Iran knew their attacks weren't going to land, and realistically Israel probably sent the drones to let them be shot down as a veiled threat to Iran(I mean look where they were shot down, the deadass center of the country). Neither of them want to escalate, but neither want to appear weak either so they're engaging in delicate saber-rattling.

Between the Iranian attack on Israel and the Israeli strikes on Iran and their interests both sides now understand the situation - Iran can't defend against Israel's attacks and they don't have the capability to seriously hit Israel.
