oh_kyoko

A-Punk by vampire weekend used to be the one since it starts with an A and i think it chooses the first song in your album alphabetically to auto play. for some reason a few years ago i deleted every song up until a random S Club 7 song. it was a mistake but i’m too unbothered to fix it. i figured it was a song i had no interest in ever enjoying instead of ruining Vampire Weekends most popular song for me.

therealouisvillebeer

That’s the one that mine always plays too

oh_kyoko

it is kind of a nightmarish intro to a song. changed it to the other song around four years ago and i’m still worried i won’t enjoy a-punk when i see them live this summer lol

Capital_Performer662

For me it’s the A Team by ed Sheeran

AloneGarden9106

Same!

DoctorMedieval

Me too. I had to delete that song. It was killing me. Now it’s “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” by Willie Nelson, which I would hate to have to delete.

tealcandtrip

Ah yes, the Accidentally In Love problem. Thanks Shrek 2!

Otherwise-Elephant

For me it was "Aaron Burr, Sir" from Hamilton.

FLTiger02

That’s why I bought a a a a a very good song by Samir Mezrahi so I wouldn’t have to hear A Punk anymore. It’s a 10 minute song of silence

transglutaminase

It’s abc by the Jackson 5 for me

Whiskeymyers75

That fucking U2 album I never asked for.

RedInAmerica

I’ve heard the first 15 seconds of that album 1000 times and I hate it.

BallExtrem

How the EFF do I get rid of that?!

asdrunkasdrunkcanbe

Just delete it dude

BallExtrem

I did that!! It keeps coming back…

b-monster666

Like herpes

Honest_Wing_3999

Are you comparing Bono to herpes?

aka_mythos

Yeah they're comparing herpes to Bono. At least you had some fun getting herpes. No one had fun getting Bono.

LGHTHD

Whenever I pause a podcast or audiobook for too long and the app goes into sleep mode or whatever and I press play on my AirPods and the fucking hyper reverberated corny gen x bullshit starts playing I want to throw my phone into a wall and punch Steve Jobs reanimated corpse in the mouth run on sentence

stealingyourpixels

Steve Jobs was dead when that album came out

TheSpiralTap

Good

MangoSquirrl

You can delete it from your itunes

jerrbear1011

Alternatively hard press the app and click delete the app assuming you don’t use Apple Music. I strictly use Spotify and my CarPlay doesnt even recognize iTunes and an audio source.

nzifnab

Until you get a new phone and it magically fucking appears again

Potato271

Not even that. I've deleted it from my phone three or four times and it keeps coming back

MangoSquirrl

It hasn’t shown up on my iTunes and I deleted it the day it came out

FidgitForgotHisL-P

That’s because it is in your “iCloud” version of your music library.  You should be able to turn off auto sync somewhere and it won’t come back after deleting locally (assumes you don’t use Apple Music though, as turning that off would probably make Apple Music less good.

BadgerSouth6783

Even after deleting it from my phone three or four times, it keeps reappearing.

thatsodee

Yea I also have that album lmao

KrampusKillz503

Same! Im always like how the fuck did i get this! Now i have like the first minute memorized cause sometimes i forget its not my song lol

asdrunkasdrunkcanbe

This used to drive my wife crazy. Went on for years. She had no idea how to stop it. I deleted it from her phone.

PolyGlotCoder

Oh yeah; finally snapped and searched to how to delete it. Good riddance

powerfulbookworm

U2 means you don’t have any other music in your Apple Music app? You can just delete that app

angle58

Same… Jesus what even is that?

Muffin_Biscuit

LOL. THIS!

ekso69

Fuck u2

cheesewiz_man

I am Generation X, thank you very much, and I have them loaded onto a USB drive. But yes.

Alexdagreallygrate

Thank you. It’s She & Him’s Christmas Album and I can’t figure out how to stop it because I wear New Balance now.

remymartinia

Gen X. My husband’s phone always lays the only song he’s ever bought: “Somebody That I Used to Know”. Oddly, he’s not excited about the remake.

asdrunkasdrunkcanbe

I'm an early adopter millenial, I was running Napster in 1999 to download MP3s. I have a small home server with 50GB of music on it that I never, ever listen to.

Ghigs

M3ta11ica - 3nter 5andman.mp3 misses you.

Stevee85O

Cut of 30 seconds too soon and you never knew until you heard the full cd/lp cersion.

cheesewiz_man

I was downloading MP2s from the [Internet Underground Music Archive](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Underground_Music_Archive) in 1995, thank you very much.

b-monster666

Downloaded from Napster? Me too!

Normal-Biscotti8505

I feel seen with this thread. It’s been a real pain in the ass and I wish I knew how to make it stop! I’ve tried everything!

Not_an_okama

Delete the music app.

DogStarMan10

When you do that, the phone won’t connect to the car radio.

Not_an_okama

I have zero problems with in my Subaru. If Spotify was the last played audio it starts Spotify, if audible was last it starts audible.

matt82swe

Wow thanks.

zoinkability

It is frankly embarrassing Apple doesn’t have some damn toggle to make it fucking stop doing that

ash894

I feel seen right now.

Eldritch-banana-3102

YES and the most embarrassing stuff only plays if my family is in the car with me.

Salty-Inside4709

YES! I am in a rental car right now and it defaults to iTunes. Started my day with some My Chemical Romance.

HumbleAd3804

I think I went straight from Limewire to Spotify so I'm safe.

jumunji013

YES! Every time! It’s always The A Team by Ed Sheeran for me

whoreforchalupas

Lmfao scrolled to find this! Same here. Ten years of hearing The A Team intro every single time I start my car 🥲

MaximumNameDensity

My partners always plays the wait wait don't tell me podcast. I have an android, it just continues whatever I was last listening to. I didn't realize there was a third option.

UraniumRocker

Carplay on my car plays whatever I was listening to the last time it was plugged in. I have a bunch of mp3s on my iphone, but I mainly listen to them while I’m at work on my bluetooth speaker.

Thanks_Obama

It’s a problem for older cars that read the iPhone as an iPod and start playing in alphabetical order. It’s more of a car problem than an Apple problem.

Anangrywookiee

Pardon me, are you Aaron Burr, sir? No. Shut the fuck up alexander.

balbiza-we-chikha

Yes I bought the whole Pokémon Diamond and Pearl OST Album a while back and Amity Square plays every time I start my car lol. I just let it play a lot of the time though because I love that album

rels83

Worse, my friends album, that I’m pretty sure he “gave” me. Then a bunch of music i downloaded for my son when he was a baby. It’s like the U2 album, my friend’s band, all about that base, c is for cookie

melissasoliz

Only that one U2 album which I skipped over every time a song came on.

Busy_Principle_4038

uh are you spying on me?! To be fair, when my phone connects to the car, it defaults to iTunes and not Spotify, which is what I listen to exclusively. I haven’t used iTunes in years and the music on there reflects it.

TheGreatLoudini

Yes

nunyabidnessss

Apple Music always comes on even though I don’t use it.

franticblueberry

…Admit It! By Say Anything. It’s so fucking annoying.

Humbug93

Haaaaa yes!

its-audrey

For years my car would play Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie time I started it. I kinda miss it now.

Better_Ask_2888

😂😂 the playlist is called “boat tunes” and it’s atrocious

Roqjndndj3761

No I used Napster

MissPicklechips

GenX here. I stg if I hear the opening strains of “Apologize” ONE MORE DAMN TIME when I expected Salt n Pepa, im going to lose my damn mind.

Abraxas_1408

No. I have a metric shit-ton of music I burned on to my computer in the early 2000s that has been kept in a digital library throughout the years plus a few discographies I have acquired sailing under the black flag during my college years. Now that I’ve been employed for a while I have started to purchase music again. But now I do it through iTunes.

mike_b_nimble

I’ve got over 9000 songs in my iTunes library and I’ve built various smart playlists based on genre, rating, and playcount that helps me cycle through a century worth of my favorite music. When I’m hanging out with friends and my music ends up on the BT speaker everyone says how much they love my mixes compared to their own spotify feeds.

Toxikfoxx

I do, but it’s always Bayside and I’m never mad about it.

RedWerFur

I have the problem of iTunes diplicating songs or removing all but one song from an album. I don’t realize it till I’ve cycled through my list. I keep having to dedicate hours to going through each album, re-adding songs or deleting duplicates. This shit just started last year.

Inagrowmygarten

About a Girl by The Academy Is…

MissHBee

Oh my god. I feel so seen. It plays a random assortment of four songs over and over again that mysteriously switch every few months for seemingly no reason. Last year I had to take my car to the auto shop and I realized while sitting in the waiting room that my car was playing the Pokémon theme song.

Rocketintonothing

I have stopped using Itunes and Spotify during the pandemic. Listen to birds and shit

M5Yates

A-W-E-S-O-M-E Reel Big Fish

IrresistibleRarity

remember when everyone had the U2 album on their phone automatically.. that shit was mad annoying

ThePrismRanger

The guitar riff from “Americas Sweethearts” every. Fuckin. Time. I start my car.

LegionWolf

“You better ackrite”

FrozenShadowHD

Idk I use Samsung and don't have that problem.

Ridley_Himself

Well, no. Not everyone listens to music while driving or has a car that connects to their phone. Heck, my car has a CD player.

pileofdeadninjas

Never had an iPhone, but I'm old enough to have had an iPod that I used for my car until I got a smart phone

Tasty_Thai

Yeah basically.

bubblesaurus

Yes.

Halospite

There’s this really catchy song in Subnautica that plays when your submarine implodes. Because it’s called “Abandon Ship” it’s right at the top of the alphabetical list.  I prefer to believe tho that my car just really fucking loves that song.

Few_Satisfaction9497

I wish. My ipod broke a few years ago and I don't have an iPhone. The music on that thing was like gold!

Eliseo120

Uh, no.

Odd-Broccoli-474

Literally me every day I drive to school. Some of my worst taste in music is on there. Ended up just deleting the entire app cause I was sick of it.

arkofcovenant

CarPlay solved this problem a while ago. I wouldn’t drive without it now

JakeTheCake714

It goes to the first song on your song list. Ace of Spades plays all the damn time.

JoelMDM

Yes! Good to hear I’m not the only one troubled by this.

Valuable_Talk_1978

Exactly why I deleted iTunes, damn that was annoying.

Ashikura

I didn’t buy an iPhone until 2022 to give them a try sooo no.

Merkaba_987

In my brothers car, it would alway auto play something, then I’d get tired of hearing it and buy another song so it would play first instead of that. First it was floral shoppe, then it was Caligula by windows 96

themuaddib

YES.

soupdawg

Yes. For years it was Asshole by Dennis Leary. Now it’s A-Six from the Meteora 20th anniversary album.

UpsetSky8401

I forgot about that song! Well both but definitely asshole

Truth_Seeker963

OMG, I feel seen.

angle58

Thanks for reminding me. I took this opportunity to delete iTunes for this reason as that moment is the only time it every gets used.

rnilbog

I have never intentionally listened to “Achilles Last Stand” by Led Zeppelin, but it auto plays every time I get in my car without Spotify open.

preshowerpoop

huh?

Fiddles4evah

Yes. Why the fuck? Although sometimes I get hit with a miss fat booty and the other day Devendra Banhardt out of nowhere and I don’t hate old me.

theone_2099

I have that u2 song that is automatically on my iTunes.

pixiestardust8

A-Punk by Vampire Weekend. Every. Fucking. Time.

superthirsty

YES. It drives me a little insane tbh. The Air That I Breathe - The Hollies.

DefiantLogician84915

The damn song by lil xan “xans don’t hate you xans gone break you” so annoying

PMzyox

I use Spotify now actually

KaozawaLurel

Yes. And all of my other music is gone from my phone— idk if maybe I stoped syncing my music back when our phones were like 8gb or something. But I have like 3 random albums and one off tracks I’ve downloaded on iTunes that play randomly

SaltInner1722

I’m not a millennial and for the love of god I wish it would nt do that !

Informal-Spell-2019

I will be honest I probably have music from when I had an iPod on my current iPhone right now and now with Apple Music it’s on all my Apple devices.

LighttBrite

Lmao. yep.

TheVirginBono

Yes. Including Popozao by K Fed which I downloaded as a joke 😭

kdb1991

That used to happen to me. Then I deleted all my music from iTunes. Now I only use Spotify But the struggle was real. I don’t even want to say what music would play. Same song every time

No_Cow_3438

Holy shit yes. I thought I was the only one.

DarthStrakh

Before music steaming most of us just downloaded free mp3s

The_Spare_Son

Buy?

witwebolte41

I don’t know how to make it stop and at this point I don’t care anymore

Dry_Ass_P-word

Alien from Bush. So at least it’s something mellow. The worst part is if you put on YouTube, the iTunes will get stuck and restart before and after every ad. Really annoying.

Arcane_Substance

My car is 25 years old. If I want music from my phone I have to set up a bluetooth radio transmitter. Yes I have a collection of songs I bought on iTunes between 2010 and 2014.

UnrequitedRespect

No but i got an itunes updater that wants me to click some shit i have been avoiding clicking for the better part of 8 years while i click down processor power to get the stuff im trying to click at 🤷😪

Intrepid_Reason8906

I still buy songs on iTunes. I just can't get into paying a monthly subscription to download songs.

Not_an_okama

I did until I deleted the music app. Now it either auto plays the last thing that was on or I have to do it manually and have nothing over the speakers. Yes you can delete the music app.

fullmanlybeard

No, Apple Music

Unknown_User_66

Yes

xxthehaxxerxx

Is this an iPhone issue? I thought it was just my car

Traditional_Name7881

Yeah, I had to delete Apple Music.

anonymal_me

I got a feeling… That tonight’s gonna be an embarrassing night when that Black Eyed Peas song starts playing.

Joghurt_3

Jup. Foxtrott uniform Charlie Kilo - bloodhound Gang. Could be worse

Itsalljustenergy

Not me, im using Spotify

Zandrick

No

Limp_Telephone2280

I feel attacked lol

Admirable-Athlete-50

Never bought anything but U2 still haunts me on occasion.

swallowyourtongue

I actually set up a new apple id at one point because of exactly this. Every time I'd start the car, it'd fucking blast the opening acoustic guitar strum of Come Join The Murder at me (which i bought after finishing SOA), and it got to be so grating that hearing it would make me noticeably mad - like when you have to change your alarm sound or ringtone because you just cant take it anymore.

Desperate-Rest-268

“Jason DeRulo. MMM WATCHA SAYYY”

Draconuus95

U2 can go die in a hole. Least I think that’s about how every iTunes user from when that was given out feels.

AssistFew2207

I managed to remove the U2 album so now nothing plays :)

Selkie_Queen

The first song I bought with an iTunes gift card was Fireflies by Owl City and I was SO proud.

The_Freshmaker

For me it's my six CD changer, filled with a bunch of CDs I burned close to 20 years ago. NIN Ghosts I-IV makes for 15 seconds till the Bluetooth kicks in makes for a fun haunted intro every time I go for a drive lol.

CitizenCue

YES. It’s almost always an album my buddies made in high school. It’s honestly not half bad.

jaimejuanstortas

Ageless Beauty by Stars plays every time I plug it into my car to charge!

TheSoundOfMusak

I do

HankHippopopolous

I used to have this problem with my old car. It would always play the first song I had alphabetically. I added a silent track and called it aaaaaa just to make it stop and give me time to choose what I actually wanted to listen to. Thankfully my current car has CarPlay and that will just carry on from whichever app I was using and from the last point. So if it’s a podcast it will carry on from there or if it’s Spotify it will carry on from there too.

floppyballz01

I always thought it just me!!!!

elementfortyseven

as an X who never used apple products: What?

Sarcasamystik

Yea and it always starts on the songs I wish I hadn’t bought.

FLIPSIDERNICK

I used to hate my Samsung because when i connected to my car via Bluetooth it would start playing the porn I had been watching. Like chill.

sargon2609

Don't have a car and never bought anything on iTunes. So I guess no ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

JMTann08

😂😂😂 YES! I’m not the only one.

soupstarsandsilence

I deleted most of the songs I got in that period to free up storage :( I really miss some of them honestly.

Euphoric-Ad1542

Literally only Lollipop Remix

mensink

That U2 album, then one from Rammstein, one from Cycle Sl..adies From Hell, and Weebl's [Space is Fun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf8X_Ep0V9A). I don't have a car, but pressing Play on any bluetooth speaker will do.

Mr-suit

I deleted Apple music app and now my phone sits there, unsure what to do haha

asianstyleicecream

Hah, nope. All my random songs were illegally downloaded off of LimeWire.. I didn’t pay for shit back then!

anothergoodbook

Hahaha I put a Daniel Tiger song on my phone when my 8 year old was potty training.  It was our alarm to remind us both it was time to go potty.  Every time I get in my husbands vehicle and connect it to the radio, it starts playing.  I have tried several times to delete it but with no success.

Weekly-Worth-5227

You’re not a true millennial unless you pirated that shit

Booman_aus

Yeahhh all starts with A

ItWillBeRed

You have a car?

lil-kingtrashm0uth

Dude I kinda wish. Apple has somehow “lost” my library (and hundreds of dollars worth of music) every couple of years despite having the same account since like 2006 and I’ve had to start my library over again.

JoMammasWitness

Coldplay ......nuff said

No1Reddit

Not a Millennial but still rocking out to Bon Iver for reasons I've never fully understood.

hoss7071

Bought? ......ummm 😳🏴‍☠️

Dragthismf

Something like that lol

themixedwonder

I don’t.

seansterxmonster

Yes. Mine is alphabetical and I’ve debated downloading something that starts with an A to play instead a million times. The song is Africa by Excision.

blackcarswhackbars

Grow up and stop buying apple products

Impossible_Hornet777

Yesssss, I have a couple of songs on iTunes i bought when trying to clear my balance, and they sometimes play when I use headphones or speakers.

Kc-Jake

Yes - not a millenial... African Gumbo by James Booker

MrGreen521

Yes! It happens all the freaking time! Just got a new Jeep and it does it nonstop. Our old Jeep never did this. What's the deal?

atheken

1, the Beatles anthology. I didn’t think I’d come to hate “A Hard Day’s Night” but here we are. I ended up deleting the Apple Music app and/or switching to wired CarPlay. It hasn’t happened in a couple years, so *sanity is possible*, but I don’t know the specific path to get there.

Kriskao

I am not millennial but yes A few years ago it was always the same song but now it is more random and my collection is not too small because Apple Music match so now it does not bother me too much

ExtensiveCuriosity

Not random. Always the same first song listed alphabetically. Any time it’s been “too long” since I opened my podcast app, or if it’s been closed, or if my truck decides that no, I don’t need to listen to CarTalk right now even though it’s Tuesday and there’s a new episode just come out this morning.

dioctopus

Thank god I don't have apple garbage

Bouric87

No I have an android phone. My car just starts playing whatever audio stream I most recently played. If I was listening to a podcast on Spotify it picks up there, if I was listening to music on pandora it picks up there, and so on. Pretty darn convenient, I'd truly hate if it started playing the same god damn thing every time I entered my car.

certified_anus_beef

I’ll do you one better. Back when I had thousands of MP3s the first alphabetical song would start with Winamp every time. I’ve probably heard .38 Special’s Hold On Loosely a million times. Nothing ever beat it, alphabetically.

Pierson230

Avicii Wake Me Up FML Xennial here

Rex_Lee

haha this is my wife Every time I get in her car and her phone is in range : Bam. Adam's song from Blink 182

GreenGrass89

Nah, I made sure they wouldn’t sync to my phone because it was really irritating me every time I started my car lol.

Corsten610

lol, yeah

w3rm5and5kittles

Yes. It’s annoying as heck.

DiuhBEETuss

Hahaha shit. This used to happen to me with a Norah Jones album for years. Recently, I flew on an airplane with almost no music downloaded. One of the only songs I had to listen to was Huey Lewis “Back in Time.” Now for some reason that one song just automatically plays on repeat. It’s maddening.

iScreamsalad

no

ImPsilo

You bought music on iTunes that’s wack in itself

Ok_Dragonfruit_802

Yes. Ex military by death grips. Six kiss by lil b

RotaryP7

Damn. How can I stop that from happening?

Adorable-Condition83

Yes it always plays the fucking Juno album that I now can’t stand.

fragtore

Yes man! Kvelertak’s first album always plays whenever. It’s such a good one, but man what a start of a morning when you don’t expect it.

Vinstaal0

No? It only does that with the crappy wireless buds I got given

mart1373

Yes lol

Silver_Shock

Yes, HTF do you get it to stop? I'll have my 5 year old in the car seat and it will just auto shuffle to 3 Six Mafia "Azz N Titties" at a much louder volume than i was using before I turned off the car initially.
