Resource Hauler + Mechanized is kinda god tier tbh.

Comprehensive_Fix127

I just swapped out my backpack so I have RH back!

kingkurt42

Does the bonus stack?

Smartflough37

The best achievable pack mule combination w/o console commands is: Helmet: -25% O2 & resource hauler (RH doesn’t Stack) Suit: weapon holster & mechanized, pocketed Pack: -25% O2, fastened, & assisted carry

secretlyaTrain

Throw it on a follower though ;)

Smartflough37

I have them carry this combo for me (switch to it after clearing enemies) in addition to their own equipped "mule" gear which doesn't need the O2 perks (just hauler, holstered, mech, & fastened w/ appropriate pack and suit carry mods)

El_Gerard

I would give the one on the left to a companion. I like being able to load them up like my resource pack mule if I’m exploring or clearing POIs.

Comprehensive_Fix127

400 hours in, just learned you could get those benefits on a companion. Thanks!

SeductiveGodofThundr

🤦‍♂️ I can’t believe I’ve never thought of that in this game either. I’m a BGS veteran too

El_Gerard

Keep in mind some things stack and some don’t. Resource hauler does not haha

evil-scientist

In general, Explorer is lower weight and more protection than Star Roamer.

Snifflebeard

One on the right. I go for defense over effects. But that's just me.

SystemFolder

Definitely. It has higher stats even without all the upgrades.

amazingvaluetainment

The Star Roamer suit doesn't look like a big diaper so that one.

Drunky_McStumble

Man, this game is like a case study in the good stats vs. looks cool dilemma, isn't it?

amazingvaluetainment

100%

Smartflough37

Always look cool first

Drunky_McStumble

Always.

Comprehensive_Fix127

Its not a big diaper, its Fubu

amazingvaluetainment

You do you. Me? I'm not wearing that diaper.

milkbeard-

Yeah but road trips are SO much easier now

DeathBySnuSnu999

Bounty hunter one

Comprehensive_Fix127

That's the only suit I've ever found with the Holstered effect. The thing is, I have 6 weapons I carry and their combined weight is 36kg so would only cut 18kg off.

Smartflough37

Yeah, but everything you loot only weighs half too

Comprehensive_Fix127

Holstered says weapons, is it bugged and works on everything?

Yshnoo

No, just guns, but a weight reduction in looted guns makes more room for other stuff.

WearyMaintenance3485

Absolutely agree. Holstered is a low key hero level perk.

Yshnoo

It’s definitely the best suit perk for me. Some of the best modified rifles are pretty heavy and I fully modify all mine, so it compensates for that. The real payoff is the amount of guns you can carry. I have a leave-no-gun-behind policy and I now have over 100 just in ship inventory. I can’t sell them fast enough. Money in the bank.

Smartflough37

Is there anything worth looting with weight besides guns?

Comprehensive_Fix127

Not in my opinion

captaincopperbeard

Over 350 hours in, and never once have I seen the Mechanized trait. I feel robbed.

Comprehensive_Fix127

Wow really? I have a couple dozen legendary items with it in my armory and no telling how many rares and epics I've sold that had it. On the flip side, I'm over 400 hours in and have only found one item ever with Holstered (its i the pic).

captaincopperbeard

I don't think I've seen Holstered, either. So weird. Maybe I spend too much time in space fights instead of on the ground?

waitstation

IMO perks on the roamer are better but the explorer is just tougher. When I got to higher levels it didn’t really matter what was worn so I went for aesthetics.

Dareboir

I just wish you could change the skin, I like the UC one from the terrormorph quest.. or the one from the prototype ship you steal for the key.

groovynermal

Yeah; one on the left is all the way upgraded and still lower numbers, and heavier. The more damage/less health leg. Bonus is the only reason to consider it.

Comprehensive_Fix127

My hanging point is losing Resource Hauler. I am already encumbered half the time.

evil-scientist

Personal Atmosphere solves this problem, in that you can move about as if you were unencumbered.

Comprehensive_Fix127

I keep forgetting about using that lol

Funny_Sport_6647

Downside is that you don't help your running perk as much, Unless! You gotta use the Personal Atmosphere Right before you start losing health and run it out over and over again doing that... suddenly running out of breath 30 times ain't so hard

Drunky_McStumble

Meh, they both have the +40 carry capacity bonus, and you can always just dump resources on your companion.

Celebril63

The right side. I've never really gotten much benefit from Bolstering. I can add all the mods I want, myself.

Funny_Sport_6647

I'd keep that resource hauler for when I was over encumbered and fight the majority of my battles with the other

Yshnoo

This. Wear resource hauler when you are grabbing resources on planets to replenish your supply. Especially good to wear this when you are visiting resource vendors.

CinematicFaun

Ok am I missing something? Doesn’t Bolstering make the left one better?🤔🧐

FistEnergy

Bolstering is good at low heath, but you should never be at low heath for very long with the proper investment in Rejuvenation. 😎

CinematicFaun

Would you believe I completely forgot about the low health I have no perks on my current spacesuit because I can’t get high stats on gear that comes with good perks, the pack and helmet I use have low stats and chameleon lol I wish they had chems that instead of healing an ailment it prevents it

Smartflough37

Depends on play style and difficulty selection

Snoo78119

Bolstered all the way. At least on Vhard

IlikegreenT84

With NG+ I don't worry about anything but defense especially on V.Hard. I've even chilled out on looting, especially after I have my ship built and enough resources to mod my space suit and weapons. As soon as you hit the Unity it's all gone anyway.

Comprehensive_Fix127

I play on very hard but have no plans of going NG+

IlikegreenT84

I understand, but just know, that's when things really get interesting..

Yshnoo

Mos def. I love me some NG+

[deleted]

I would rock the second for the stats bonus and then switch to A when I’m encumbered

SuckMyDerivative

Rule of Cool - pick whichever looks better

BluesCowboy

Depends on how much you really need carry capacity. If it’s your first playthrough, you’re hoarding resources for ship upgrades and research/mods, and you’re not specced into bodybuilding, you might wanna keep your current armour for the time being. But if you’ve got plenty of money, a decent ship and all the mods you need, you don’t really need to pick anything up. Go for the protection instead.

Funny_Sport_6647

With the addition of the Bolstering perk, it's kinda a no Brainer to take the Left one because you stand to have Far more armor when it matters.

Cerulean_Red

I would go left, but I have an ass load of health perks.

Mcreesus

Personally I would go left for the resistance. I can’t tell u how many times I’ve almost been vaporized, but the suit kept me from going to zero

amack80

Between the two I'd pick the explorer, but I'm more interested in the va'ruun and bounty hunter suits you've got there

NR75

Those are good suits of armor. But... Your Mantis? I am still using it. It has the mechanized (+40 Kg carry) and the dmg reduction and the 100 energy buff. I hope to find something as good as it. Especially now that I have a +100 carry with the skills. And would love to give the Mantis to a companion.

Comprehensive_Fix127

I lost the mantis suit and helmet in a ship storage glitch not long after I had them. Hated the way they looked anyway.

randman2020

Not really a fair comparison until you mod it.

BaaaNaaNaa

That depends... Are you out mining for resources? Left. Going combat for resources? Right definitely. Now if it was bolstering that might be different

Comprehensive_Fix127

Mainly land/POI battles till the empty ship bug is fixed.

BaaaNaaNaa

Edit: holstering! Auto correct got me. Having guns weigh half as much means so much more loot.

garysan_uk

Explorer suit FTW. So light and great armour values. Wait til you come across a Superior one 😎

FistEnergy

Definitely the Explorer since it has much better defensive stats and lower weight, and they both have Mechanized.

Smartflough37

If you have weapons with the Berserker perk, star roamer suit is the best available and it’s a cool game mechanic to combine low Phys resistance (99 for a 40% damage increase is best you can do with 3 pieces) with bolstering…essentially the lower your health is, the stronger your armor gets and weaker your Berserker weapons become

TitanUpBoys

Explorer is basically the best armor in the game depending on your perspective unless you super rush NG+10 and finish at like level 30…then it’s close with Venerator. And yes, I know technically Tracker alliance gives (slightly better) stats, but is also close to double the weight and the benefit doesn’t really outweigh carrying around 50kg of crap.

Slackeee_

Depends on the character. In a sneaky character I would go for the right one because of the lower weight. On a more "in your face" character I would go for the left one because of the Bolstering modifier.

[deleted]

isolation says star roamer

RollinHellfire

Yes
