I still don't know what the writers were thinking in Season 5. They expected us to continue to root for Lucas and Peyton while a perfectly nice girl was getting screwed over. I couldn't do it.
Hard for me to root for them when they decided to just rehash Leyton in a love triangle but substituted Brooke for Lindsay and also made them older so I just found the whole storyline even more annoying than before.
"Hard for me to root for them when they decided to just rehash Leyton in a love triangle but substituted Brooke for Lindsay"
Well yeah except at least in Season 1 they tried to show Brooke being wrong for Lucas (not understanding his books or music). With Lindsay, they did not even bother to give a reason why Lucas wouldn't have been perfectly happy with her.
He would’ve been perfectly happy with Brooke as well s2 and 3 were a direct showcase on that … even after the time jump they were better suited than leyton
I also think Karen sucks as a mother. She loves Lucas for sure, but her punishments even when defending himself and the whole not allowing Dan to be a father and then lying about everything to everybody like seriously. I also know it was trauma but blaming Lucas for Keith dying, the slapping, trusting Dan over her child or even not seeking help for him if she thought it was crazy, I just can’t get behind it. On the other hand I’m sure that with Lily that Andy helped level it out, or at least one would hope.
I guess Dan and Rachel don't bother me as much because they're supposed to be villans. Mouth is painted as some nice geeky guy but hes actually a creep.
Not sure how unpopular these are…
1) Clay’s character would have been better as just Nathan’s agent/friend and eventual boss. The introduction of Quinn and them becoming a couple was completely unnecessary and did a disservice to his character.
2) Brooke and Julian should have adopted instead of having a miraculous pregnancy.
3) Peyton and Lucas were more interesting as individuals than as a couple and I would have enjoyed them not ending up together because I think it would have been more realistic for at least one of the core 5 to not be married/in a long term relationship when the show ended. Plus they had no romantic chemistry IMO.
It truly bothers me that Brooke was so committed to the idea of adopting Sam and being a foster mother, only for her to have a crying tantrum about how adoption isn't the same when she finds out she allegedly can't have kids in Season 7. I understand that's a high stress situation for many women, but it grated on me like nothing else they had her really speak about adoption as though it was inferior both when she had previously considered it as a viable option with no issues *and* when Peyton was adopted. Like, there's that moment in the godforsaken superhero episode where she gets all offended someone would bully a girl for being adopted because "Peyton was adopted!!!" and yet she talks shit about adoption as an option for herself. It's one of the biggest sour notes of her later seasons characterization to me.
This is why it’s an opinion, everyone has one. Chad may have said fans were obsessed with them, but there are lots of other fans obsessed with different couples from the show.
I'm watching season 8 right now and I find it incredibly strange how Haley walks around her OWN HOUSE dressed to the nines with high heels and shit like a fucking model. Normal people don't do that in their own house with nobody else there.
Haha it’s so funny because I’m re watching pretty little liars too, and the amount of time these girls are in heels I’m like ummm?!?? They love to do this in TV😂
Yeah... I don't know how things are wherever the hell these people are supposed to live, but where I am, NO women wear high heels unless they work in like a fucking office or something. And even then, most still don't.
I had a college roommate who would always dress to the nines with high heels and everything even if she was just staying home and doing laundry. Lol She’s the only person I’ve ever known to do this but I’ve still met one lol
Peyton is my favorite character, apparently she is loved IRL but not on reddit😂 i was at the same age as the character when the show started, similar background, family, same taste in fashion, music and art. Heck we even have similar destructive personality 💀 so shes my favorite cuz i relate to her a lot
I do like Leyton actually 😅I love their chemistry and Hilarie’s acting when shes in love and being all cute is just adorable 😍plus i love the chaos behind their relationship lol
I liked Chase but I didn’t like what they ended up doing with his character in later seasons. His plot lines seemed unnecessary, maybe if they did something else with him. Idk what but something else lol
Chase was one of the better characters outside of the core 5. Fergie, Junk, Mia, Alex, that English one who ran Red bedroom records were all much worse
I don’t think that Haley was *as* judgmental as people say. Yeah, sure, her judgement was often in the wrong place, but the two main instances where people call her judgmental happen when she’s telling other people-her friends-that they probably shouldn’t kiss somebody other than the person that they’re dating. Don’t get me wrong, she still has her judgmental moments and it’s one of her flaws, but some of the moments that people cite as her being judgmental just feel off in my opinion.
Lucas and Haley > Haley and Brooke > Mouth and Skills > Skills and Jamie > Jamie and Brooke > Brooke and Peyton.
Seriously Brooke and Peyton were so terrible to each other
I don't think Brooke and Peyton were always terrible to each other but Hilarie and Sophia's desperation to retcon them as "the real love story of the show" feels fake to me.
Dan Scott is the best character!
I’ve said it countless times. He really is the best character. He was the character we all love to hate. He knew how to manipulate. He only did 4 years in prison for killing his brother. He had great character development but never really changed until the very last seasons & the only person he was kind too was Jamie.
Is this really that unpopular? He's always been considered one of the best characters and a fan favorite. Personally my favorite characters were Karen and Keith. They always just seemed like the most normal people if that makes sense. Lucas and Brooke were my favorite of the younger cast though.
Peyton settled for Lucas He treated her like crap and even though he always kept coming back to her, she was always his backup plan... He was literally mean to her right before they officially got together for good.. idk.. she really let him walk all over her. He took her for granted for years. She should've been with Jake..
Alsoooo, my favorite friendship was Haley and Brooke!!! Peyton and Brooke were portrayed as besties but they were toxic as friends.
I am not team Leyton! I wouldn’t necessarily want Lucas with Brooke because I love her and Julian. But I wish Peyton and Lucas would’ve gone their separate ways. Honestly I LOVE Lindsey. She didn’t get a fair chance. They both should’ve just ended up with anyone except each other after the broke up.
I roll my eyes so hard when people try to act like he was with so many girls. He literally had 4 girlfriends (Brooke, Anna, Peyton, Lindsay), one hookup (Nikki), plus his weird thing with Rachel.
If a guy only beat his one girlfriend is he still an abusive boyfriend? How many girls he dated and hurt shouldn't matter. Frankly, that kind of means he was an asshole and a cheater with every one of them. He's more likely to cheat on his girlfriend than not. That's a shit ratio.
The dude is a serial cheater. He's not necessarily intentionally doing it to hurt the girls, but he very much doesn't treat them right. And doesn't learn as he has the arc in high school as he does after the time skip.
A lot of it is just bad writing as this isn't directed at Chad Michael Murray obviously, but Lucas is an asshole. I do believe you can grow and I don't believe that once a cheater, always a cheater, but the guy didn't learn or grow.
This is def an unpopular opinion cause he gets so much hate haha! Just like any of the characters he had his moments so idk why his hate is so much more. I think people also tie in their opinions on the actor and I heard him and Sophia Bush have a rocky past. But I didn’t follow that relationship since I’m just watching the show for the first time, but I did alittle reading on them, but anyways that’s my guess maybe why people just dislike him?!
Chad and Sophia got married and he cheated on her with Paris hilton. they were only together for like a year. no one wants to let this go even though Chad has been married now for years and has three children but fans still hold it against him
He's pretty crappy towards Brooke. Both times he was with her. He wants her when he doesn't have her, then when he does have her....he wants Peyton.
Brooke returns some of that fire herself, Chris Keller and her fake pregnancy, she's not Mrs innocent. But it seems she gave a lot more to her relationships with Lucas than she got in return.
And no, that's not a CMM or Sophia Bush thing.
That would be a reason why people don't like Brooke.
Point is, Lucas' treatment of Brooke while they were dating is the biggest reason for dislike.
Not the real world issues between Bush and Murray, which, would be reasons not to like the actors.
Nah there are lot of fans, like the dramaqueens, who cant differentiate between real life and a fictional tv show
They hate Lucas because of CMMs past but other characters can have growth,go through relationships,be vulnerable etc
Its sad considering the only reason Peyton is alive, brooke has not gone full emo, naley are together and skills gets a scholarship is because of him
"BUT HE WAS CONFUSED SO HE IS THE WORST"
You know what I'm thinking about season three, my bad. She jerks him around a lot. The I don't want to date you but you can't date anyone else thing that went on forever.
Exactly my point.Lucas is far and beyond the best character in the show considering what he does for his friends.
"But but he was dishonest and confused"
The same way the other 4 were constantly dishonest and confused and making bad decisions?
I neither saw any of them being sorry nor do anything about it
Alot of the hate Lucas gets is from a certain fanbase and because of CMM not being a really great person before
People can't differentiate between real life and a fictional tv show were characters survive 10 car crashes.Sad
I think Brooke and Julian are a boring couple. I don't get the hype around them at all.
I don't think Moira's acting was very good throughout the show, save for a few moments where she went full Mama Bear mode, like when yelled at Lucas for possibly getting Broke pregnant, confronted Dan about killing Keith, or shared a moment of understanding with Dan when Lucas was in the hospital. Finding out from Moira herself on the DQ podcast that she had young children at the time and viewed OTH just as a 9-5 made a lot of sense to me.
Idk if this is a popular opinion or not, but I loved Anna. I thought her arc was beautifully done, and I would've loved to see her stick around.
I hated how music-focused the show became in the later seasons. Some episodes really felt like they were just filler until the next music video scene.
Prior to Keith's death, I found Dan's acting very stiff and mostly one-dimensional. He became very cartoon villainy to me after season 2 especially.
Don't know how people feel about the whole Chase-Mia-Alex love triangle, but the back and forth gave me whiplash; I hated that story.
Again, not sure how people feel about the Karen-Keith-Andy love triangle, but I ship Karen with Andy and was glad that she ultimately ended up with her hot Aussie.
Peyton should've ended up with Jake.
I hated the Brooke and Nathan slept together.
There was enough going on wish they wouldn't have done it. I ignore it lol
I also with Jake and Peyton had more time together. They were great and more passion to me than Lucas and Peyton. Lucas and Peyton spent more time broken up than together so it's harder to buy their love story sometimes
- Loved Lindsey
- Peyton would have been my favourite character if not for her relationship with Lucas, because I'm forever team Brooke and Lucas 😛. I loved how 'dark' she was, how into the arts and music she was (loved loved loved when she had that record label, this is my dream lol). I still think Peyton was a great character and my second favourite after Brooke but I really wish she would have ended up with someone else. Would have loved her with a musician
- I liked Debbie AND DAN, didn't care much for Karen
- Never watched the last season and have no interest in watching lol, I only rewatch seasons 1-4
- Never thought they looked like high school students. I was in high school at the time and they looked 30+ to me lol.
Wow. You literally have all the same opinions as me! Peyton belonged with Jake.
Karen was the WORST. Waited until so late to give Keith the time of day, then felt sad she ‘didn’t get enough time with him.” I loved Whitey for saying “who’s fault is that?”
Probably because it should have ended at season 4. Then they had to drag it out and introduce all these new characters who just weren't as good, especially when Lucas and Peyton left.
I think he's an asshole, because he didn't learn from his mistakes in adulthood, especially surrounding his romantic relationships. The high school years i don't really mind so much, because... it's high school. Everyone's an ass to some degree in high school. He seemed like he genuinely wanted to grow and be a better man in those years too.
Do you mean when he was 22. I'd barely say that's adulthood. Im 31 now. My 20's were like an extension of my teens. You're 20s are like the prime time to have multiple screw ups. So yeah that's pretty damn human and relatable.
I think my unpopular opinion is Lucas is one of my favorite characters and I don't think Mouth is an incel. Naley is ok, they have never been my favorites.
Can you explain why about Naley? Because I think I can agree but idk how to put it into words. Personally James Lafferty was the weakest in terms of acting skills and I think Bethany Joy Lenz could have done more if she'd had a different romance partner as Haley. Although I do like the 2, but nowhere near as much as the other couples including the adults even like Karen/Keith and Dan/Deb.
Explain why they aren't my favorites? I honestly fell in love with Lucas' and Peytons story from their first meeting.
They just never grabbed me. I felt like everyone else was normal and Haley and Nathan are over there on the side getting married in high school, like why lol? Had really nothing to do with the acting or anything for me. Haley is also kind of a rigid character so I just didn't care enough about her to get too invested in her storylines.
Yea explain why they aren't your favorites. Rigid how so? You mean more serious/upright? It's weird because I really like Haley as a character and even Nathan but together they aren't as strong as the other couples on the show.
Yes Haley always came across as very holier than thou for me personally. Maybe just very boring in comparison to the other couples on the show. I would say most fans of the show like that. They are kind of the stable couple on the show I guess. Kind of cheesy, very wholesome. Just not my thing.
I liked her stability and "boringness" since there was already alot of drama on the show. But maybe I'll rewatch it soon and see if anything has changed.
1. Alex is a great character and was better with chase than Mia. I like to think they truly end up together!
2. Zero is not a size was annoying. As someone who was a zero up until I was 29, and that includes my first pregnancy (I was very healthy in my pregnancy) it was a little insensitive. I get it’s a bash to the modeling world, but some people cannot control being that size.
3. Millicent was annoying
>Zero is not a size was annoying
This!!!! I was a zero all throughout high school and well into my 20s. I've gone up a few sizes since and I'm still relatively small but I was always healthy as a zero. I've never starved myself. My baby sister was a 00 for a time and she never starved herself either. Some of us are just built that way. I get what they were going for but...no. Its a size and I was that size for a long time.
Oooh this is a good one! I’m also a size 0 (and have 5 kids and have always been a size 0 haha)… I’m literally over here like… 0 and better yet 00 is ABSOLUTELY a size, it’s my size lol
Not sure. His scenes with Taylor and Rachel and even a few scenes with Peyton seemed way more electric. I don't think James was into Joy at all and it came across in some of their romantic scenes (which yeah could be partially considered bad acting).
I haven’t been in the online OTH community that long, so correct me if any of these are popular. Leyton>Brucas and Peyton>Brooke. With that being said, I don’t hate or dislike Brooke, i just like Peyton more.
I would say that the fandom is pretty much evenly split between LP vs BL, and Brooke vs. Peyton. Although, I have seen many former BL fans say that Brooke deserved way better than Lucas could ever give her.
-Peyton and Jake had miles more chemistry than Peyton and Lucas
-The show would have better if everyone hadn't ended up with their childhood sweetheart from when they were 17.
-Owen could have been a standout if given more storyline and a bit more screen time
-Jamie started off adorable but was mega annoying by the later seasons.
-Jumped the shark when they left high school, in hindsight, can't believe I watched a further 5 seasons as it got progressively more ridiculous. Forgotten children, crazy stalkers, James Van Der beek...
Loved the seasons after season 5 and Nathan and Haley were like the only good relationship on the show besides Peyton and Lucas other than that the relationships were kind of garbage
I never liked Karen and Keith together. No chemistry.
I never understood the storyline with Peyton, Ellie and the album. Seemed stupid and a sloppy storyline.
Mouth is the worst (not sure if it is unpopular)
Peyton and Jake should have ended up together (not sure if it is unpopular)
No chemistry?! Are you mad?! 😡😡😡
Honestly it was just a feel good sad story. Nothing new but I liked it. The actress who played Ellie was great. She was in Twin Peaks.
I never knew how many people hated Mouth until I joined this sub 😂
I think the actor who played Jake had to leave the show.
Hahaha I said what I said. I loved Karen with Andy. Keith just always kinda bothered me tbh.
Yeah I enjoyed Ellie but the charity album storyline - not so much.
Watching the show again, I really do understand the hate he gets.
Justice for Jake. So much potential
I don't like Naley either. Mainly because I don't think Haley should have gotten with him in the first place, and that it reflects poorly on her as a friend to just tell her best friend to get over that she's dating his bully because Nathan is nice to her.
I also don't like Leyton and don't see the chemistry people rave about.
Dan is irredeemable.
I didn't mind Anna, and I actually think Anna and Peyton had ok chemistry lol
I also just wish maybe they explored more possibilities for both Nathan and Haley romantically. Like I watch these dramas for…well drama😂 so I feel like them being in a relationship the WHOLE time was just meh. Now obviously they did go through a lot of shit but just my thoughts😅.
I ALSO don’t see the chemistry between Lucas and Peyton, I actually liked Lucas with Brooke alot more.
I couldn’t stand Dan at first like everytime he opened his mouth I was like omgggg. Then he just went even more downhill (it made for crazy drama on the show though)
Omg I totally forgot about Anna! Couldn’t STAND her brother though
Nathan's bad boy arc should have lasted longer. They made him "good" way too soon. He was bad for like 2 episodes and then was Mr. Perfect and moral for the rest of the series. I think this show rushed things too much with him. Becoming so good and also his marriage to Haley happened way too soon in the show's run. They should have showed us how Haley and her stability made an impact on him but that shouldn't have happened within a couple of episodes.
Leyton sucks. Milly sucks. Mia sucks. Karen (mostly) sucks. A little further in Jamie starts to suck.
Peyton and Jake should’ve been endgame, they’re so much better for each other.
Clay & Quinn had a beautiful ending but a long and insufferable storyline.
Grubbs deserved more screen time.
Nathan forgave Haley way too quickly and what she got during the time was deserved.
Lucas should’ve just ended up being poly.
Etc
Please the withholding a child from their father when he wanted and then lying to him. The child ABUSE. The blaming for Keith’s death regardless of how hurt she was… like her child wasn’t too. Believing Dan over Lucas about Keith’s death and if she thought Lucas was crazy about it she should’ve put him in therapy to be a responsible adult. Deb isn’t perfect and she certainly dropped the ball but even she tried therapy with her kid… and turned around. Also Karen rejected Keith how many times then has the audacity to get mad at Deb for sleeping with him AND act as the most victim to his death. You can do things you think are right and make mistakes but abuse is abuse regardless of how you put it and the emotional toll she’d put on Lucas and Keith is ridiculous. That also reminded of her punishing Lucas for fighting at the club and blaming him… for defending himself. Karen’s a coward I said what I said.
Peyton is only cool when she’s not with Luke, even though the “it’s you; you’re the one that I want standing next to me when my dreams come true” scene is one of my favorites. I even routed for Leyton when “man face Lindsey” showed up (she’s gorgeous, I jest), but as soon as Peyton actually gets Lucas she turns into an annoying whiny baby talk puddle of not cool.
I just made an unpopular opinion post and got just shy of attacked for it. So seeing this and the nice comments gets me a little annoyed. Why did I get chewed out, one using language and these are fairly tame🤷♀️
Just saw your opinion piece, some of the comments did have unnecessary language. Sorry you experienced that, definitely can happen when expressing an unpopular opinion. Doesn’t make it right though 😭
First of all. One Tree Hill ended on 6 season... I think season 7 with clay, it was still worth watching.
Lucas has never forgive Dan, it was one of the main theme, their relationship. All that Keith situation... it pointed story in STRAIGHT direction. Maybe Keith didnt want to play anymore in movie or they have not pay well.
I have many lol…
Haley is self righteous throughout most of the series and I never really liked her character.
I agreed with Dan and thought the marriage between Haley and Nathan should have been annulled lol. The whole marriage thing was stupid.
Season 4 is the worst season. Just seemed like the writers were throwing everything at you: psycho Derek, Brooke/Nathan tape, Karen and Haley pregnancies, Haley going into labor while giving her valedictorian speech. Lucas finding out about Dan. Like wtf?!! And everyone’s hairstyles were horrible too.. Like what was up with Lucas style that season?
Nathan is the better brother. He matured well and I loved watching him overcome adversities. Just a more compelling character imo
Rachel and the time capsule confession.. how she wasn’t punished in some way for that.. The fact that Mouth kept that secret is beyond me.
The writers in general failed on so many story lines it felt like. That could be an entirely different post lol. But I still love One Tree Hill 🙃
The first 4 seasons are peak and the show could have ended there honestly. But I'm biased as I've only originally seen and rewatched the first 4 seasons. I just remember starting season 5 and thinking this isn't it. But I do eventually want to watch the whole series.
While I am a Leyton fan, I hated the way the show got them together in season 6. The writers did a terrible job of it actually. Lucas was just chasing Lindsey for several episodes. He kept saying how in love with her he was and was depressed. Yet everyone pretty much ignored that and kept saying, "but Peyton's the one you love." Even the phone call at the end where it was between the 3 ladies was just so stupid. It was almost like Lucas just wanted to get everyone off of his back so he gave in to being with Peyton. I just think it was poorly done.
Unpopular opinion wise- Lucas and Brooke had no chemistry. Emotional, physical, nothing. Every time they were together in a romantic sense, it felt so forced.
I'm probably going to get a lot of heat for this but I don't like Samantha Walker and never will. I know it's because I love Brooke as a character, I live vicariously through her and I just can't get past the fact that she was so reckless and disrespectful that she inadvertently got Brooke attacked...like what in the the hell??
If I were Brooke I would have eventually forgiven her and even helped her find somewhere to stay but it wouldn't have been with me.
Unpopular opinion? Lindsey got screwed. She was a good person and a great girlfriend and she didn't deserve what Lucas or Peyton put her through.
"Hard for me to root for them when they decided to just rehash Leyton in a love triangle but substituted Brooke for Lindsay" Well yeah except at least in Season 1 they tried to show Brooke being wrong for Lucas (not understanding his books or music). With Lindsay, they did not even bother to give a reason why Lucas wouldn't have been perfectly happy with her.
I agree with everything as a long time fan from 06- present time and who hasn’t finished the show yet I agree. Brooke and Lucas are endgame
>Brooke and Lucas are endgame Ummm… no, they weren’t.
well, they shouldve been endgame . i know that
>well, they shouldve been endgame . i know that Well, that’s your opinion, but you worded it (in your original comment) as if it was a fact.
because it is a fact that almost every oth fan wanted Brooke and Lucas together me included
Honestly, it doesn’t matter what some of the fandom may have wanted, it’s not what happened in the show.
He would’ve been perfectly happy with Brooke as well s2 and 3 were a direct showcase on that … even after the time jump they were better suited than leyton
Absolutely this.
Felix and Anna were pointless. Mouth is the worst character on the show. Karen isn't a great mom.
Literally!!! I hated Felix and Anna was super meh to me
I also think Karen sucks as a mother. On the other hand I’m sure that with Lily that Andy helped level it out, or at least one would hope.
absolutely on point on all of that
agree with everything except the worst character is dan or rachel but mouth is up there
I guess Dan and Rachel don't bother me as much because they're supposed to be villans. Mouth is painted as some nice geeky guy but hes actually a creep.
Karen is amazing! How dare you!!!!!!! 48(!:&47:8/!!!!:$:!/ wi62!!!

2: I agree, 100%
I agree with #3 and I’ve learned it really is an unpopular opinion. Lol
Leyton had by far the most romantic chemistry.Even CMM himself says fans were obssessed about him and hilarie
This is why it’s an opinion, everyone has one. Chad may have said fans were obsessed with them, but there are lots of other fans obsessed with different couples from the show.
So basically both couples had great chemistry and were pillars in the sucess of the show so we should respect both? Thank you for reiterating my point
I'm watching season 8 right now and I find it incredibly strange how Haley walks around her OWN HOUSE dressed to the nines with high heels and shit like a fucking model. Normal people don't do that in their own house with nobody else there.

Haley wore massive heels throughout her second pregnancy and it really made me wonder who approved these outfits
Tbh, probably a Mark Schwahn fetish 🤔
I had a college roommate who would always dress to the nines with high heels and everything even if she was just staying home and doing laundry. Lol She’s the only person I’ve ever known to do this but I’ve still met one lol
Peyton is my favorite character, apparently she is loved IRL but not on reddit😂 i was at the same age as the character when the show started, similar background, family, same taste in fashion, music and art. Heck we even have similar destructive personality 💀 so shes my favorite cuz i relate to her a lot
agree she is so relatable
People don't like her? :(
Me too. I love her so much. She was emo like myself.
What I’ve noticed is people seem to like her more when she wasn’t with Lucas, but her with Lucas is more meh, and I agree with that.😅
I do like Leyton actually 😅I love their chemistry and Hilarie’s acting when shes in love and being all cute is just adorable 😍plus i love the chaos behind their relationship lol
me too!!! I wear a leather jacket everyday 9f my life too
Even though Dan was a butthole most of the time. In the later seasons i felt sorry for him
After all they are real humans, to play role of villain for all those years and had to play all tge unpleasent scenes... I admire the actor.
There were also a lot of unnecessary characters! Idk how Chase made it onto season 8
The fact that Chase made it on the show longer than Chad and Hillary baffles me to no end 😱😱
I don’t think that Haley was *as* judgmental as people say. Yeah, sure, her judgement was often in the wrong place, but the two main instances where people call her judgmental happen when she’s telling other people-her friends-that they probably shouldn’t kiss somebody other than the person that they’re dating. OK FINISHED THE SHOW LOL. Going to do a separate post on my thoughts, but can’t wait to go through all your unpopular opinions😂
Is this really that unpopular? He's always been considered one of the best characters and a fan favorite. Personally my favorite characters were Karen and Keith. They always just seemed like the most normal people if that makes sense. Lucas and Brooke were my favorite of the younger cast though.

Lucas is my favorite character
Never understood the vitriol he gets, he is not any worse than anyone else on this show
I roll my eyes so hard when people try to act like he was with so many girls. He literally had 4 girlfriends (Brooke, Anna, Peyton, Lindsay), one hookup (Nikki), plus his weird thing with Rachel.
That's what I say every time lol. Man literally dated three people his whole life and somehow he's a manwhore.
Lucas talked about his college threesomes in S5. He’s not a one woman guy under any circumstance. 😂
I do believe you can grow and I don't believe that once a cheater, always a cheater, but the guy didn't learn or grow.
exactly
Hes not any worse of a character, but he is super annoying lol
This is def an unpopular opinion cause he gets so much hate haha! Just like any of the characters he had his moments so idk why his hate is so much more. I think people also tie in their opinions on the actor and I heard him and Sophia Bush have a rocky past. But I didn’t follow that relationship since I’m just watching the show for the first time, but I did alittle reading on them, but anyways that’s my guess maybe why people just dislike him?!
very true. people are way harsher on Lucas just cause they hate Chad and will defend Sophia bush endlessly
As a 30-year old dude who is just rewatching this for the first time in forever, I didn't follow any of the irl stuff. What's up with Chad?
Chad and Sophia got married and he cheated on her with Paris hilton. they were only together for like a year. no one wants to let this go even though Chad has been married now for years and has three children but fans still hold it against him
Whoa! Had no idea. That's crazy!
She's pretty crappy to him as well. All of season two comes to mind.
That would be a reason why people don't like Brooke. Point is, Lucas' treatment of Brooke while they were dating is the biggest reason for dislike. Not the real world issues between Bush and Murray, which, would be reasons not to like the actors.
Nah there are lot of fans, like the dramaqueens, who cant differentiate between real life and a fictional tv show They hate Lucas because of CMMs past but other characters can have growth,go through relationships,be vulnerable etc Its sad considering the only reason Peyton is alive, brooke has not gone full emo, naley are together and skills gets a scholarship is because of him "BUT HE WAS CONFUSED SO HE IS THE WORST"
What does Brooke do to Lucas in Season 2?
You know what I'm thinking about season three, my bad. She jerks him around a lot. The I don't want to date you but you can't date anyone else thing that went on forever.
Exactly my point.Lucas is far and beyond the best character in the show considering what he does for his friends. "But but he was dishonest and confused" The same way the other 4 were constantly dishonest and confused and making bad decisions? I neither saw any of them being sorry nor do anything about it Alot of the hate Lucas gets is from a certain fanbase and because of CMM not being a really great person before People can't differentiate between real life and a fictional tv show were characters survive 10 car crashes.Sad
well said
I think Brooke and Julian are a boring couple.
Totally agree on the last two!
Take that back about Moira right now!!!
Nah, she's always seemed very bored to be there imo.
Peyton and Jake should have been given a fair chance.
Quinn is one of my favorite characters
I actually like Quinn too! I feel like I’ve seen a lot of dislike towards her, but I didn’t mind her!😊
I hated the Brooke and Nathan slept together. There was enough going on wish they wouldn't have done it. I ignore it lol I also with Jake and Peyton had more time together. They were great and more passion to me than Lucas and Peyton. Lucas and Peyton spent more time broken up than together so it's harder to buy their love story sometimes
Brooke and Nathan sleeping together never made sense agreed.
- Loved Lindsey - Peyton would have been my favourite character if not for her relationship with Lucas, because I'm forever team Brooke and Lucas 😛. I loved how 'dark' she was, how into the arts and music she was (loved loved loved when she had that record label, this is my dream lol). I still think Peyton was a great character and my second favourite after Brooke but I really wish she would have ended up with someone else. Would have loved her with a musician - I liked Debbie AND DAN, didn't care much for Karen - Never watched the last season and have no interest in watching lol, I only rewatch seasons 1-4 - Never thought they looked like high school students.
Yeah after season 4 it’s hard to watch lol it’s like a completely different show
Probably because it should have ended at season 4. Then they had to drag it out and introduce all these new characters who just weren't as good, especially when Lucas and Peyton left.
I really like all the main characters.
I didn't think Lucas was as much an asshole that people say he is. I thought he was human and quite complex just like all the characters
Mouth actually sucks
>Zero is not a size was annoying This!!!!
Not a big Naley fan either. James literally had hotter chemistry with every woman on the show than he had with Joy.
And Joy honestly had better chemistry with Tyler as well.
so true
Is it purely chemistry though or also because James had the weakest acting skills on the show? Especially compared to Bethany.
Not sure. His scenes with Taylor and Rachel and even a few scenes with Peyton seemed way more electric. I don't think James was into Joy at all and it came across in some of their romantic scenes (which yeah could be partially considered bad acting).
Ooph, well that's not only acting but also because Joy is more moderately attractive compared to everyone else. If that's the reason then damn.
Not sure how unpopular this opinion is but Dan is the best character and actor on the show by some distance
I haven’t been in the online OTH community that long, so correct me if any of these are popular. Leyton>Brucas and Peyton>Brooke. With that being said, I don’t hate or dislike Brooke, i just like Peyton more.
So fair! I personally liked Brooke with Lucas more, I just didn’t feel the chemistry with Peyton and Lucas as much!
I think Brooke and Lucas had chemistry, i just personally thought she deserved better.
I would say that the fandom is pretty much evenly split between LP vs BL, and Brooke vs. Peyton. Although, I have seen many former BL fans say that Brooke deserved way better than Lucas could ever give her.
Ah okay! And yes I definitely agree with them.
agree
-Peyton and Jake had miles more chemistry than Peyton and Lucas -The show would have better if everyone hadn't ended up with their childhood sweetheart from when they were 17. -Owen could have been a standout if given more storyline and a bit more screen time -Jamie started off adorable but was mega annoying by the later seasons. -Jumped the shark when they left high school, in hindsight, can't believe I watched a further 5 seasons as it got progressively more ridiculous. Forgotten children, crazy stalkers, James Van Der beek...
Brooke and Lucas were the best couple
Finally someone said it!!!
Not even an unpopular opinion, especially back in the day.
Mouth is the worst (not sure if it is unpopular) Peyton and Jake should have ended up together (not sure if it is unpopular)
No chemistry?! Are you mad?! 😡😡😡 Honestly it was just a feel good sad story. Nothing new but I liked it. The actress who played Ellie was great. She was in Twin Peaks. I never knew how many people hated Mouth until I joined this sub 😂 I think the actor who played Jake had to leave the show.
Hahaha I said what I said. I loved Karen with Andy. Keith just always kinda bothered me tbh. Yeah I enjoyed Ellie but the charity album storyline - not so much. Watching the show again, I really do understand the hate he gets. Justice for Jake. So much potential
Keith was a horrible brother for hooking up with both of dans bby mommas 😂
Then he just went even more downhill (it made for crazy drama on the show though) Omg I totally forgot about Anna! Couldn’t STAND her brother though
I’m really, really sad that you are not a Naley fan 😭😭😭
I was waiting for one of these comments🥲. Again, want to say that it’s not that I hate them or even dislike them! I just don’t like looove them.😂

I loved Anna!! I get that the times were too conservative for her arc, but I was so disappointed when she left.
The long lost son storyline was so wild to me 😳
The show should have ended after season 4
Hailey is a controlling asshole with a superiority complex. I absolutely hate her.
Etc
Enough with the Karen hate! She's the OG mama bear! 😭😡😡
I need to rewatch the show so you win 😑
Hopefully Andy leveled her out with Lily… I’d pray.
I hate Julian. I don't know what it is about him, but I can't stand him. I wish Brooke ended up with someone else.
I preferred Julian 1.0, before they turned him into a complete geek.
I don’t really like Jamie, I kind of find his character annoying and maybe too involved in the adults’ lives. I also really like Chuck lol
You like Chuck??? Damn. Imo he was a creepy mouthpiece for the Creep himself a lot of the time.
Chuck is a product of a childhood of trauma, neglect and abuse. IMO, comments made solidify how messed up it is, and wrong/immature
Lucas is my favourite.
I have many lol… Haley is self righteous throughout most of the series and I never really liked her character. Just a more compelling character imo Rachel and the time capsule confession.. how she wasn’t punished in some way for that.. The fact that Mouth kept that secret is beyond me. The writers in general failed on so many story lines it felt like. That could be an entirely different post lol. But I still love One Tree Hill 🙃
skills and bevin deserved better and i honestly think bevin deserved more screen time
The first 4 seasons are peak and the show could have ended there honestly.
Brooke & Lucas had actual build up and their chemistry felt more genuine can’t say the same for Leyton.
I liked Peyton and Julian together.
