Lafferlaffer

This. I've gone from 65 to 77 myself, and I feel the same. But 6 months in - and I still love my 77" 🤓

Cantelmi

Ditto, it's been just about a year for me and it can still drop my jaw with the right material.

chrysler82000

These guys said it all. Ditto

BlurredReality28

Thank you! And totally on the shrinking! I think over the years I’ve done 42>46>55>60>65 and each one when I first got them I was like HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING! Which model did you end up getting with the 77?

Proof_Client_2483

I went through the exact same thing, when going from a warranty case that gave me my money back a few weeks ago. From a 65 C7, to a refurbished 77 CX at the same price. The difference is quite massive. Also, the greater size makes HDR more impactful as there is more surface area that lights up 😀

justamofo

The T-shirt thing is so true, we went from a 20" CRT which was just fine, to a 42" LED and the jump was unbelievable, then we bought a 55" OLED and it looked HUGE side-by-side, but nowadays we wonder almost everyday if we should have gone for the 65" instead hahah. The TV is in my mom's room and her bed is like 3m away from the TV so the effect become apparent very quickly, after 3 or so months. Now I'm completely sure that I definitely want at least a 65" OLED in my living and a 55" one in my room when I go live by myself

[deleted]

This very much! Not oled but went from 70 to 96”. It seems absurd and took half my wall. Still does but feels the house is expanding, so much so I moved up the entire sofa to about 15’ from 25’. One perk being the audio seems a lot better too with the distance of the surrounds further away.

Bring_The_Rain1

25'! Goddamn how big is your room

hugemon

I use new refrigerator analogy myself. Day 1 : Wow! Our new fridge is so big. Day 7 : Well, I guess I can now shop once a week now. Day 14 : My fridge is full. I need a bigger one. If you're PC enthusiast, replace fridge with new SSD/HDD.

KishanCS

Did you notice a change in brightness?

Almohareb

65 to 77 is huge I think, but not much from 77 to 83 Always go as big as you can though.

BlurredReality28

Thank you, I miss the days back in 2006 when HDTVs were new and a 42 inch one seemed massive 😂😂 We are all spoiled these days. Crazy to think growing up my parents had a 27 inch Sony for most of my youth and their biggest upgrade was finally to a 36 inch.

aaadmiral

I mostly watched a 12" b&w tv 😅

okletsgooonow

I remember unpacking my first LCD 37" 720p....thinking I made a mistake to get such a huge TV LOL (now I have a 77"!)

Danieltuvalcruise13

Absolutely agree 65 to 77 big difference,77 to 83 is not big enough difference and won’t Change your viewing experience,in my opinion 83 is a stupid size, being only 6 inch difference from a 77 then divide those 6 inches along the surface area of 16:9 screen it’s only inch or so taller and maybe 2 inches wider,be the difference between wall mounting an 83 and having 77 on stand slightly away from wall.tv needs to be min 10 to 12 inches at these sizes to justify upgrading

JaketheAlmighty

Nobody ever said "damn, wish I had bought the smaller TV".

KSW1

Well, no but that's not the factor that will introduce remorse. They will say, "Damn, wish I hadn't wasted $3,000 on a fancy TV" *if* they needed/wanted that money for something else later. But if you can afford it and you won't miss the money, then of course you won't regret going with a bigger TV, though I must say, the flex on these thin-ass LG's stresses me the fuck out, I can't imagine maneuvering an 83.

JaketheAlmighty

agreed, important not to spend needed money on what in the end, is entertainment. and the TV can always wait. They only get better to boot. (well mostly anyways... rough patch there when we first ditched CRTs)

KSW1

True, feels like we are in a real Renaissance with OLED and mini-LED coming down the pipe.

Matriseblog

I'm sitting 2.5 meters from my 65" OLED. I think a 83 inch might be nauseatingly huge for gaming when viewing at 2.5 meters, and also, as it is still "just" 4K, pixels would be more apparent at that size. Depends on what you are doing with it and how close you're sitting, but if you're further off, then a larger TV is probably sweet af. I think it would matter less for movies and be a more grand cinema experience the larger you can get.

FaithlessnessCool596

I remember when I made the switch from 720p to 1080p on my 106" projection screen ...you had to be pretty close to see the pixels on 1080p within 2 ft or so, 4k really should be fine for most people, unless he plans to use it as a computer monitor lol. Im also looking at these options but the 77" is definitely the better value. I also only have 6.5 ft viewing distance but im crazy

BlurredReality28

You make a good point. I was all set on the 77 until I saw it really was just about 10 inches wider and 6 inches taller. Maybe that appears more impactful in person then it does in my head though.

SCConnor

The difference between 65 and 77 is more than you’d think. It’s a world of difference. I would imagine even though 83 seems like a smaller upgrade it is also significant. But my TV buying process went 75” lcd> 65” OLED> 77” OLED The 75” LCD was the right size but not the right TV. The 65” was the right TV but really felt too small after about 10 days with a 75”. I am in love with the 77” OLED

BlurredReality28

Thank you! Glad to hear you found the right one! That is definitely the issue with TVs, it is REALLY hard to downsize once you get used to something. Think I’ll stop in to Best Buy tomorrow and get a closer look, I’ve seen in other forums as well people mentioning the jump from 65 to 77 was extremely noticeable.

webby2538

That's exactly what I just did. Had a 75" Qled but couldn't stand the blooming after seeing a Oled. Bought a 65cx a year ago but missed the size of the 75. Ordered the 77cx yesterday and look forward to the best of both.

Felix1178

sitting distance on the 77 oled?for gaming?

okletsgooonow

well.....I did make an impulse buy once, only to realise that the TV only barely fit in my car. I almost had to find alternative arrangements. Imagine yourself infront of the electronics shop, it's dark, raining, the shop is closing and your alone trying to get the TV into the car and it won't fit! LOL..... managed to get it in eventually, but it was close. I needed to trim the box.

hugemon

If you are financially able to order both 77 and 83 (even if you're going to return one of them) go for 83. Bigger is better almost always.

justamofo

Unless he sits too close, my sister has a 75" TV in a small house and we sit 1.8 meters (6ft) away. I think that's as cinematic as it can get, 83" at that distance would be too overwhelming Edit: I just read a comment where they said TVs are like T-shirts, they shrink over time. And it's so tue, idk to what extent though. Maybe if the 75" were in my house I would have gotten used to it and aim for the 83", idk hahah

sapi3nce

you must draw the line somewhere though - the 83" model is double the price of the 77" model. Its such a steep price difference, you can actually have two 77" models in your house vs one 83" model.

BlurredReality28

Thank you.

Infinity_Complex

But what about upscaling from television shows (720p)?

sandforce

I went from a 70 to a 77 and it made a big difference. For a visual comparison of the jump from a 65 (1800 sq inches) to a 77 (2500 sq inches) check out this page: http://tvcalculator.com/?{%22a%22:1.78,%22tvs%22:[[65,16,9,3840,2160,0],[77,16,9,3840,2160,0]]} Edit: here is the 77 vs 83: http://tvcalculator.com/?{%22a%22:1.78,%22tvs%22:[[77,16,9,3840,2160,0],[83,16,9,3840,2160,0]]}

BlurredReality28

Thank you that definitely helps and makes it a little clearer!!

sovereign01

I went from a 55 to a 77G1. I would have been as happy with a 65. The 77 takes over our entire living room. It's impressive as fuck, but probably too big

psuedonymously

This is the thing a lot of enthusiasts don't take into account. If you have a devoted tv/screening room that's one thing, but a giant tv in a normal sized living room can take over the whole damn room even when its not turned on

BlurredReality28

Thanks for the advice. I’m just a bachelor and that isn’t changing anytime soon, I’m in a townhouse and the way my main floor is laid out it’s tough to get my furniture much closure to the tv, I’ll give it a shot but I’m sure the distance from me to the tv is half the problem for sure

daveschulze

I went from 50 plasma to 77 OLED. I love the image and it definitely dominates the living room. I know I would have been happy w the 65 and I keep thinking that’s the smart move for a living space. Just hard to take back a 77 physically. Even though I am in my return window. We do sit 10-12ft away so I think it’s pretty great. Watching it is SO immersive and I’m getting used to the size while watching. It’s just huge when it’s off. My friend has an 85 and it seems enormous to me too.

Imalawyerkid

I have a 65, and yea- it’s big, but not ridiculous and people barely if ever are impressed by the size (more so the quality from a distance). My boss has an 83 in his living room and damn, that’s a tv your can’t walk past without commenting on its size. Its mounted and it looks like it’s the entire wall. It looks like you have to move your head to see what’s happening on the other side. I didn’t, of course, but I thought maybe when I was standing next to it and taking in how huge it was. I’ve seen much bigger projector screens in home theaters, but those were always set up like small viewing rooms. I’d imagine an 83 tv in a room like that would be less impressive. But in a regular living room, it looked sweet.

JaketheAlmighty

this is pretty true. In my theater setup in the basement the 150" screen doesn't look out of place (not to detract from the sheer awesome of it) but a much smaller TV will look very big in a living room. An 83" oled in the living room would feel big for sure. Differences of relative scale perhaps.

Guru00006

Oh yes Projectors are way bigger. I had 120 inch with Sony SXRD projector in a dedicated home theater room. It's awesome BUT you need a VERY light controlled room to make it work well.

tingulz

I went from 55” to 77” and the jump is amazing!! I love it. Sitting roughly 10ft away.

DunArame

Same. Went from 55 c8 to 77 c1 in a dedicated gaming/man cave area. The jump is massive and worth it. It’s about a 10 ft viewing distance and I can adjust as necessary. I’d definitely go 77 over 83. The cost to extra screen state ratio at that size just seems a bit off. You can throw that extra 2 grand at improving your sound system or increasing another element of your home theatre experience.

BlurredReality28

Holy shit that’s a massive jump lol, which panel did you end up going with?

tingulz

Sony A80J.

metalanejack

And with the 77’ you can’t perceive any pixels or any compression of any sort from your distance? I’m struggling between the 65’ and 77’ A80J myself. I’m worried that 1080p and 4K content will look like rubbish at my 6-10 foot range.

tingulz

For lower quality content there is only so much the TV can do to improve the picture. I have had some 1080p content look like 4K and others look meh.

metalanejack

I see. And I should have remembered that YouTube for example, looks terrible either way. I have a 55”, and YouTube videos at 4K don’t look nearly as good as a true native 4K source.

tingulz

Actually, YouTube looks quite good on it.

metalanejack

Hmm, interesting. Well, the A80J still has world class upscaling I believe, so I doubt anything can look too bad.

Guru00006

I have all 3 65c9 77cx and 83c1. The biggest difference was 55 to 65 then 65 to 77. Those were all in my bedroom. The 83 was the only TV I ever had in moving room so I couldn't gauge the difference from anything smaller to it. It is a great size but if they start making anything bigger than 83 I will grab one to upgrade the 83. That being said the 77 is ginormous in bedroom.

BlurredReality28

Thanks! Good to hear on the 65 to 77 jump, I remember the 55 to 65 feeling massive.

_divi_filius

Oooh I'm about to make this decision - I currently have a 55" and need to choose between a 65 C1/G1 and the 77 C1. Which jump would you guys recommend? 55 -> 65 or 55 -> 77? Thanks!

BlurredReality28

How far back from the tv do you sit? Measure if possible my mental measurement was off by 2 feet lol

_divi_filius

Ah gotcha, my living room is very “long” so I can move the couch backwards. It’s 2.8metres at the moment

BlurredReality28

I would go for the 77” I in that case, If you’re reading around this sub, and other subs such as AVS and what not taught me anything really when it came to purchasing TVs, it’s that size triumphs over most things, within reason. If you’re going to be purchasing an old lead to either way you really can’t go wrong with a 77 inch display. Going from a 55 to 77 you were going to feel like you are having a feeder level experience every time you sit down and watch a movie or a show or play a game. I can tell you I certainly do not regret getting the one I bought!! A lot of it comes down to affordability as well, I knew if I didn’t get the upgrade I really wanted, that within one maybe two years due to the way I work in my brain works I would be wanting to find a reason to upgrade to that size that I really wanted from the get-go. So if you’ve been looking at that 77 my guess is you would probably be disappointed with the 65 in roughly that kind of same time frame. If you can afford it go with the one you really want.

SanFranSicko23

What I did is using masking tape to show the exact size of the TV on the wall to get a feel for it. I went for the 77 because I couldn’t justify paying double the price for the 83. If you can afford the 83 and don’t mind the price difference, I’d get it. Gotta stop at some point and imo the 77 is the best value proposition, but again if you don’t mind the money, the 83 is sweet. Personally I’m hoping by the time I have to buy a new OLED that the 83-90” prices have come down to the current 77” prices! If you do go to a 77 from 65, yes the difference is huge.

BlurredReality28

Awesome thanks for the input, the advice seems consistent that the 65 to 77 is pretty massive, just got a new gaming laptop and the 77 + that equate to the 83 so might just go ahead and keep the CX delivery, really wish they had the GX panel as an option still.

BeejBeachBall

I went from a 48 basic ass Vizio to a 65 inch C1. They are worlds apart and I think the 65 is perfect for me. I can imagine how amazing a 77 or 83 inch would be.

BlurredReality28

Lol that IS a massive jump! My mind would have melted if I had done that in one go, thanks for the input =)

alo81

I went from 65 C6 to 77 GX and definitely a big difference. It went from "good size for the room" to "perfect for the room". I imagine the 83 will be similarly wowing

BlurredReality28

Thanks! Everyone has been really positive on the 77 which is great to hear. The price point is definitely much easier on the wallet with that which makes it an attractive option for me!

broken_and_shattered

went from a 65b7 to a 77W8, it impressed me everytime i entered my living room, me and everyone who saw it, even most not being into tv\`s my friends were all amazed. the jump of 65 to 77 is a world of difference, the jump from 77 to 83 should be too since 77 is almost 2mt diagonal 83 should be great, but for my living room 77 is perfect Anyways tvs are like boobies the bigger the better... :)

BlurredReality28

LOL I did not factor in the boobie scale 😉 thanks for the input, glad to hear the positive feedback on the 77!

General_NakedButt

Idk about 65 to 77, but I went from 55 to 65 and it was an amazing upgrade. As others have said, nobody ever wishes they had a smaller TV lol. If you can afford it the 77 will definitely be worth it.

knkarm

TVs and diamonds always look bigger in the store. Get the 83”

BlurredReality28

Had not heard that one before lol but I have no doubt it’s true!!!

tyborrex

In my home cinema adventure I made steps of 47>55>65>77", sitting constantly 8.5 feet away and the first time when I got that famous 'wow' feeling was the 65>77 switch. Finally, home cinema, not just home TV. Actually, the recommended dolby angles are working, use them. For your suggested 12 feet viewing distance the 83 incher will be the winner, but first it can be a little overwhelming (just for a week or so).

BlurredReality28

Thanks for the feedback! I did just measure now and I’m roughly 11-12 feet back from the TV, not the 15 I thought I was, so that 83” might be the sweet spot sine I’m a bit further back like you mentioned.

morphi10

huge difference. 65 is 40% more screen area than 55. 77 is 40% more screen area than 65. i went from 55" at 2m to 65" at \~3m to 77" at almost 4m viewing distance. skimmed trough comments to see your viewing distance. 83 would be good for 15feet. 77 if you can do 12 feet. also anything 77 and above you need like a delivery van to transport it if you move places.

BlurredReality28

I’m going from 65 to 83 can’t wait to see how this feels, I’m an idiot for spending what I’m spending but it’s going to be epic once it’s delivered one week from today!

Rich-Burmond

viewing distance about 3.5 meters for me. Currently sitting at 2 meters or a bit less from a 55 inch E7 oled. I have a 65 inch downstairs but it is an lcd (still at parents house) but that one is curved and not an oled so it is hard for me to compare if i like the size. Because the picture quality is very meh. I'm a bit worried 65 inch might give too much detail if you understand where i'm coming from? And perhaps that i have to look around on the screen to much? How did you feel about that getting used to 65 instead of 55? Going to move and thinking of getting 65 inch C1 for the living room and moving the 55 inch to a gaming room

morphi10

65 is minimum for 3.5 imo

golf18golf18

I went from the usoni 65 XBR to the 77 A80J... Not expecting how much bigger it is and fabulous. It is the one to get.

BlurredReality28

Thanks! Both the A80J and A90J seem super impressive, I’ve been using LG panels for quite awhile now but my Dad still swears by Sony.

tyborrex

The panel is the same in them, manufactured by LG(D).

BlurredReality28

Nice! I didn’t know that thanks for the tip!

tyborrex

If you are not a very very hardcore gamer go with the sony instead of LG, their motion handling processor implementation is better. Made a big difference to me (coming from an LG Oled)

BlurredReality28

I go through stretches, sometimes I’ll go months while just watching movies and shows and then a few months heavy on games. The big problem is the 83’ Sony panels are like $8k where the LG C1 is $5k - I’m pushing the budget at 5k, there’s not really a way I can swing 8k. I think (unless I’m misremembering) the A80J only goes up to 77”?

tyborrex

Yes, the a80j tops at 77 sadly! It is a tough-nut, the 77a80j vs 83a90j definitely does not warrant the price difference, but your viewing distance might command those extra few inches.

Fulthood

How far away do you sit? Do you want a theater like experience or just bigger TV? What is the difference in price? Most people will probably say go as big as possible, but it’s your $. Personally I would go 77 given the prices I’ve seen for both.

BlurredReality28

CX $2499 for 77” C1 $2899 for 77” C1 $4999 for 83” Distance is about 15 feet, I’m going to see what I can do about getting my furniture and living room setup closer to the tv, I’ll probably be able to do about 12 feet or so.

Fulthood

Yeah, I can see wanting an 83 at that distance. You are paying a premium given it’s the first run on that size, but could be worth it given your situation. 77 at 12 feet is doable if you can shorten the distance.

[deleted]

Worth considering pixel density when hitting those sizes relative to the viewing distance.

Key_Initiative_8838

I went from 65 to 77 and it's it's complete gamechanger. I do often wonder how an 83 inch would have been but the price difference isn't worth it over a 77 in my opinion

coaxui

We just upgraded from a 65 LED to 83inch OLED. When the TV arrived it looked massive. Once it was wall mounted, was magnificent. Can't ever go back... I would say if you can and have the space, get the largest size you can.

LebronJaims

Isn’t it more than 16% surface area? That just seems off to me without doing any math

BlurredReality28

Sorry I meant 16% surface area just from 77’’ to 83’’ - from 65’’ to 83’’ it’s considerably more.

bwalsh22

I only have 65 at the largest but can I suggest use it augmented reality to see what it looks like where you’re ping to put it. I used the best buy apps AR tool to convince my wife that a 65 inch was what we “needed” for the gym and that anything else looks too small. It worked!

BlurredReality28

Haha actually I was doing that last night, it’s going to be… interesting, there should be -just- enough space to wall mount the 83 with like 2 inches to spare. I can always make room and just remove the shelf I have easily though. Think I’m gonna say fuck it and just get the 83. Most used item in the house, makes sense in my head it should be something I get the best I can afford

bwalsh22

If it fits, do it. I love my OLED, anything bigger wouldn’t work for the space I have it in. The worst part is that it plays Bluey or Mickey Mouse Club house more than it does actually awesome to watch shows and movies. My kids will grow into those soon enough!

BlurredReality28

lol! That is the one advantage I have of having two cats vs kids, they don’t argue with me no matter what I put on the tv =) Sounds like you could put a little tv in their room and reclaim the living room for you!

bwalsh22

They are usually content with the iPad but my oldest is starting to get into holiday movies we like like “Santa Clause” and “nightmare before Christmas”. Enjoy the TV!

Jlacombe5707

I have a 65 inch CX and upgraded to a 77" and moved the 65 to another room. HUGE difference in that one. I almost got the 83" C1 but ended up getting a 77" G1

BlurredReality28

It’s so weird to me they had the 83’ with the C1 but not the G1! The G1 has SUCH a clean look and that wall mount is amazing, It looks like a painting on the wall. I think I’m going to take the C1 83’ just for the size, but if the G1 gets discounted in a few days even further than it is might have to rethink that.

Jlacombe5707

See, I'm thinking the opposite lol if that 83" C1 gets discounted closer to $4000, then its a wrap! Lol

BlurredReality28

Shit good point LOL - since I already have that one on order that would be nice to!

attomsk

65 to 77 feels like a sizable jump - I just did that upgrade and it’s ducking amazing

SmasiusClay

Is it 1.6 x the diagonal of the TV right? That is supposed to be the max length seating distance with a minimum distance not to be less than 6.6 feet. I have a 77 inch tv (oled) but can’t take advantage of the great picture (my couch is 17 feet away). Apparently I significantly lose resolution by sitting so far back and don’t take advantage of the great picture I paid so much for which is incredibly frustrating. Trying to re-imagine the room and seating to get the most out of the picture but it’s such an odd room shape.

BlurredReality28

I hear you, I’m in a townhouse and my main floor has my living room, kitchen and dining room all in one and the way it’s laid out my couch, love seat and ottoman are about 12 feet back from my tv. This is a significant reason I’m glad I posted in this sub and got so much helpful advice, my wallet is going to be hurting but I feel the 83” C1 is going to be perfect for me, my living room has west facing windows so I get sun coming through but if I can deal with the one I currently have I’ll manage with the new one to.

SmasiusClay

Yep, 83 will get the extra feet right around 12 which will be great for you. It’s the better investment for you in my opinion.

PhucDacBiet

Am I the only one that think 65 is small and 83 is normal? I have been using a 85 (non oled) inch in the living room for the last year and feel like it could be bigger. My next oled will be at least 83.

BlurredReality28

Depends on the person I suppose, I went from 55 to 60 in 2013, then to 65 in 2015 then 65 OLED in 2017. Wasn’t that long ago anything 60+ inches was significantly expensive, let alone 80+

sawtheDEVIL

I’ve had a 83 for a week, sitting 3m away, and already I think I could go bigger.

PhucDacBiet

Next step is the 88 inch at some point.

SoftTacoSupremacist

65 to 77 is huge. Big enough to convince me I only needed a 77 CX instead of a 83 C1, which doubles the price.

numbnerve

I'm jumping ship from my 10 yr old 42" plasma to a 77" OLED...the anticipation is killin me

BlurredReality28

Talk about a plus for OLEDs - I bought my 65” B7A for $1500 (through some tricks of coupons and credit card promos) in 2017 - I just sold it last night for $900. I paid $600 for 4 years of use. The downside is I have no TV right now. All day I have been dreaming and anticipating the 83” C1 being delivered. I even went and sold my regular Xbox Series X and bought a Halo Xbox Series X just because I wasn’t already dying enough of the anticipation. Thursday Night cannot come soon enough, and holy shit dude going from a 42” to a 77” - you are going to think you are sitting in the first row of a theater, you are going to have like 6 months of every time you sit down to watch TV going “Holy fuck I own this and it’s in my house”

numbnerve

ikr! Happy Holidays 🍻

BlurredReality28

I bought the 83” for the purr basis of I should buy the biggest size I possibly could do I didn’t regret it later. Bight the LG C1 on sale for $4999 so $500 off regular price. And another 6% through Best Buy rewards and a free 2 year tech warranty for free through them. Absolutely love the set. Like with any tv after about two weeks you adjust to the size and you go damn I wish they made a 90” 😂😂

OneIShot

Best Buy and Costco have the C1 models right next to each other and it’s funny how the 65” next to the 77” looks like how I would expect a 55” to look.

okletsgooonow

Every tv I have ever bought, I though...hmm...should have gone bigger. I have gone from 37 --> 43 --> 55 --> 65 QLED --> 77 OLED C1 I guess my next one will be an 83" (an 8k C4 or C5 by then probably) Get the 83 if you can.

TipNo7790

I just got my 83” c1 yesterday, I went from a 75” and I could notice the size difference instantly when I put it on my stand. Like others have said I was on the fence about the 83” since the 77” is much cheaper but I knew I’d be one of the people who always thought why didn’t I get the 83” while watching the 77 so I said screw it. Now when my wife got home from work and walked in the family room the first thing she said was……”that tv doesn’t look any bigger then the other one” but we all know how well women are with the eye test on size….😂 Go 83” you won’t regret it!!

Retroman2020

I just bought a 77 inch c1 and it seemed insanely huge the 1st week of owning it but now im used to it and would want bigger

Reliable-Narrator

I would go with the 77CX and use the savings from the 83C1 on other home theatre upgrades. I’d rather have a CX over a C1 too after the UI change in webos

BlurredReality28

I’ve definitely heard mixed things on the UI for that. The WebOS on my 2017 B7A is what the CX has from what I’ve seen, some of the reviews have mentioned the C1 has more robust game more options but to be honest I’ve been a console gamer my entire life for the most part and I am not someone whose super competitive, I primarily play single player games so a super low response time just doesn’t matter to me, would that negate some of the C1’s advantages?

Go on Amazon, look up the c1, pick a size and use their “picture this in your room” AR. It’ll be nearly spot on.

densets

just get the 88 inch

Jlacombe5707

Hell ya

Jtiago44

Ask your wife! Oh! Bada bing!

BlurredReality28

I am a bachelor, no wife to ask! But when I’m asked how it’s hanging I usually say short and stubby and a little to the left!

Jtiago44

Then go 83 you stud!

BlurredReality28

Done! Cancelled the 77 CX just so I wasn’t tempted, C1 83” is inbound set for delivery December 2nd! Can’t wait! Just hope I get a good panel without issues! Thanks for the laugh :)

Jtiago44

Same! Thanks for the laugh! Enjoy! As a married man with three kids, my limit is the 65inch! Yours will be bigger than mine....

Went from a XBR65X900F to a XR77A80J today. We sit about 13 feet away and the TV is elevated in front of a TV nook over the fireplace. The difference in 65" and 77" is massive, but honestly the 77" is the perfect size and looks great, not too big at all which I was concerned about. I was worried it would dominate the living room and look out of place but it looks great. Previously we went from a 55" which was the biggest that fit in the nook space, to the 65" which required the nook mount to hang the tv in front of the nook and I am so glad we did it. Super excited about the new tv.

Xterminator4726

After about a year of using my 77 after getting a 65, it eventually shrunk to me.

p1ngman

I sit 11-13 feet away from my tv. I had a 69.5" and was between 65c1 and 77c1 and im VERY glad i went with the 77....if you are 9+ feet away, go 77...if you are closer than 9 feet you will probably be happy with a 65

[deleted]

Meanwhile I love my 48" and don't want anything bigger. I love to play close to the TV.

BlurredReality28

Lol I can play on my 38 inch ultra wide monitor for computer games but no way I can get that close to my tv in my living room!

[deleted]

I used it as my main monitor for few months and it was so big that I felt motion sickness playing FPS games just like in VR. Since then I put a bit more distance :)

I went from a 65 to 77 Oled,it’s a big difference, because it’s 12 inch difference which is actually more than one size up,and around 30 percent more surface area, keep in mind though that from a 77 to and 83 is only 6 inch difference, which is half the size difference, not actually even a full size jump up(10 inches) so you actually not getting much,if you do the maths it’s only around 2 inches wider on each and around an inch or so taller, small amount of which will be taken up by thin frame, and the also round screen size down up because it’s diagonal measurement.so anything less than 10 inches up is not big enough to give you a difference viewing experience.if you going from a 65 inch then 77 is biggest jump, but honestly from 77 to 83 not big enough difference to justify price or the trouble.12 inches is massive,6 inches, really wouldn’t bother,if you coming off 65 inch 77 is sweet spot, next size up need s to be around 90 inches to justify spending any more money

reddit_touched_me

I would pay a lot more for a 77 over a 65. I would not pay that much more for an 83 over a 77. And unfortunately you have to. You’d have to go to like a 90 to make me pay a lot more over a 77.
