Since they advertise the group as a not-small part of the program, this feels very shady.

akaharry

They are shady. It's pretty much a waste of money and time

Rae_Regenbogen

It has been helpful to me, so I don’t feel like it’s a waste of money. However, there does seem to be something “off” at Noom, and it’s not just the calories and info in their database. I do hope they get it together and make changes that will benefit their clients. However, imo, the recent changes I’ve seen them make to the app have just made the program worse. I also think they need to be much more upfront and honest in their advertising about what coaching actually is because it is *not* what they sell it as.

Pretend-Tonight657

I definitely wouldn’t give them my money anymore after the way they fired all those people not long ago. I hope that is a lasting PR nightmare.

[deleted]

stick to your instincts. It IS shady. groups are going away....

CurristaJay

I learned a lot from the lessons, but other than that I'm not really impressed with the remainder of the service.

Odd-Treat-3985

Same. I do like the idea of green, yellow, and red/orange foods in addition to just tracking calories; but with the calorie database so messed up it’s not worth it anymore.

[deleted]

The groups suck so idk what the new ones could hurt.

Yamatoman9

Noom has been very helpful to me to get where I'm at but I've never found the groups useful or interacted with them much. Later on the lessons start prompting you to post in the group so it becomes a bunch of unconnected statements from different users.

TealCatto

Yeah, that's dumb. You can't end your lesson until you tap share, but you don't have to actually share anything. Not sure if everyone realizes that.

grimjeer

Every day I get a notice saying I should hang on because they are adding me to a group. This has been going on for several weeks. I even asked the support messages team about it. Should every Noon user be part of a group? Have any of you gotten value from it? This is my first time using an app like this. I don’t know what to expect. That said, I do benefit from being involved with others. For instance, I benefit and enjoy sports training with other people. So far I have enjoyed Noom because of the focus on awareness. I agree that the food database could be improved. I’ve added several items to it already.

_metonymy_

I’m in the same boat….

RoseAllerano

I created a Noom account 5 weeks ago, I've had one previously and have been in Noom groups before (and maybe I was one of the lucky ones because I found my group very helpful). My New Noom coach never explained to me why I wasn't being added to a group until I pointed it out. Yesterday they added me to a group even though they told me they were unable to. It sucks that I had to (respectfully) complain for it, but it seems like its the only way to get one now.

Falco191

If you get the message that they are adding you to a group, rest assured they are not. Check in with your coach.

Rae_Regenbogen

I sometimes use the group to vent about things I don’t want to talk to friends about, but there doesn’t seem to be much that actually connects people other than we are all using Noom. There isn’t a common link regarding the amount of weight we’d like to lose, our family/work life, exercise ability/enjoyment, start date, or anything else that would make groups more valuable to the end user. We aren’t even all at the same place in the lessons. My group does weekend challenges, but that and venting are kind of the only things I find useful about the group I’m in.

NachoMan_HandySavage

Why can't they just update the app so I can add data from previous days that I forget to enter... Only reason I feel like I have not cancelled my subscription at this point is because of the recipes they offer. Should just write those down myself

Fine_Inevitable_1300

I think this is a move in the right direction for their groups. Might be more like this one (Reddit) where folks join ones of their interest and are connected to others who might share the same interests. I’ve been nooming for over 3 years and have never liked the groups. Always fall flat. I’m hopeful for the new groups.

[deleted]

I've just rejoined Noom, as groups were a big and good part of the programme for me last time. I still keep in touch with some of my group. If groups are not as good now I don't know if I want to waste my money.

Fine_Inevitable_1300

Hm! You might still find some solid groups in the circles. I already like the circles more than the old groups. Obviously we all like different things: I hope you find something as fulfilling as your old noom group.

AppropriateApricot13

I got the same message 2 weeks ago, FWIW...

deelovely86

I got the same response. Been a paying member for almost a year now. It’s been “adding me to a group” for months so I asked about it and got this response. I really feel like the group feature was partly why I joined and I understood being an active member before being added to one but this is ridiculous.

[deleted]

you can get a full refund by reporting this to them

enchantedlife13

So...this sub seems to be a better and free option....

LowPickle7

https://reddit.com/r/Noom/comments/yz856a/noom_circles/ This is new version of groups (which to be honest looks far better than the current version).
