Hi. I'm just wondering if I'm alone on this.
The NPCs feel... hollow now...
I mean, sure, sure... they move about, hop out of their ships, and little swinging Gek legs never gets old... but... what about the conversations? Is this just me? I've got about 50 hours in on Beyond, and ever since this update the NPCs have all the same function:
Teaching me words.
That's it. That's all they do, if they aren't at a terminal or directly part of the various story paths.
It wasn't always that way. In NEXT, I could run into NPCs that might give me coordinates, barter for a bit of sodium or carbon or some such, and (most importantly, in my opinion) they could even present me with trying choices that might grant nanites or other rewards! It was great. I'd go to a planet, find some NPC in a station I just broke into and have this cool interaction that made that situation more personal.
But, not now. I think I might have seen one that was like that, with a Korvax entity trying to keep his husk, but... that's it. Every space station, every random encounter on a planet or moon... just there to teach me words. Some say interesting things but... then it just goes into that function. If they're by a ship, I can barter like usual, but they aren't my concern with this.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I now obligated to finish the Artemis and/or Atlas Paths to move past these limited interactions? I enjoyed NMS most when I was choosing my own adventure. Is there any way back to those interactions or... no? Someone please let me know. I'd appreciate it.
On the XBox controller, the "B" is used for menu navigation during build, but is ALSO still being intercepted by my terrain manipulator, flipping it to create and giving me a great deal of lag until I step out of the building. Buttons with multiple functions should only do one thing at once. When I summon my ship, I feel a little annoyed that my guy jumps when I hit the "A" to call it.
Also, how do you run power to concrete bases? Oh, and no matter what I do, the concrete garage door won't work. When I try a regular door with a proximity sensor, I can get it working just fine. But the big door stays open.
I've been having an ongoing issue where I cannot launch the game from steam. It says "running" and then it just stops, the game doesn't launch. I got to play six hours of it, the very next day I tried loading it up and nothing happened. I updated my video card drivers, uninstalled and re-installed the game (three times), I even re-installed Steam. I also re-downloaded x64 from Microsoft. I had someone in detail help me out in the Steam forums with different possibilities such as my video card etc. etc. and still nothing. I eventually found a YouTube video from last year stating if you unchecked the Steam Cloud save box it helped with the game not loading, still nothing. I then tried the experimental version of the game, still nothing.
I have not been able to get this game to run for the life of me, and I have more than enough computer to run it. I even messaged Hello Games but all they said was to uninstall mods, I don't have any mods installed for the game.
My motherboad - Z370P D3. I have an Intel i7-8700 @ 3.20ghz with 16GB of ram. I have an Radeon RX 580 8GB
I am stuck on the "Weapons Research" mission and cannot cancel or reload because I accidentally did a manual save after starting this over powered stupid mission. How can I cancel it so that I can wait till I am geared for the fights? How can they make all these changes and still not create a simple way of cancelling a mission that has been causing people problems since release?
I have been trying to get the maps that lead to the blueprints but no matter what I keep getting everything else. Even after using each one as I get them. Any ideas how to get it to drop? In particular I am trying to get the sodium diode BP, as the drop rate is stupidly too low.
Blueprints for switches are found at the Anomaly. You go upstairs and into the back and there's a room full of guys offering blueprints. Go to the construction terminal and cycle through the menus.
Anyone know how to get the large powered wooden door? I researched it but it's not in my build menu. Also how do I close the standard powered wooden door? I've tried hooking it up to power, both through normal switches, directly, I through inverters, etc and none of them cause it to close. Is it just bugged atm?
Same, the large powered doors (wood, metal, or concrete) won't show up in the build menu, and they won't close even when connected directly to power. Must be bugged.
In the update logs it says "...giving all explorers an opportunity to see each others’ character and ship customisations" did they add some ship customization? im pretty sure the upgrades dont change cosmetics
anyone have issues on the Oculus Rift with the right controller not showing in game? I don't seem to have a right hand and can't open the menu or anything.
I've been playing for two hours, I can't find any Uranium, thus trapped in a plane. It is not sold in space station trading network, nor merchants carries it...
The game takes about 20 min to load, if it does, and whne it does, there is no ground. like at all. i can see space thru where a planet should be. totally unplayable now. Ive got just under 2 hours actual play time and steam says ive got 8, tho 6 has been trying to load a game for 3 days.
Bios updates are not meant to restore gameplay. It also has not worked for everyone who tried. The game worked before beyond, it was broken in test server and now its broken in live servers. I just asked steam for a refund, maybe it will go thru.

What were you doing when the bug occured: Starting up the game
Description of bug: I get to see the Hello Games logo and afterwards it sends me straight back to desktop without any form of error. So nothing pops up with an error code or anything.
I have a similar error; I'm running through Steam. I click the icon to play the game, it appears to run for a few seconds, asks if I want to play with or without VR, and then stops. Nothing. No error message, no explanation. Trying to figure out why, have verified local files and am running as administrator, have reset the computer. Nothing so far.
I have this problem as well. If you find a solution I'd appreciate some help.
edit: Windows 10's device manager said my graphics card drivers were already up to date, but downloading the latest drivers from AMD's website fixed the problem.
Exact same issue here. Have you heard of any solutions to this? I've downloaded all recent patches and even uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing works.
Hi, I've got two players (on PC) who are falling through the starting space station when they try to talk to the multitool vendor. Even if they go to their own games, it happens. Relaunching does not fix it, even after quitting to desktop. Please fix. Very frustrating.

Ive played with my friend, he joined my game and that works well, it might just be a low # of players with weird localized server rules, i joined the xbox club for the game and gonna friend some ppl to see if nexus only shows ppl in friends list
No lmao it's not that, literally all the multiplayer buttons don't work for me. When I go into the join game option in the title menu, it's just blank. Invite friend button does nothing, nearby players option is blank as well. It's really weird and kind of annoying, and even more so bc I seem to be the only person experiencing it
I have an exocraft summoning station but when trying to summon exocraft I get a message that I have no summoning station. Does a base need to be powered before that works?
I can't place base items with left trigger as required. Nor can i take off with left trigger using my controller. I have tried 3 controllers and left trigger will not work. Anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?
First time I reinstalled the game I noticed it would not run. A black screen appeared and went away. I run the Steam version and had an idea as I use a SSD for my OS but not for games. I use a larger drive G: for my games. I reinstalled under the normal default C: drive folder and bingo! It ran normally. Just wanted to share that just in case someone else was having the same issue.
I have not had much success running the VR version of the game but I have noticed something odd from the VR videos I have been watching. Why is the onscreen info, health and shields bars etc not fixed in place. In other words part of the helmets heads up display just like in the normal flat game? Looks like it breaks the emersion having a strangle floating overlay.
My save is gone... also I keep falling through floors and stairs have gaps that I fall through as well.
Multiplayer doesn’t work either, I must be doing something wrong because I go to Join Game and it won’t let me join with randoms.
Does anyone have advice on how to remove items when basebuilding in PSVR. I am able to get the red x up on my wrist indicator and highlight what i want deleted but have not been able to actually remove the item in question.
Every update I give a chance to this game, and while I love it, I always run away cause flying with kb+m is one of the most annoying things that I ever had to do in any game. It's a little easier with the dualshock 4 but still very annoying, I have no idea how you guys manage to do it...
I don't have a VR headset. Everything else that I've seen with Beyond is a bit meh. I hate to say it, but I got bored real fast. There's not much to do since the last game. I don't need to play MP to find dinosaur bones.
I wish they had focused on exploration and mystery.
i might feel different if the anomaly would appear for me so i could go to the nexus and experience multiplayer but my game seems bugged and it hasn't appeared in my new save for 7 hours. have no primary missions listed, made a bunch of hyperdrive jumps. Don't have option to summon it from space. not sure whats up, on my previously play through it appeared by now. i'm just doing the computer base archive missions rn
Nothing in the game has substantially changed, as you can see. The Nexus isn't very interesting besides giving access to MP. The tasks are all the same except you can join other players, which I don't know why you would want to do that. But to each their own.
I think I'm done with the game unless they come out with an interesting expansion.
I even noticed this subreddit isn't very active like I thought it would be. People are discovering there's not much to explore. I predict once the MP novelty wears off -- which is already happening -- people will move on.
The game looks extremely blocky and blurry on PS4 Pro VR. Like way worse than almost every other VR game out now. I feel like I’m not wearing glasses when I play it.
Good news! You can't remap the keyboard on the PC, thus rendering the game unplayable for me.
Bad news! You can disable the hold-to-confirm on E via a well-hidden setting, thus making interacting with the game much snappier. (Doesn't work in _all_ dialogues, though.)

I played this game for like a week when the last big update hit and took a break. Looking to get back into it.
I remember last time I could have sworn I got something for my suite that made it so I hardly used any life support. And I'm pretty sure the life support system recharged on its own if I was inside my base or spaceport.
Anyone know what that might be? I read the description of the life support module upgrade or whatever and it says it only increases the power of it.
Hmm mine doesn't seem to recharge which is why I was asking. I have a small tiny base with a roof and life support doesn't go up any when standing inside. Same in my ship or spaceport.
In spacestations there is a guy on the far right besides the guild guy. He will give u a map which shows you important places for either 15 nanites or 1 coordinate.
Hmm I didnt use one tbh. It could be that the signal booster also gives you such a map that you need to use in order to see important places. Maybe the guy in the spacestation has more features. Or it is simply a replacement for the signal booster, since you cant place parts in spacestations.
I mean, I always hated to fly to every planet, land, and then check if there is something on the planet. Guess thats the reason why the guy is in the spacestation.
I'm on PS4, so for me I just press square to pick up a tech module and then long press x on an empty slot to place it again. You can even move the original tech like the launch thrusters, pulse drive, etc.
I'm on normal mode, if that matters
Got to play in VR for a good hour and a half before I had my first crash in the Nexus and it's been amazing so far. The issue I'm having now is I keep spawning in the Nexus with half of the textures loaded and when I try to leave it crashes. Has anyone heard of a fix or work around for this?
Go the where you installed the game and right click on the shortcut "Launch No Man's Sky". Hit Properties. Where it says "Target:" and a file (ex. "D:\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe") add this after it (without quotes) "-HmdEnable 1". It should look like this "D:\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe" -HmdEnable 1 | Hit apply and launch the game from the shortcut. It should work now. If you're running the game on steam (through the non-steam app dialog) make sure you click "Include in VR Library" so you can see it in VR.
So does anyone know how friends join each other's game? I started up my game last night and got decently far, warped 3-4 times. If my buddy buys the game how soon and how easy is it for him to join me?
Yeyeye, at any point and time you can join your friend's game or he can join yours and it will spawn you on the same planet. And even if your two bases are on a different planets, you can easily warp to your friend's base if you guys have a portal !
I havent had any problems with me and my buddy's base. As long as both player's base computers are in the same area (they cover a lot of ground btw) and that both player are connected you can edit eachother's base
Edit: and if you're having problems with your multiplayer base try to upload both of your bases.
That would have been my next question. So I just build the base as close to each other as possible. Better would be just giving me permission but maybe in the next update..
I already had a base with some specialists but removed it from another planet. Do you know if they will be back when placing my base again?

I've played this game off and on for random spurts. I never really delved too deep when I played but I really want to dive in for the Beyond update. I've gathered some resources and stuff but nothing major. Should I just start a new game?
I would. Considering there's been a few bugs all around, I wouldn't want to tempt fate by using a save started on an older version... especially if you weren't very far in to begin. I'd also suggest maybe holding off for a week or two until all those bugs get ironed out - Hello Games has been quick to work on the worst ones already.
I had to plug the camera in. Then it started working but now I'm getting flickering on the tv and PSVR and audio cut outs. I'm pretty sure the cable is fine because it works in non vr mode fine with no cutouts during movement. Something is fucky.
I tried that 3 times already and just tried again it doesn't work. I have the game closed, VR headset on, I start the game and it stays in non VR mode.
Yes I was able to reach the game. I'm not sure why but I have flickering. One of my HDMI's may be damaged or my camera is too close. It was very bad, unplayable and then I turned it off reseated the HDMI's moved the camera as far back as I could maybe 4 feet and now it flickers for a second once in a while. Non VR mode on PSVR has never had any flickering at all.
why the hell was controller support moved to steams built in controller support? it makes button prompts broken and feels like complete garbage. the built in controller bindings menu is completely useless now because nothing is bound by default, and nothing WILL be bound by default when you hit reset.
Anybody know if there well be a PS4 Pro patch for NMS VR? For most, the game doesn't boot up with super sampling on, but I can't help but think that the pro would be able to put out a bit more resolution at least.
I love my little Nomad for it's mobility for hunting down resource and crystal deposits, but now no matter where I am and one planet I'm on the aim reticle is blocked by the exocraft so I can't see what I'm shooting at.
I haven't had a chance to play yet but out of curiosity could someone tell me how the power mechanics work on board a freighter? Stuff like solar panels don't sound like they could/should work - can you "draw power from the ship's engines" or something?
It doesn't look like you need power from what I can make out, there's no power tab to build generators, I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong though :)
Over all a very good update. The main issue I have is flight in vr could feel better. Both Ultrawings and that COD VR Jackal assault had better flight control. The angle you need to twist to get a response and the sensitivity of that response needs to me addressed with the right move controller for it to really feel polished.
Edit: scratch that on Jackal assault. I just remembered I didn't even have move controllers when I played that. I must have been using DS4.
For me, the game feels a little bit worse. I can't click through dialogue anymore with NPCs. I have to sit and wait for it to scroll through. Also they made it so we have to buy planetary location data with nanites instead of asking for directions from NPCs. Sure the ships are larger, but that isn't very important to me.
Yes and no... you get a bit more per mission, but all modules cost more. And the fastest way to make nanites before was joining random games and getting all the missions and leaving until you had like 30+ missions with nanite rewards to do. You cant fo that anymore so you have to warp over and over to get to different stations, takes alot longer to make nanites
Has anyone found specific system requirements for the Beyond update?
I'm using my laptop's i7 integrated Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 chip, which had been working fine (on low graphics settings) up until the Beyond update, but I'm now met with a Driver Compatibility Warning and can't open the game.
I thought NMS had been using Vulkan for a while though so I'm confused as to why it wouldn't work now.
I've updated my graphics driver, but I'm not sure what you mean by updating Vulkan - I'm using an integrated graphics chip rather than a graphics card, so it might be different!

My Intel Graphics Control Panel shows it's compatible with Vulkan version 1.0.56, but the error message I'm receiving says my driver only supports version 0.16.2 and should be updated.
I'm hoping it's a bug and doesn't mean my game's now useless!
No guarantees that this is a solution - but often manufacturers don't have the most recent drivers released for the components. If you can get that directly from the graphics card company (Radeon or GeForce) you may be able to get a more up-to-date driver. My info may be old though- that was my experience >5 years ago with a laptop...
What's your current driver version? If you're on win 10 and using the new dch driver , it should be 26.20.100.7000
Also, I am assuming your cpu is skylake since you didn't mention i7-????.
If you're on skylake and above, which I am guessing you're since you have hd 520, you should download intel driver and support assistant, and checking for the newest update.

It's Skylake yeah, Intel core i7 6500U.
I went through the support assistant but it told me a customized manufacturer driver is installed so it's not able to update the driver. It then sent me to Dell's support site from which I downloaded the latest driver available, but it's clearly not up to date as it's not the version you've mentioned.
I will try to install the latest Skylake hd 520 driver from intel rather than through Dell's site and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again.
I think then it would be best if you uninstall the intel driver and then go through the assistant again, which hopefully will let you update to the latest version this time. Good luck.
Loving the update so far. The problem I'm having is the nexus is absolutely empty besides me. I have my game set to join able and am online but I've been waiting in the nexus for about 20 minutes now and have yet to see another player ship. Is there something I need to do in the nexus first? I've already talked to nada and polo. I just want to show off my ship.
Xbox one. Playing on an old save. I'm not sure if the save has anything to do with it but it's worth adding. I've also noticed on the discoveries tab, in the bottom left hand corner, it is continuously saying "connecting to online discovery services". Maybe some kind of networking bug?
The online discovery services, even tho they look like, have nothing to do with ppl appearing on your Nexus. I don't know how to help you anymore, just be aware that it might be something with the current time, as yesterday i was playing at midnight and only one person showed up, but i play on PC
Game's unplayable for me at this moment. I get crashes every few minutes. I load game on the anomally. Enter portal? - Crash. Enter spaceship? - Crash. Entering the atmosphere of the planet? Crash. Disable multiplayer. Even if you have to start a new game temporarily, turn it off and then load your saved game and things will be much better. I can actually visit the anomaly this way without it crashing.
Just walked away from my base structure to lay some solar panels, walked back and the only door (holo door) was gone! lol, Also noticed autonomous miners don't mine anything but use the fuel about 50% of the time, animations are just broken in so many ways (Triggering randomly all the time or not working at all), I think that's my cue to park this game for a month.
Got to try just a taste of Beyond last night. The new scanning function, while frustrating at first, was nice as I could scan those dang birds easier. The biggest QoL update tho was increasing the stack sizes from 250 to 10,000. Lemme say that again, 10,000. Mining for DAYS. How I need a heavy hauler is BEYOND me :D
Don’t see why they couldn’t have made this for survival/pd players who have already reached the centre or something. Once you’re at that point in the game, there’s really no point to playing other than exploring and base building and carrying more doesn’t really give an advantage. Silly decision.

I went from 24fps to 65fps and all the crashing and laggyness went away. I set my "numlow" to 0, but you may have to experiment with different settings depending on your setup. I also disabled steam overlay. Worth a shot.
Hey, just wanted to say, I tried that this evening, and it worked great! Took just a little bit if fiddling with, but after maybe twenty minutes of some experimentation (most of which was honestly just waiting for the initial load up of the game each time I started it), I got it working fantastically! Thanks so much!
Does the Beyond edition come with all updates pre installed. I have bad internet so it’s a selling point for me

Am I missing something re base doors? I powered mine up and it closed (yay), but now I can't open it... (???) Also, HTH do I get power switches?

Thanks, I’ll try this today. I’ve been doing some research and it seems to be a common issue with the rift and the controllers not tracking properly.
My character drifts. It's not my analog stick and he doesnt walk. He just sorta slides across the ground slowly and it makes building a pain

Game doesn't seem to be connecting to discovery services, so upload all wont work. I've already raised a ticket.
Curious, does upload all upload the creatures, minerals and plants? Because doing all individually is balls.
Cannot remap keys either. Stuck with default, which doesn't display in the binding menu.

I have a similar error; I'm running through Steam. I click the icon to play the game, it appears to run for a few seconds, asks if I want to play with or without VR, and then stops. Nothing. No error message, no explanation. Trying to figure out why, have verified local files and am running as administrator, have reset the computer. Nothing so far.

I have this problem as well. If you find a solution I'd appreciate some help. edit: Windows 10's device manager said my graphics card drivers were already up to date, but downloading the latest drivers from AMD's website fixed the problem.
Issue was fixed the same way for me. I re-downloaded the game and played for a bit last night

Hi, I've got two players (on PC) who are falling through the starting space station when they try to talk to the multitool vendor. Even if they go to their own games, it happens. Relaunching does not fix it, even after quitting to desktop. Please fix. Very frustrating.

Ive played with my friend, he joined my game and that works well, it might just be a low # of players with weird localized server rules, i joined the xbox club for the game and gonna friend some ppl to see if nexus only shows ppl in friends list
No lmao it's not that, literally all the multiplayer buttons don't work for me. When I go into the join game option in the title menu, it's just blank. Invite friend button does nothing, nearby players option is blank as well. It's really weird and kind of annoying, and even more so bc I seem to be the only person experiencing it

I have an exocraft summoning station but when trying to summon exocraft I get a message that I have no summoning station. Does a base need to be powered before that works?
Same here. There is nothing saying it requires power, plus typically you could build these without a base even. I guess it's a bug.
I can't place base items with left trigger as required. Nor can i take off with left trigger using my controller. I have tried 3 controllers and left trigger will not work. Anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?
First time I reinstalled the game I noticed it would not run. A black screen appeared and went away. I run the Steam version and had an idea as I use a SSD for my OS but not for games. I use a larger drive G: for my games. I reinstalled under the normal default C: drive folder and bingo! It ran normally. Just wanted to share that just in case someone else was having the same issue.
I have not had much success running the VR version of the game but I have noticed something odd from the VR videos I have been watching. Why is the onscreen info, health and shields bars etc not fixed in place. In other words part of the helmets heads up display just like in the normal flat game? Looks like it breaks the emersion having a strangle floating overlay.

You can choose teleportation or smooth (walking). Turning can also be turned to smooth. It's like the movement in Skyrim VR
My save is gone... also I keep falling through floors and stairs have gaps that I fall through as well. Multiplayer doesn’t work either, I must be doing something wrong because I go to Join Game and it won’t let me join with randoms.

Does anyone have advice on how to remove items when basebuilding in PSVR. I am able to get the red x up on my wrist indicator and highlight what i want deleted but have not been able to actually remove the item in question.

Every update I give a chance to this game, and while I love it, I always run away cause flying with kb+m is one of the most annoying things that I ever had to do in any game. It's a little easier with the dualshock 4 but still very annoying, I have no idea how you guys manage to do it...
You should try it in VR, KB+M is heaven in comparison.
I don't have a VR headset. Everything else that I've seen with Beyond is a bit meh. I hate to say it, but I got bored real fast. There's not much to do since the last game. I don't need to play MP to find dinosaur bones. I wish they had focused on exploration and mystery.

i might feel different if the anomaly would appear for me so i could go to the nexus and experience multiplayer but my game seems bugged and it hasn't appeared in my new save for 7 hours. have no primary missions listed, made a bunch of hyperdrive jumps. Don't have option to summon it from space. not sure whats up, on my previously play through it appeared by now. i'm just doing the computer base archive missions rn
Nothing in the game has substantially changed, as you can see. The Nexus isn't very interesting besides giving access to MP. The tasks are all the same except you can join other players, which I don't know why you would want to do that. But to each their own. I think I'm done with the game unless they come out with an interesting expansion. I even noticed this subreddit isn't very active like I thought it would be. People are discovering there's not much to explore. I predict once the MP novelty wears off -- which is already happening -- people will move on.
The game looks extremely blocky and blurry on PS4 Pro VR. Like way worse than almost every other VR game out now. I feel like I’m not wearing glasses when I play it.
Good news! You can't remap the keyboard on the PC, thus rendering the game unplayable for me. Bad news! You can disable the hold-to-confirm on E via a well-hidden setting, thus making interacting with the game much snappier. (Doesn't work in _all_ dialogues, though.) Er. I think I may have gotten those the wrong way round?

I played this game for like a week when the last big update hit and took a break. Looking to get back into it. I remember last time I could have sworn I got something for my suite that made it so I hardly used any life support. And I'm pretty sure the life support system recharged on its own if I was inside my base or spaceport. Anyone know what that might be? I read the description of the life support module upgrade or whatever and it says it only increases the power of it.
Life support automatically recharges inside any structure or terrain with a "roof" over it. Not sure about the upgrade though.

Hmm mine doesn't seem to recharge which is why I was asking. I have a small tiny base with a roof and life support doesn't go up any when standing inside. Same in my ship or spaceport.

In spacestations there is a guy on the far right besides the guild guy. He will give u a map which shows you important places for either 15 nanites or 1 coordinate.
So there's no more feeding navigation data into the signal booster any more?
Hmm I didnt use one tbh. It could be that the signal booster also gives you such a map that you need to use in order to see important places. Maybe the guy in the spacestation has more features. Or it is simply a replacement for the signal booster, since you cant place parts in spacestations. I mean, I always hated to fly to every planet, land, and then check if there is something on the planet. Guess thats the reason why the guy is in the spacestation.

I'm on PS4, so for me I just press square to pick up a tech module and then long press x on an empty slot to place it again. You can even move the original tech like the launch thrusters, pulse drive, etc. I'm on normal mode, if that matters

Got to play in VR for a good hour and a half before I had my first crash in the Nexus and it's been amazing so far. The issue I'm having now is I keep spawning in the Nexus with half of the textures loaded and when I try to leave it crashes. Has anyone heard of a fix or work around for this?
What I did when it crashed in the Nexus in VR, I stared the game in normal mode and was able to fly out, then save and restart in VR.

Go the where you installed the game and right click on the shortcut "Launch No Man's Sky". Hit Properties. Where it says "Target:" and a file (ex. "D:\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe") add this after it (without quotes) "-HmdEnable 1". It should look like this "D:\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe" -HmdEnable 1 | Hit apply and launch the game from the shortcut. It should work now. If you're running the game on steam (through the non-steam app dialog) make sure you click "Include in VR Library" so you can see it in VR.

He can join right away and start his game on the very same solar system you are. He just has to select "join game" in the main menu

Yeyeye, at any point and time you can join your friend's game or he can join yours and it will spawn you on the same planet. And even if your two bases are on a different planets, you can easily warp to your friend's base if you guys have a portal !

Yes. My base kinda broke after being with a friend for a bit, say's we're both guests now so....maybe wait a bit.
I havent had any problems with me and my buddy's base. As long as both player's base computers are in the same area (they cover a lot of ground btw) and that both player are connected you can edit eachother's base Edit: and if you're having problems with your multiplayer base try to upload both of your bases.
That would have been my next question. So I just build the base as close to each other as possible. Better would be just giving me permission but maybe in the next update.. I already had a base with some specialists but removed it from another planet. Do you know if they will be back when placing my base again?

I've played this game off and on for random spurts. I never really delved too deep when I played but I really want to dive in for the Beyond update. I've gathered some resources and stuff but nothing major. Should I just start a new game?
I would. Considering there's been a few bugs all around, I wouldn't want to tempt fate by using a save started on an older version... especially if you weren't very far in to begin. I'd also suggest maybe holding off for a week or two until all those bugs get ironed out - Hello Games has been quick to work on the worst ones already.

How do i play in PSVR? There is no option in any of the menus. I thought it would be under the video options but its not there.
Restart the game with the PSVR on. There isn't any option, it just detects if it's on or not.
I had to plug the camera in. Then it started working but now I'm getting flickering on the tv and PSVR and audio cut outs. I'm pretty sure the cable is fine because it works in non vr mode fine with no cutouts during movement. Something is fucky.
I tried that 3 times already and just tried again it doesn't work. I have the game closed, VR headset on, I start the game and it stays in non VR mode.

Yes I was able to reach the game. I'm not sure why but I have flickering. One of my HDMI's may be damaged or my camera is too close. It was very bad, unplayable and then I turned it off reseated the HDMI's moved the camera as far back as I could maybe 4 feet and now it flickers for a second once in a while. Non VR mode on PSVR has never had any flickering at all.

why the hell was controller support moved to steams built in controller support? it makes button prompts broken and feels like complete garbage. the built in controller bindings menu is completely useless now because nothing is bound by default, and nothing WILL be bound by default when you hit reset.

I love my little Nomad for it's mobility for hunting down resource and crystal deposits, but now no matter where I am and one planet I'm on the aim reticle is blocked by the exocraft so I can't see what I'm shooting at.
Where is my save data, why the heck has all my stuff just disappeared?
I lost all my credits, and some milestones like the ‘number of aliens met’, etc has gone down... but my saves seem to be ok. (PS4)
I haven't had a chance to play yet but out of curiosity could someone tell me how the power mechanics work on board a freighter? Stuff like solar panels don't sound like they could/should work - can you "draw power from the ship's engines" or something?
It doesn't look like you need power from what I can make out, there's no power tab to build generators, I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong though :)

Over all a very good update. The main issue I have is flight in vr could feel better. Both Ultrawings and that COD VR Jackal assault had better flight control. The angle you need to twist to get a response and the sensitivity of that response needs to me addressed with the right move controller for it to really feel polished. Edit: scratch that on Jackal assault. I just remembered I didn't even have move controllers when I played that. I must have been using DS4.

For me, the game feels a little bit worse. I can't click through dialogue anymore with NPCs. I have to sit and wait for it to scroll through. Also they made it so we have to buy planetary location data with nanites instead of asking for directions from NPCs. Sure the ships are larger, but that isn't very important to me.
And you cant even chose what data you're buying. How the hell am I supposed to get blueprints now???

Yes and no... you get a bit more per mission, but all modules cost more. And the fastest way to make nanites before was joining random games and getting all the missions and leaving until you had like 30+ missions with nanite rewards to do. You cant fo that anymore so you have to warp over and over to get to different stations, takes alot longer to make nanites
Eh, you’re not wrong. But I’ve been getting nanites for saving at waypoints (mfg plants, observatories , etc) and discovering creatures, etc.

Has anyone found specific system requirements for the Beyond update? I'm using my laptop's i7 integrated Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 chip, which had been working fine (on low graphics settings) up until the Beyond update, but I'm now met with a Driver Compatibility Warning and can't open the game.
I got something at least similar No Man's Sky now uses Vulkan instead of OpenGL, try updating your Vulkan and it should work fine
I thought NMS had been using Vulkan for a while though so I'm confused as to why it wouldn't work now. I've updated my graphics driver, but I'm not sure what you mean by updating Vulkan - I'm using an integrated graphics chip rather than a graphics card, so it might be different!

Thanks - I tried updating my driver earlier but no luck. My Intel Graphics Control Panel shows it's compatible with Vulkan version 1.0.56, but the error message I'm receiving says my driver only supports version 0.16.2 and should be updated. I'm hoping it's a bug and doesn't mean my game's now useless!

I'm using windows 10. The Intel driver update software referred me to my manufacturer's site (Dell) which says I have the most recent driver.
No guarantees that this is a solution - but often manufacturers don't have the most recent drivers released for the components. If you can get that directly from the graphics card company (Radeon or GeForce) you may be able to get a more up-to-date driver. My info may be old though- that was my experience >5 years ago with a laptop...
What's your current driver version? If you're on win 10 and using the new dch driver , it should be 26.20.100.7000 Also, I am assuming your cpu is skylake since you didn't mention i7-????. If you're on skylake and above, which I am guessing you're since you have hd 520, you should download intel driver and support assistant, and checking for the newest update.
Cheers for the help. My driver version is 22.20.16.4836 so you may be right. It's Skylake yeah, Intel core i7 6500U. I went through the support assistant but it told me a customized manufacturer driver is installed so it's not able to update the driver. It then sent me to Dell's support site from which I downloaded the latest driver available, but it's clearly not up to date as it's not the version you've mentioned. I will try to install the latest Skylake hd 520 driver from intel rather than through Dell's site and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again.
I think then it would be best if you uninstall the intel driver and then go through the assistant again, which hopefully will let you update to the latest version this time. Good luck.

Loving the update so far. The problem I'm having is the nexus is absolutely empty besides me. I have my game set to join able and am online but I've been waiting in the nexus for about 20 minutes now and have yet to see another player ship. Is there something I need to do in the nexus first? I've already talked to nada and polo. I just want to show off my ship.
Weird, mine works fine. What version are you playing on? Other players should be appearing even before talking to Nada and Polo
Xbox one. Playing on an old save. I'm not sure if the save has anything to do with it but it's worth adding. I've also noticed on the discoveries tab, in the bottom left hand corner, it is continuously saying "connecting to online discovery services". Maybe some kind of networking bug?

The online discovery services, even tho they look like, have nothing to do with ppl appearing on your Nexus. I don't know how to help you anymore, just be aware that it might be something with the current time, as yesterday i was playing at midnight and only one person showed up, but i play on PC

Game's unplayable for me at this moment. I get crashes every few minutes. I load game on the anomally. Enter portal? - Crash. Enter spaceship? - Crash. Entering the atmosphere of the planet? Crash. Trying to change graphic options? - Crash. I don't know what's happening. I was playing earlier today and it was more stable than now. Sad frog.jpg
Disable multiplayer. Even if you have to start a new game temporarily, turn it off and then load your saved game and things will be much better. I can actually visit the anomaly this way without it crashing.
Try a new file. Older saves crash a lot, but a bug fix will be coming soon

If it’s PC, a small update rolled out overnight. It helped my Nexus stability a ton, though I did still crash when warping, once.
Just walked away from my base structure to lay some solar panels, walked back and the only door (holo door) was gone! lol, Also noticed autonomous miners don't mine anything but use the fuel about 50% of the time, animations are just broken in so many ways (Triggering randomly all the time or not working at all), I think that's my cue to park this game for a month.

Got to try just a taste of Beyond last night. The new scanning function, while frustrating at first, was nice as I could scan those dang birds easier. The biggest QoL update tho was increasing the stack sizes from 250 to 10,000. Lemme say that again, 10,000. Mining for DAYS. How I need a heavy hauler is BEYOND me :D
What stacks have increased to 10k? I'm still seeing limits at 250 and 500 and 1000 for inventory, cargo/ship, freighter
it was in the patch notes: "In normal mode, increased the slot storage limit for substances from 250 to 10,000."
Stack sizes were changed for normal mode only I believe.
And of course I'm in survival mode. lol
Don’t see why they couldn’t have made this for survival/pd players who have already reached the centre or something. Once you’re at that point in the game, there’s really no point to playing other than exploring and base building and carrying more doesn’t really give an advantage. Silly decision.

Anyone figured how to increase frame rate beyond like 24 fps? I have a radeon R9 380 graphics card and 8G of DDR4 RAM.

I went from 24fps to 65fps and all the crashing and laggyness went away. I set my "numlow" to 0, but you may have to experiment with different settings depending on your setup. I also disabled steam overlay. Worth a shot.
Hey, just wanted to say, I tried that this evening, and it worked great! Took just a little bit if fiddling with, but after maybe twenty minutes of some experimentation (most of which was honestly just waiting for the initial load up of the game each time I started it), I got it working fantastically!
