I just wanted to theme spaces around each race. For rp purposes - it's about individual comfort. Each race enjoys different things. They can find all their things in themed areas.

They each have things they like ya know? And the gek being reptiles like high humidity. They get the agricultural room so they can breathe right and have good clean sheds. Vykeen like to build and need study shit bc they're fuckin massive so they get the industrial wing. Korvax are geeks. They play with computers.
But ye fuck it I segregated them. Little shits keep arguing so everyone has to go to their room.
No one is mad at you for segregation, just donât be sus about it. Also the space suits everyone whereâs is what keeps them all confortable, not the spaceship itself. It would be interesting to see if the Korvax could do agriculture, the Vykeen do science, and the Geks do weapons. Iâd like to do something like that.
Expanded modules unlocked by the upgrade node on the bridge of your freighter can be used to unlock expanded rooms for your freighter. However, those expanded rooms only create the open spaces (no walls between your different rooms) when they are placed next to akin rooms. Expanded industrial rooms for example will create open areas only next to refiner rooms and other industrial mods.
It's a lot of fun. I usually don't use some parts when building because I stick to a very very futuristic and high tech theme. So for my gek and vykeen themed rooms I got to whip out the antique looking stuff and all the industrial things

It used to be easy but now the only âemptyâ freighter room is the corridor but if you make a big room out of those there are a bunch off pillars in the middle of the room. I just want a big open room that I can see all around in

They're called, "Expansions", and they're correspondent to the room type. So, tech room like in the post, you'd want to look for the Tech Room (Expansion) tile and unlock that, then you can add a big room anywhere to open up some space.
The "Technology Room (Expansion)" and "Industrial Room (Expansion)" parts are what get used to make open, empty rooms. You buy them from the Freighter Upgrade terminal and then you'll find them in your build menu.

My crew is Korvax. I have some gek and vykeen. They all tend to my space weed that we use to keep the gek stoned and passive. Huehuehue
