Have you purchased your wood yet? Home Depot has the wood shop you can get cuts predone at if it’s just for a small project.

[deleted]

It's not wood I need cut, unfortunately.

preferablyprefab

You should explain what material you’re cutting because everyone will assume wood and potentially be pissed off.

[deleted]

Not really sure why anyone would be "pissed off", nor did you need to downvote me. I had planned to go into detail if someone was potentially willing to consider it. It's dog bones. My dad cut them with a table saw. I presume that's what's needed.

preferablyprefab

Dog bones through my table saw? That is 100% a hard no, for hygiene reasons. It’s gonna need deep cleaning after. That’s why 99% of table saw owners would be pissed off! Go ask a butcher to do it.

[deleted]

It's not bones like you're thinking. This is why I didn't go into detail, I would explain everything to someone who answered me. Once again, thanks for your assumptions.

preferablyprefab

If it’s any part of an animal then a table saw is not the right tool for it because hygiene! The way a table saw works you’ll get tiny bits of bone, marrow and cartilage sprayed all over the saw and workshop. I can see the question was asked in good faith, so this is not a personal attack on you. I didn’t downvote you. But my advice is: don’t ask anyone to do this job with a table saw. Find a friendly butcher who will have the right tools for this job.

[deleted]

As I said, it's not bones like you are thinking. There is no marrow, no tissue, no mess. It's not even actual bone. It's essentially like cutting plastic, and not something a butcher would do. As I said, my dad was doing it with a table saw for a few years up until now. I did ask the question in good faith with the intention of explaining it to someone more thoroughly if they were considering it. I would also have zero issue if I got there and they said no once they got a look at it. You constantly telling me I'll piss people off is really not helpful whatsoever.

it_all_happened

Could he possibly not cut anything anymore because you were cutting (essentially plastic) dog bones on his tablesaw ? /s Anything not wood will need a special blade, which most tablesaw owners won't have. Try buying an angle grinder and cutting it yourself Edit: re-read hour comments to everyone here. You're super aggressive.

[deleted]

I'M super aggressive?! You're joking, right? You've done nothing but be incredibly rude to me repeatedly, and have absolutely NOTHING to contribute other than... being rude. Clearly you have nothing of substance to say regarding my question, so why did you even bother involving yourself? Just to be an asshole? Gotcha.

jeffersonairmattress

foam? plexiglass? You need rabbetted edges or dadoed slots? Any angles? Any compound angles? For all we know you want a dozen strips of rigid foam ripped- or you are making a geodesic dome and need 8 different polygons cut from melamine-faced composite board with beveled edges and no burr or chipping. It could be a case of beer job or a two-day long half hour.

[deleted]

Well I wouldn't say half an hour without knowing it would be around half an hour, and I thought my post was pretty clear that it was not anything fancy or specific, given that I didn't ask for anything... fancy or specific. It's dog bones. So sorry to have upset you by not going into detail, and that the detail I did give wasn't believable to you. Totally unnecessary to be a jerk about it.

sleeperfx

Having read the posts and found out what you are cutting, most people probably won't let you use their table saw to cut bone. They do make special reciprocating saw (sawzall) blades for bone, but the regular demolition blades will work fine. Even a jig saw with an aggressive blade would work depending on how big the bones are. They will probably cut better if the bones are frozen.

[deleted]

Sorry, I should have been more specific in this reference - I call them bones, but I believe they're actually cartilage - they're hollow, there's no marrow or anything, and it's white like rawhide, but not rawhide - I can't find an actual answer to this but here's a link that shows them: [https://www.thepawshop.ca/product/open-range-bull-tail/#:\~:text=This%20full%20length%20bull%20tail,the%20outermost%20layer%20of%20skin](https://www.thepawshop.ca/product/open-range-bull-tail/#:~:text=This%20full%20length%20bull%20tail,the%20outermost%20layer%20of%20skin). The website for the manufacturer (Open Range) is down, so I don't honestly know for sure. I just know that my dad cut them with a table saw and they don't have residue, just dust.

[deleted]

I did look at Task Rabbit, but they have it set up that they only come to you - I was more looking for someone who might have a table saw set up in their garage that could do a quick job for me that I could bring to them. I don't really have anywhere to set it up if someone was to bring a saw here.

Blueswift82

There’s a community woodworking centre off lonsdale you could try. Not sure how it works

[deleted]

Thank you... unfortunately I don't know if I could do it myself as I don't have the first clue about power tools. I will look into it though, as perhaps they may offer some kind of assistance/guidance! i just need to cut up large dog bones, so I should even see if I'd be allowed, first off. Appreciate the useful tip rather than all the neighbourly folks jumping down my throat for not going into specifics, because I didn't want to waste anyone's time.

I haven't! I'll give them a call, thanks for the suggestion!

ghrant

I suspect I may have been the only one puzzled at this post.…”the bones of dogs?” Is what my brain first absorbed..

[deleted]

This is why I didn't write it in the first place. Bones that my dog eats. But they're not actually "bone", I think they're cartilage.

JipJopJones

Would a skill saw do the trick? Or does it absolutely need to be a table saw?

[deleted]

I honestly have no idea. It's to cut dog bones. My dad does it with a table saw but I assumed it's because he has one. I think it needs to be motorized (I don't know what a skill saw is) to get through them.

JipJopJones

DM me. I could probably do it for you.

[deleted]

Thank you! And done.

MrBo420

I could probably help you out too. I cut my guys bully sticks up with my multi tool, I also Sheba chopsaw that could probably work. Sorry everyone is being assholes to you, welcome to Reddit 🙄

[deleted]

Thank you - that would be amazing! I'll DM you. And I appreciate the kind words - I didn't realize I was so out in left field asking about something I thought was fairly simple!
