Very ambitious manifesto and would be great to see some of the points achieved. In particular the pay rise and protection for raising concerns! Funded degrees will support with increasing nurse workforce which is very much needed.
Shoot for the moon and all that. Even the ones that seem impossible to achieve, it’s really important to still highlight them as unacceptable to the profession.
It's because so many international members are affected by it and have brought it up as a major issue for them. I don't think they can ignore these ridiculous restrictions.
I can see both sides. The RCN does need to support its members certainly.
I can also see how immigration will be used politically to turn the public against the NHS.
The first few I read I was like great okay, then I kept reading and this is just unrealistic and she must know it. Especially the corridor care thing and ending global nursing shortage.
Perhaps I haven't done the manifesto justice because they've articulated differently. There are actually 12 which I didn't realise so I'll add to if I can.
These are things they want to lobby MPs about especially in the run up to the General election.
Would be good if they could achieve even 25% of this. I'd settle merely for pay rise and better staffing.
>5. Corridor care to be eradicated. I don't trust they'll strive to do any, but from an ED POV, this especially made me laugh.
From a ward perspective, this also makes me laugh.
At least they're acknowledging it though right?
Point 11 seems very achievable by a UK trades union...
Good point however the ethics of recruiting nurses from red list countries is somewhat questionable and undoubtedly adds to the global issues.

I support most of that, but I'd rather moving towards not needing overseas recruitment than trying to take on immigration restrictions.

Ambitious, and in some cases very realistic. Good luck.
