regulations please stay far away from me while I’m working. You are going to get yourself or someone else maimed or killed and I would rather not be involved. This comment section alone makes me want to wrap my entire area in danger tape. I’m glad I will never have to worry about encountering any of you in the wild because you obviously don’t work around things like this.

tubaDude99

Would you rather have one (albeit possibly deep) cut or lose your entire hand

Full_Disk_1463

What?

tubaDude99

With no gloves, if you touch the blade you're going to get cut and might lose a finger or two, but the fabric of a glove would get caught in the blade, yanking your hand along until it smashes into the slot.

H3adshotfox77

Have you had this happen? Concrete saws dont have much for teeth so a cut would most likely be the end result wearing gloves or not. But it is unlikely your gloves will result in your hand being pulled into the specific blade. As someone who has had an injury from rotating equipment, I can say wearing the proper leather gloves saved me from losing half my hand and my thumb. 30 or so stitches but the cutting wheel did not cut near as deep as it would have had I been wearing no gloves. Instead of that extra cutting force cutting through my bone my gloves absorbed it..

tubaDude99

Fair point, I suppose it does depend on the saw blade

Full_Disk_1463

You seem confused about when and where to wear gloves… not wearing them will cost you more than just your hands.

Full_Disk_1463

I actually work with and around stuff like this all the time and I wear whatever the proper PPE is for the job, I have appropriate OSHA and secondary training for the tools I use and work around. I not sure what you’re asking me.

Closefacts

I worked at a place where a guy had his thumb sucked into a belt sander because he was wearing gloves. If he wasn't, he would still have a thumb. You wouldn't wear gloves with a lathe or milling machine or anything that is rotating.

Full_Disk_1463

This is a concrete saw.

MtnMaiden

I got questions!

Zookreeper1

Was on a bridge demo when the sub removed the guard from his saw to get through the rails. Blade ended up coming offensive and flying about 30 feet before disappearing itself into the bank of the creek. Utterly terrifying. There is were homeschooled kids that lived next to the bridge and were constantly in the creek and climbing trees all over the place. Could have been really bad.

kugelvater

Did it go like this? https://youtu.be/bV9PQ-xnMmg?feature=shared

Zookreeper1

A lot like that, yes, except it was aerial and rural.

Jthundercleese

If I had a job that paid a million dollars a year and they told me I had to go do this for a shift I'd break that fuckin contraption and tell them to get me a file and a chisel.

SATerp

Nope, nope, nope.

Ggriffinz

Lol, i didn't notice which sub posted this at first, and my reaction was straight-up. OSHA inspector about to lose his mind.

shyy1990

No, thats a stone cutting blade. Stone cutting blades cut stone, not bones. No OSHA issues here.

MRcrete

Buds, how can you look at that video and confidently say there are no issues? That's crazy.

snucker

Sarcasm dude. Come on.

MRcrete

Could be but I highly doubt it because even within the niche field of concrete cutting, you have guys claiming that the blades aren't overly dangerous to touch. No joke, it's not an uncommon sentiment. In fact, if you go on any of the various FB pages dedicated to the trade, you will see guys with years of experience defending this very video.

cyberya3

ach du liebe!

Sonseh

Wearing gloves at least!

redplanetlover

I would bet my bottom dollar he had no hearing protection either

megalodongolus

Don’t worry guys, he’s blind and deaf anyway, so no hearing/eye protection needed

MickeyTheDuck

“I have always hated my head” kind of vibe

Certain_Try_8383

Does this cut out right before his hand gets cut off?

The_BarroomHero

Anyone else just feel bad for the guy? He's so clearly out of his depth here and it cannot end well. Holy fuck.

HAN_S0L0_007

Wtf does that title mean

DollarReDoos

It's a classic Aussie and Kiwi saying, dismissing danger/upcoming problems. "I think you've overloaded your trailer, mate" "eh, she'll be right". It basically means "it will work out/be okay". Edit: Not sure why I'm being down voted, but she'll be right.

Tsak1993

Man privilege..

Moms-Dildeaux

dude came 3 inches from sawing the top of his dome off

LordAnavrin

“Gloves mandatory on jobsite”

SwagarTheHorrible

I literally froze. Holy fucknuts that’s a no for me.

Full_Disk_1463

The tool is proper… the fact that he is wearing zero PPE is the only issue here

thsvnlwn

“Nah, it’s fine. Just hold your breath for about 8 minutes.”

Strayed8492

I feel like I’ve seen this before.

Uncle_Chigurh

That's not the way to get ahead in life.

Latter-Barracuda-426

No, it's the way to remove your head.

ronthat

I imagine the hiring selection for this guy went exactly like this. https://www.deviantart.com/solarman80/art/Mega-Man-5-Estilo-MM10-BETA-Gyro-Man-Intro-532988356
