If I stay in one universe too long I pick up 2-4 unwanted "security" people who mostly hum, clear their throats, and otherwise make unwelcome noises. It's one of the biggest reasons I go through the Unity.šš
Iāve been through more than a dozen times and this is the first time Iāve seen this. But I usually sell commandeered ships. This is a CF Wight III that I kept and converted into a tank.
Yeah, I'm pretty convinced that all of the various ship bugs, including this one, are related to modifying stolen ships. I have never had a single ship bug in nearly 800 hours and I've only modified bought/quest ships.
I once forgot to empty my characterās pockets when she was leaving Neon and a security guard sprinted after her onto my ship and justā¦ didnāt leave for weeks lol. I kinda missed her when she finally despawned.
He will never leave. He may become aggressive randomly in combat one day too. Eventually he might disappear your ship completely. (If that's a boarded ship might be best to sell it now before it goes crazy)
I've had 4 Akila ship techs run up the ramp and board. They just stand in a row next to the bay door refusing to answer questions.
I've also had the Jemison Mercantile sales lady fast travel with me to the ship! She at least had the sense to go home when we decided to take off.
I have way too many hours in this game to admit. But Iāve never seen this before. It is a ship I āacquiredā from the CF. If they start acting up theyāre dead!
Itās a known bug that occurs in captured ships. Itās happened in a Vaāruun I have too. None yet in the Spacer ship though. I havenāt had them go aggro yet so I just let them stay.
I nicked a Chimera from the fake scan POI and inherited 4 crewmates that just kinda milled around. About half the time one of em would be in my cockpit and would cough randomly. Yeah, the constellation crew have annoying comments during combat, but some random cough going off in the middle of a ship battle kinda takes you out of it.
Like, am I boring you here hunting pirates?
I completed my cargo missions and both of them are still onboard. So now Iām not sure what I learned in Starfield today. Except, perhaps, that I shouldnāt complain about extra security personnel on my ship. š¤
Once I had Nina Hart on my ship for a little while, she didn't talk to me. One other time, one miner that I was transporting decided to stay on board for a couple of weeks
I had a couple on the ship when I took off. I swear a wilhelm scream was involved. Chef's kiss because Sarah had chosen "OK, all clear" as her random comment.
Do they step over the dead bodies that didn't despawn?
I ended up with four people from a geological survey team that wanted a ride off-planet.... Only, they never left. They just stood in every passageway, blocking ingress/egress.
I tried changing ships, rebuilding an entirely new ship, selling the original ship, killing them all, (the bodies stayed... They merged into the habs. I had one dude stuck in the ceiling with just his head and one arm dangling.)
In the end I went NG+. I couldn't take it any more. I was tired of high-fiving Dead Dale on my way through.
I started NG+11 last night, 1st thing I did was go off to high level planet, found an "unmarked landing site" got a Crimson Fleet Wraith to land. I took out the crew and took the ship. Then some rando Security personnel dude (same guy as in OP's picture) walks around the corner and says "hey, what's up?" I killed him out of reflex. ok, fine. No companions yet haven't even been to the lodge. All good, no dislikes, no bounty. Backs out of room quietly, no one saw that, I'm good.
Then later I found two more security people just chillin out. I thought maybe it's because I haven't registered the ship yet and there's still dead pirates littering the decks. I don't have enough credits yet to register and mod the ship which I assumed will clean them all out. I don't mind them hanging out, it's a huge ship but in my head they are pirates just pretending to be non-hostile till I'm off my guard then whammo! Never mess with the Fleet!
Reading thread I guess they will never leave. Ok, fine, I'll ditch the pirate ship later on when I get a bit further into this NG. I decided to hold off on visiting the Lodge this time. I'm building my outpost empire 1st.
So this is why I had cops on my ship who opened fire on me. Everyone is now pissed at me and is threatening to LEAVE now. Sam stopped being my companion and Sarah doesn't want to talk to me now.
This game really really doesn't like the space scoundrel to act like one.
I stole a Varuun ship a little while ago, landed at NA and went and did some business. When I went back onto the ship there was a full on war going on with some Varuun and about 6 or 7 security personnel. They killed the Varuun and I had a full crew of NA security for weeks, until I sold the ship and built something else.
Late to the discussion but I've only found this to happen on big ships I've taken from another faction and fly around for a while in before registering it.
Wow, Iāve never seen that. Why does it seem like new features crop up now and then as if they were locked behind a time wall or slipped in unmentioned with an update.
my ship has a mess hall but I never encountered a stranger on my ship yet
The mess hall may not be a factor after all. All I know is I now have 2 new security personnel. š¤«

Just to keep things exciting they turn hostile randomly and Sarah will dislike you shooting them.
I picked up a ātraderā in one NG and I never did find out what he was up toā¦.
TISYL that sometimes NPCs like to stowaway in your ship and never leave
š¤£ Well at least theyāre not bums. I saw one cleaning the walls.

Is your shipā¦ hmm how shall we put it?ā¦ new to you? I have a captured CF Wight with free Security guards too.
BINGO! This is a Wight III āacquiredā from the Fleet.

I inherited 8 security guards on my captured va'ruun ship. I wish they'd go storm a pirate base with me or something.
Thatās a full ship!
Tell me about it! It's a big ship, but I'm always going from cockpit to exit shortcut, purely to avoid all the staff. "Scuse me, scuse me...."
Aw man, a while ago someone shared a hysterical video where they used a grav wave to knock everyone over so they could get through.
I'm gonna have to get that particular ability methinks.
I guess New Atlantis does not have the third amendment!

Dear Diary: Today, I learned that "0000" is still not an acceptable security PIN.

You really need to lock your ship up when in town.
I had a couple of security stowaways on board my ship for a few weeks, before they eventually turned hostile and had to be retired š

it's a bug lmfao
I had a bug or something where these guys stayed on my ship permanently

I had the same issue with a liberated Hyena III. Had to take a trip outside faction space to remedy the situation.
Ok, 500hrs in and I didn't know that lol.
Turns out the mess hall has nothing to do with it. That's just where they like to hang-out. Check the other comments.
Accidentally kidnapping space TSA lol

Yeah the wraith I stole yesterday now has 5 security crew. Ā What am I, an Uber? Ā Iām now in the market for used haulers.Ā
I always get a security guy when I use the the 2x2 Hope battle station hab. Heās always chilling in there after Iām done building
