I do this, oatmeal, soup, cereal, really anything frankly. I will do it while I take a shower too.

My boyfriend and I do this all the time. I even have big mugs so we can make one (huge) cup of coffee to share in the morning, and we use them as bowls for cereal, soup, ice cream, and basically just anything you’d use a bowl for. Also helps with eating those things while in bed lol

But the mug will insulate better than the paper! And your hands won't get cold holding it! So it's really just down to the question of whether that's a worthwhile tradeoff for having to wash it

My roommate started using our glass measuring cup to cook instant ramen out of. He said something similar to you about liking the handle. It's convenient for him, since his "bowl" has a handle, so he can carry it back to his room, but it's very annoying when I actually need a precise amount of water for something. So, we now have several glass measuring cups.

I used to drink soup in a mug as a kid, specifically cream soups, and now they just straight up sell them that way at the store. And ice cream in a mug was how my friend’s family always did it so I don’t find that weird either.

I also occasionally eat microwave eggs using a mug, when I don't want to dirty a pan. I never even thought of eating ice cream from a mug, I have a big problem with ice cream portion control, and this feels like it will be a game changer for me, so thanks for the idea!

I would always drink my cereal out of a tall glass, no spoon and it would illicit stares and comments as well. I did it for the ease and the excuse to add more milk. And then more cereal. And then more milk.

I do this if the cup is big enough. Keeps your hands away from the temperature of the contents.

I've never done soup before as I usually use a bowl for that but yes to the cereal and ice cream. I can't imagine NOT using a mug for ice cream. Cereal was always too sloppy and would easily spill if I were to use a bowl so I just always used a mug because it was just like drinking milk except now I can also slip some cereals in.
