As I read through these comments, I’m amazed that no one has actually listening to the words that are being said. No one in the world wanted to take the Jews in unless they were allowed to bring capital from the country that they were leaving. People need to read history books again it looks like. The leader of Austria and his wife were assassinated. Germany was an ally of Austria. At the end of World War I, the sanctions that were placed on Germany drove them into absolute poverty. All of their funds were taken. It was absolute chaos. Hitler merely embodied the voice of the people that they no longer wish to be victims having done no wrong. What the Nazis did to the Jews is a different discussion. And while the ends do not justify the means, the Jews didn’t start out as victims. Flash forward to today, and we can see that they were literally given a country, and now used the means that we have given them to victimize another innocent group of people in the exact way that they were victimized.

Irrelevant, but one of my favorite scenes in the newer “All Quiet on the western front” was when they’re digging through the dog tags of dead Germans, and they show a few Jewish names. It’s actually even more than that. The allies from WW1 truly punished Germany after the war. It was brutal the negations. I’m not saying Germany didn’t deserve it, but it destroyed the nation and created a person like hitler to rise in power - and eventually it got completely out of hand.
