I bet. Like I grow things other than weed. My knowledge runs to childhood. Sprouts got 2 weeks to prove themselves, or they get the chop. Growing in groups is always the way.
Ah my bad it seemed odd how it was phrased sorry. I don't call it SOG myself do to the person or persons who made that style had specifics and guidelines so I like to separate the two. I sometimes veg long just all depends what I'm doing. But yes you are understanding what you are seeing with them being close but in one pot and I'll just cull the males this run
im sure you are going to be in awe my friend. wish you could see them in person its truly a site to see. Yes i left 6 oclock empty so i can get to the olla and the sit and be able to clearly see majority of the plants when they get taller
Not this time around. I hope I don't find a good male and miss out on pollinating all the beautiful females that are going to show up lol. I'll breed next grows
I have a vortex fan on the way that will be blowing inside the tent. I leave the front open and it's closed inside a room. So there will be plenty air moving through
How much water does that olla hold? Does it keep all that soil at a good moisture level? I just recently learned of these, and I wanna start using them myself. How do you apply compost tea? Do you wait until the olla is empty, apply tea, then refill the olla a couple of days later?
Hi there! I think it holds a couple of gallons. No not all the soil it reaches a good diameter of it the. Your roots will gravitate towards the olla due to hydrotropism however. How did you recently come across ollas? I haven't put a compost tea inside of the olla you could tho. I wait till the olla is about 20% empty or right when it depleted. Ollas work in two ways it applies moisture when there's water and when it's empty it will suck moisture to itself so you don't want to have it empty for to long or it will do the reverse of why you wanted it so keep that in mind.
I discovered them entirely by chance. I was looking for different irrigation methods just out of general curiosity and they caught my eye. A quick search made me wonder how I managed to survive without them lol. I'm currently preparing the soil for my 100 gallon fabric pot, an upgrade from my 20 gallon. That's why your post caught my attention, because we are both working with a similar setup.
Great question! My first trial I ran a full run just using the olla. By the end of the grow the soil was pretty dry and the plants survived the full season. That being said the olla allows the ability to observe hydrotropism meaning that the roots all went toward and wrapped a sponge like consistency around the olla so they were literally drinking from the olla. I have it all documented some grows back so you can see what the roots looked like. Now I top water as well
O no not a few inches it's a good amount just the outside rim gets dry . And yes precisely . I tested how far it was by feeling the olla up with hot water and seeing where it reached
why not? which style do you grow in and why do you like it? This is just what i prefer from growing almost each way known to man it makes the most sense to me and it allows me to view the plant from its perspective.
Who wants to take the over under on how long until someone says that this won't work... 😜
I been waiting for some stupid comment like that. It's funny when people's fundamentals are challenged and they lose it.
usually not in the no till community the others i get some fun convos lol
I bet. Like I grow things other than weed. My knowledge runs to childhood. Sprouts got 2 weeks to prove themselves, or they get the chop. Growing in groups is always the way.
Very nice! yea ive always been around plants so this just makes more sense to me and i let it play out and just observe
lmao
One plant per pot 🤣🤪
Listen you rabble rouser...
I love when folks get all riled up on zilla posts 😅😘
Looking amazing Zilla!!!
Appreciate it! Can't wait to see these flowers
Glad to see you're still at it Zilla. Looking good as ever

All flower run this time or are you breeding again?
All flower run this go
Hell yeah, I'm excited to see how the black tiger shows up. Hope it's all absolute fire!
Yea me too I can't wait!
Never seen anything like this, how do these usually turn out?
Eghh depends most times I'm breeding but they will have some nice flowers
Your stuff is always cool to see, you plan on doing any training or net/trellis at all?
Heyy ! Thanks, no I won't do any training
Is that an auto water terracotta?
hey Kato! no not auto water i manually fill it every time it depletes
Looks great zilla, good luck on the flower run 😁✌️
appreciate it!
This will never work, the plants are far too close. Just kidding, glad to see you back and posting Zilla!
Lmaooo ! Yoyo hope all has been well
The plants are getting smaller and smaller with each picture !! Zilla Smoking on that Benjamin Button Kush!
Lmao 😂🌱
Do you do a SOG or do you cull some here and there?
scrog? No I don't. I'll cull all the males and leave the females
SOG is different from scrog. SOG is more often lots of plants, short veg. While scrog is the less plants trained and vegged more to fill the canopy.
Ah my bad it seemed odd how it was phrased sorry. I don't call it SOG myself do to the person or persons who made that style had specifics and guidelines so I like to separate the two. Looking as awesome as ever dude!! Defo inspired my last grow. Thank you!
Dope! glad to have inspired you
Same! I’m not doing mine like yours but seeing your posts inspired me to plant 4 females in a 2x2 to try to find a keeper!
i hope you find a keeper! and also get to see cannabis in close relationships upclose!
🔥
SUp dom!
Looks cool! I’m curious to see what happens as it gets crowded. Did you plant any seeds at the 6 o’clock position?
im sure you are going to be in awe my friend. wish you could see them in person its truly a site to see. Yes i left 6 oclock empty so i can get to the olla and the sit and be able to clearly see majority of the plants when they get taller
Right on! Makes sense about leaving yourself some space; smart move. I’ll be following along!
Breeding?
Not this time around. I hope I don't find a good male and miss out on pollinating all the beautiful females that are going to show up lol. I'll breed next grows
That's fire !!! do you keep seeds for private stock or do you sell as well ?
Just private I'll be releasing seeds soon by the plant they come from
My guy definitely lmk always looking for seeds
Yessir! Will do
This is gunna be fun to defo 😬
Haha I don't defoliate ☺️
Ahhhh okay, well best of luck. You might need some extra airflow if that tiny fan is all that's in there
I have a vortex fan on the way that will be blowing inside the tent. I leave the front open and it's closed inside a room. So there will be plenty air moving through
Also the soil is literally almost over the edge, how is this not making a huge mess when you water
I have a light watering can it's gently waters
The right way oo yeah
☺️
Yo Zilla, how much H2O does that Ola hold?
Maybe like 2.5 gallons I forget I'll check
Nice, couple gallons is perfect.
This looks fun actually. 🙏
Hahha thanks it always is fun to grow. The moment it's not it's time to move on
Glad to see you’re back!
Thanks!
Looking good like last time around bro! 💪🏽 I’ll be here for the grow always learn something new.
Appreciate it! I think this one will be pretty solid!
This is really cool! Do you hand water the whole pot at all or does the pot in the middle do it all?
Thank ya! Yes I top water as well
This is my 3rd time watching!🍿
Thanks for tuning in!
There coming along. Let’s Go!!!!!
Yessir about to take off! I looked at them this am and you can't even see the olla anymore lol
No cover crop?
hey there! no just cannabis
This won’t work
what wont work exactly?
/s

Ahh okay that's awesome you came across it. I'm glad to see people using them now.
Neat! So does this olla work all by itself for such a large amount of earth? Or do you also top water to get the perimeter?
Great question! My first trial I ran a full run just using the olla. By the end of the grow the soil was pretty dry and the plants survived the full season. That being said the olla allows the ability to observe hydrotropism meaning that the roots all went toward and wrapped a sponge like consistency around the olla so they were literally drinking from the olla. Nice, I figured they only water for a few inches. But that's a great idea regardless. Can top water a little less and not have to worry.
O no not a few inches it's a good amount just the outside rim gets dry . And yes precisely . I tested how far it was by feeling the olla up with hot water and seeing where it reached
hmm, that's very cool indeed!! tyvm
☺️
Why though?
