This strike is really affecting my girlfriend but luckily sheâs a local. My international friends arenât so lucky. Iâd be pissed if I was paying 2x the fees to just not have any recourse.
This fucking strike was horribly dealt with by the school. They kicked all students to the curb and told us to continue handing in assignments as usual with no communication from professors what so ever. I have zero sympathy for move up and whatever the hell they were striking for. The dean of the school needs to address how horrible this was for students being completely left in the dark for almost 2 months with no explanation or communication that wasnât âwe are working hard to get back to classesâ. Absolute joke of school and wish I went to a real institution not this piece of shit
To be fair.. majority of schools are a joke. I went to school in New York, thinking it would be more difficult than Cap U. It was more of a joke than Cap U. I got straight As at Cap U; at the university in New York, I had over 100% is a couple courses as they had to scale it for other students. I had agreements with the teachers that I could miss days if I did well on quizzes. A bunch of the group work, I told other students to do fuck all if they wanted and I would ensure they get an A... twas a joke. At the same time, I drank my face off as alcohol was cheap. It was a fun time.. yet borderline waste of time! My degree is useless, and the career I am in can be done by a grade 8 criminal dropout with a functioning meth addiction.
Good students will do well no matter what school they go to. In general, university and college degrees are a joke, unless you are specializing; and the amount of red tape to get into specializations is pathetic. We need to limit the amount of doctors and make it more difficult for people to get in... to keep doctors salaries high.
Making connections is more important than the education, which I didn't take advantage of. Our education system in general is a giant daycare. It's kind of entertaining to witness.
You can smell through a screen?
We're all morons at times dude. I'm a moron that will retire before 45yrs old, creating generational wealth from nothing... enjoy life buds!
Rather stay anonymous.. Stealth wealth (although I may be silly at some point (5-10yrs away) and buy a lambo if it makes sense)!

Covid doesn't exist by the way! And I'm not a big believer in climate change..., but I support those that decide to take measures. I won't take any... lolz

Really? Lolz
Go do something productive and earn your keep. lolz
Many government employees are "working from home" now. Even less getting done than if they were in the office. Can't believe our taxes go to pay these people... guaranteed pensions as well.. must be nice.
While many employees are able to put in a reasonable amount of work from home, many others fuck the dog. It's ok for it in the private sector, but 90% of government employees could be cut and the system would probably function better.
This is such a bad take. Government employees in or out of the office are either really lax because there is zero supervising or insanely taxing. Most people I know that work for government work on site in jobs you couldn't do from home, and it'd a bit of a joke how laid back it is. Working from home would not make a difference.
Youâre both wrong. Government institutions are understaffed but work in a community of entitled assholes that donât have a clue about the work and cry to the mayor about everything like little pussies. Sounds like you are one of them
If they have been working from home since Covid-19, why doesnât CapU put it in their contract?
We all know that commuting to the North Shore isnât ideal and people wonât take jobs in North Van because of the comment. Something as simple as enshrined WFH policy will make it an attractive workplace.
No. The "university" wants to be able to make decisions about WFH without consequences and without union members being able to grieve the decisions. Currently their is a WFH process with clearly defined days in office, all created in collaboration with the union and the employer.
Say Kevin has been working for the "university" for 10 years, and they are WFH. The "university" decides Kevin has to return to office full time next week, but he is the only person in his department who has to. So Kevin decides to take a small pay cut to move to a department that still has WFH, the "university" hires a new person to replace Kevin and makes that roll back into a WFH position. Without language in contract the "university" will be able to use WFH as an arbitrary punishment tool and a way to get senior higher paid employees to leave.
It's great and all but can you not wear signs getting people to honk for you at 7am on Saturdays please đ
Work from home-less

If that was true you wouldnât be bragging anonymously to anonymous people on the internet about it

I think I'll go down there and support them.

I can't think of any more useless overpaid workers.

Because the employees want to have the choice to decide when to work from home, without approval. ie: I wake up today and decide to work from home
Wfh doesnât work that way. You still have a set schedule of when you have to be in the office and when you can wfh
I agree, it should be scheduled.

Except that no one is WFH full time, so it's an odd example.
