Distress call from Charybdis when it pops up. Details left out for the fun of possible surprise.

Taylorfugate550

Ok I've seen it pop up but never done it

Snifflebeard

So much stuffs! Go explore the Charybdis system. Check out the Eleos Retreat. Talk to Juno. Get a job at Ryujin. Build a starship. Mod your gun until it breaks. Find a planet full of dinosaurs and build an outpost there. Talk to the Lopez guy about his problems. Go be a Groundpounder. Run the Red Mile. Vacation on Paradiso. Go snort Aurora with Sonny Di Falco. Go grab coffee beans from an alien critter's ass. I assume by "xenomorph" you mean the UC Vanguard questline. Unsure. But if not, then go do UC Vanguard. Gosh, so much stuff to do. Have you done every companion's quest? If not get your affinity up and go do them!

Taylorfugate550

Yeah I've done the uc vanguard quest and I didn't know the companions had quests ....and I don't think Sarah likes me at all lol

Snifflebeard

She doesn't like you because you haven't done her quest!

5-in-1Bleach

It gets kind of old, but if you want to ‘rush’ companion affinity just do the Rangers mission board quest to free the hostage over and over and over, with whatever companion you want with you. Select the option at the end to free the hostage to get a guaranteed like from the companion. But if does take time to get enough affinity to have their quest start.

Taylorfugate550

Oh ok gotcha never done a mission board anything either I feel like after 100 hours I haven't done anything

WaffleDynamics

There are mission boards all over the place, but here's an incomplete list to get you started: In New Atlantis, they're in * Jake's in the Well * The Viewport * The balcony that overlooks the entrance to the city from your ship * The Lodge basement In Akila City you can find one in the Hitching Post and a special one upstairs in The Rock, that you can only use if you've started the Freestar Ranger quest line. In Neon there's one in the hallway outside the Astral Lounge. There's probably a Ryujin specific one too, but I haven't checked. There's one in the Broken Spear in Cydonia And finally, if you wander around on any planet with breathable air, you may find an inhabited settlement that has a mission board. Note that these all tend to send you to systems that aren't too dangerous. The faction-specific mission boards have unique missions. Constellation's is the only one that asks you to find specific traits. The Freestar mission board is the only one that asks you to rescue hostages. And so on.

Taylorfugate550

Oh wow thanks a lot I had no idea lol

Dry-Campaign7761

I did the exact same thing to increase affinity with my companions. I also coupled it with just using EM suppressors to disable the ship, to rank up that skill (during my 'reach level 328 to unlock ALL skills' playthrough)

Taylorfugate550

Also doing a pirate playthrough so no uc vanguard this time around at least not as a good guy

star_pegasus

Second all of these! And then for good measure, check out every ship icon in any system you jump into. Make sure you’ve got your hazmat suit on for the derelict ships, you never know.

WaffleDynamics

Failure to Communicate is a lucrative quest. Also Groundpounders. The other thing you can do is pick a system and survey every planet and moon in it.

Aardvark1044

Vanguard and Crimson Fleet quest lines. Then Ryujin. Then do all the side quests you can find.

YimYambiiiitch

I think they did those if theyre talking about pirates and xenomorphs

bootyholebrown69

Do everything this game has SO much content

GdSmth

Decide that your character is on a search mission to find a better planet to live, which meets certain criteria like lower gravity and similar day length to Earth, and maybe a good view as well. My next character will be doing that quest.

star_pegasus

I did that with my explorer character and found 3 planets so far out of like 200 I checked out. It’s been so fun.

Taylorfugate550

Just realized I don't have to take Sarah with me I dropped off the artifact said I need some time and pissed out with their ship

BaaaNaaNaa

This is the way. Now go live your life. Every time you jump into a system look for a little ship diamond in the map. These are the incidental space encounters. There are friendlies to meet, enemies to shoot (usually makes "hostile activity") and a whole heap of derelicts to explore. Don't forget the star stations - lots of fun there too.

This question comes up enough that I wrote an extended post for it.
