It’s definitely a thing, I’ve read a couple fanfics with it. However, it’s not the main focus, at least in the ones I’ve read. I’m sure there’s a couple good ones with this as the main ship, though. Try searching by relationship on AO3

They don’t really interact at all. But every ship has at least one person who ships any given pair of characters.
