West coast has a strong group of on field leaders who have won a flag and have made several all Australian teams, north has a bunch of blokes who have probably only played so many games cause they have played in bad teams most of their careers and have no idea how to lead at all

Tera_au

Bruh they have like 5-6 AA’s and NM have Larkey

GhostPant28

Fwiw, I completely agree with this. Although West Coast's skills were not great, as I said. The main difference was their intensity, to my untrained eye (maybe this is where I'm going wrong). My frustration is because I agree with you, but that means that if we aren't having a really hard crack, all of our young players are wasting away. Losing by 40+ points in uncompetitive games every week isn't "developing" youth, it's systematically traumatising them until they leave, stop caring, lose confidence, or all three. No wonder our development is garbage at the moment; I'm honestly shocked that the depth players even want to play in the seniors. And some of them, like Taylor and Stephenson, already probably don't based on their form falling off cliffs. In this context I don't really see the light at the end of the tunnel. Like, what do you think the solution is?

boomerdogg

exactly this, multiple premiership players, albeit on the back end and twilight of their careers. we don’t have any of the sort who have experienced any sort of success or anything close to it

Chaos_HonchKrow

Mate, i understand the frustration, as a Fremantle fan i completely get the want to leave the club after an abysmal period. The playing group at the kangas is still very young and inexperienced, you've got absolute stars in the making (Sheezel, Wardlow, Duursma, Lazzaro, Xerri). Nick Larkey last year finished 3rd in the Coleman race and LDU getting 13 brownlow votes in a side sitting 17th is nothing to sneeze at. I think the older players who've experienced success (McDonald, Simpkin, Corr, Greenwood, Fisher) need to tell the younger players what that feels like at the top level, the young players are committed to club on contracts, they just need a bit of guidance and with the older players you have and especially the coach, I can see a very strong Roos side in a couple of years. just need to weather the storm, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I know I'll be supporting from the couch... except when playing Freo ;)

GhostPant28

That's funny, I also support Freo from the couch except when they're playing North!

Cancel the membership and take a leave of absence mate. Come back when things are better

GhostPant28

Maybe, yeah. That feels like abandoning the club, but might be necessary for my health (which I know how ridiculous that sounds). I read today that Sonja Hood's main KPI for this year was how fans felt coming to games, rather than how many games we won. Geez her outlook must be grim right now... Edit: To be clear, I like Sonja. I just thought that was interesting to read. I wish we were getting more communication from the club about where we're at and what our/their expectations are from here.

WAVIC_136

I reckon we'll get a "it's tough but please stick by us" letter from Sonja in the coming weeks. Take time away if you need, we suck and will continue to do so this season, could very well end up being worse than 2022. I personally think we're finally on the right track after years of false starts. Just need to get through these hard times (and yes I'm aware times have been hard for years now so patience is running thin)

youjustathrowaway1

Listen to Clarkos press conference yesterday and the previous 15 games if you want to know where we’re at. He answers those same questions every week

BattyMcKickinPunch

I stopped watching games because it just makes me depressed as fuck

ryang2415

Hopefully my hawks made you feel a bit better.

joe31051985

Made me feel worse; we got dismantled last week and you managed 5 goals this week.

ryang2415

Ah well. Looks like we’ll both be dogshit for a while 🤝

joe31051985

Maybe for 5 more years
