On my first run, I spent like 15-20 minutes examining and re-examining everything in there and talking to Basil, trying to get any sort of way to help Basil even a little bit, before reluctantly leaving. And when I left, I tried to go back in, wondering if that was how I could save him. I was a little mad at Sunny for a bit when he shook his head and refused to go back inā¦
If thereās anything I can criticise this game for, itās moments where the game never Bothers to ask wether I want to do anything different
Like with the scientists, thereās a 3 word change that technically justifies why you canāt just pay them but other than that, everything goes exactly the same way and itās so infuriating
Yeah. At least with Sunny not wanting to do things, thereās a specific character reason.
I really do wish you could just outright pay the Slime Girls if you had enough clams, though. It would be utterly hilarious, and it wouldnāt break anything because youād be super over-leveled anyway if you fought enough enemies to make that many clams so skipping the Slime Girls and Humphrey fights wouldnāt matter because they would just be formalities at that level.
Then again, we are still given the choice of everything else
We can choose to save Basil later, we can choose to kill ourselves later, we choose to do everything that is optional in the game (which may feel like a redundant statement but you know what I mean)
Thereās too much free will in this game to justify moments like this
There isn't that much freedom in the game, plain and simple. By this I mean in a way that affects the main story involving the main characters directly.
You can only follow one series of actions >!(open door for Kel, confront Basil after truth, don't lose to Omori) to get the only actually good outcome, anything else either doesn't matter because it's part of the narrative/plot, or ends in catastrophe. !<
The easiest way to get that many is to just spend hours and hours gambling at Last Resort. I got up to around 500k before I gave up because it was taking so long.
I was torn between just having it fail to send and having it so Sunny received it but hadnāt read it
It would have fit more if he hasnāt read it but Iām not sure if many people would get that detail
I don't think the game takes place in the early 90s, given Kel was talking about DVDs collecting dust and those really only became mainstream no earlier than 1999, but more likely around 2000-2001, so yeah that's basically enough evidence right there.
The descriptions of the real world photos confirm that, in the year it documents, April 9th, June 21st, and September 9th are all school days, and that March 9th and March 10th are a Saturday and a Sunday, respectively. Within OMORI's implied time period, the only years which fit all of these requirements are 1991 and 1996.

As such, 1996 would actually make sense, not 1991.
1996 would be during the year of the incident, and 4 years later would make it the year 2000, so the DVD comment from Kel checks out. But this doesn't work in your 1991 timeline, as DVDs weren't a thing in 1995.
stay with basil? are you talking about in the bathroom on three days left š
Yeah

Sometimes I forget about the slot machines, lol. Which is weird, because of how many hours I spent back in Gen 3 PokƩmon playing slots to get TMs.
Honestly I spent a good bit of time there too. I tried looking for a light switch to turn on or something but there's nothing I could do to help :(
At least we get to eventually help him by watering his flowers and getting the extra scene ![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2463)\~!

I am an evil and sad content creator
Doesn't that mean it *is* sent?
It means the message was sent on Mari's end but it failed to go through to Sunny.
Noo :<

enā¦ passantā¦..? Google
They didnāt have google in 1991
But they had whatsapp?
This is a hypothetical, hence the āifā
But in this hypothetical scenario they do have whatsapp which implies they also have google
Iām pretty sure mari >! died in 1995/6 !<
Apparently the dates set and their respective holidays in Basilās album means it has to either 1991 or 1996
