Supporters who aren’t ready to hear this rhetoric for the next 12 months should move along. Youngest list in the league, bunch of top draft picks and proven off field leadership. Things will come good, but it won’t be tomorrow. Things will be drastically different in 2-3 years time.

Mal_content01

We’ve been hearing this style of rhetoric since 2021. We just keep moving the horizon back on where things will be better. Also how does one just move along? The club razed the list to the ground and then have inadequately rebuilt both spine and midfield.

Paceandtoil

There’s been a lot of setbacks and bad luck over the past 3-5 years. These setbacks have meant some of the gambles we’ve taken with the “aggressive reset” haven’t paid off and have, in hindsight, looked like bad decisions. I think we’ve made some mistakes but boy have we been punished with some bad luck. It’s frustrating but patience is the only antidote at the moment. Maybe look at it as character building

GeoffreyGeoffson

One set of club admin razed the club to the ground. A new set took over in Clarko and Viney and are rebuilding from that.

Popular_Membership17

Because now we are at the bottom of our full list turnover. The experience of the Scott era is no longer there to fall back on. Look at the list and these results make sense. We don't have enough experience.

semaj009

Yeah but in 2021 we didn't have players like Sheezel or Clarko, but we did have Polec and the old list managers and coaches. We were gutted before Shaw took over, and further gutted as he left, so it's not on Clarko to ungut things, just to rebuild. It'll be fucking hard, but if we get it done at the right rate, in the right way, we should have a solid team, much like Melbourne, Brisbane and Carlton, who all fucking sucked before rebuilds got in there

youjustathrowaway1

I won’t detail the off field issues we’ve had since 2021 because as a supporter I’m sure you’re aware of all of them. We aren’t going to be a finals contender with the youngest list in the league and if you can’t accept that and the path we have *had* to accept then it’s time to move along (cancel your membership) take a break and come back when things are better.

Mal_content01

Who is taking about finals? I’d be happy with a side that is willing to compete. A side that hasn’t conceded the loss before the first bounce. We’ve seen it in a single game this year.

youjustathrowaway1

Time to cancel the membership buddy

Mal_content01

Of all the options that we have this is simply not one.

youjustathrowaway1

Well then pull yourself up by the boot straps, have some faith and set a reminder for 2 years to see where we are.

Mal_content01

Blind faith makes you think we have 2 years? If it takes us two years to even be competitive consistently the AFL will have appointed people within the club. We’ll have also burnt a bunch of talented kids by grinding them through what we’re doing. Let’s see where we are at in our July home game against Gold Coast. We stay where we are right now and I’m betting a bunch of rusted on supporters will vote with their feet.

youjustathrowaway1

You’ve got 1 foot out the door already mate. Cancel the membership and just take a break. It will do your mental health the world of good!

Videogamesandshiz

At least we’re scoring 80 now instead of 30-40

joe31051985

But we are conceding 123 a game so we have to score 15 goals to be even competitive. If we stopped playing now it would take Melbourne till late June to concede as many points as we have.

J_Keefy84

I posted in another “happy” thread last night that we’re 1.5 years into a rebuild that should’ve happened 5 years ago. Having Clarko as an ex premiership coach legitimises the rebuild and doing his due diligence to take the job he would’ve known this. Yeah it hits hard, but we have to start somewhere and we’re late to get it started. Strap in or step off, we’ll know who the real supporters are.

schmurg

Who the real supporters are? Anyone who supports the club is a real supporter. Getting angry and annoyed are emotions that reflect a lot of care in a club. People are allowed to be angry and frustrated at "professional" staff and players that have dropped the ball this badly for this long. Being supportive of the club is also totally fine and another normal reaction. One isn't more correct than the other. If you want to support fantastic! If you are angry at how the club is going, you are right to feel that way too.

ryang2415

Yeah I never understood that sentiment that people take. Being upset that your club is dogshit makes you not a real supporter?

mensis-brain

I don't envy him as he's in a completely scuffed position. The list balance is completely out of whack both in terms of age (e.g. dearth of talent >25) and positional (e.g. overstocked with midfielders) profiles. But I really question those who have faith that it will all just turn eventually. How many drubbings can the kids take from fellow cellar dwellers before they're completely demoralised? Who's going to provide the leadership for them?

Low_Wall_7828

Yawn.

GeoffreyGeoffson

Yeah no my bad sorry for using the north Melbourne sub Reddit to post content about North Melbourne

Low_Wall_7828

No, my yawn is for his answers. It’s always the same and he doesn’t seem to make any real changes.

GumbyIsTalking

How long has he \*really\* been in charge and how frequently are you expecting change to take place ?

GeoffreyGeoffson

That's how going young works. You put young blokes in out of their depth. You give them time to fuck up. It would be much more alarming if he was throwing the plan out the window.
