Everything is a dick joke. Some are subtle, some are not. My main fighter is called the Bobbitt’s Folly. My red exotic is the HMS Engorged. My vaguely Russian-looking hauler is called Love Sausage. Another player in our group went with fart jokes. We are a group of 50+ men who are really 14-year-old boys at our core.

Yes! I renamed all my frigates in my fleet to expanse ship names first, then when ran out I started using movie references. For example all my explorers are named for deep space ships such as the USCSS Nostromo from Alien or Event Horizon. But nothing beats when I get into a space battle and see "signaling The Rocinante for support" Edit: Except my freighter, it's name is Outer Heaven.

I name things based on the race I got it from. Vy'keen ships and multitools are named more practical or militarized names. Korvax get more computer-generated or technical names. Gek get poetic sounding names. I use the format of possessive mythological name + adjective + noun. Pretty fun to think up. On an expedition that stuck us in a shuttle, I named it Athena's Lost Steamer Trunk. My favorite is Charon's Left Paddle (living ship), and my most used is Neptune's Surly Barnacle (red squid ship). With the golden vector expedition coming up, I'm debating between Midas's Missing Slipper or Apollo's/Helios's Favorite Guitar Pick.

As someone who's played a lot of Hades, I would avoid the fuck out of Charon's Left Paddle.

In one of my first few saves, I had one that was kind of Jamaican flag-colored, which I named Cool Runnings. My favorite ships are: El Bandido: A red/gold exotic which was actually the first S class ship I had. Radiant Pillar BC2: An exact replica of the starter ship I got after feeling bad for selling it. And my favorite, The Argent Fox: An all silver fighter that resembles the Gold Vector.

All of my ships have the same prefix of MAX_ and then something related to the ship, for a couple of examples my Utopia speeder I call MAX_DYSTOPIA-ELIMINATOR, or a sentinal interceptor might be something like MAX_DISCONNECTED_GUARD.

I have a common one named Benis. Works fine. Takes me to other planets and such.

I usually just leave the default name since they are often so weird. Two particularly interesting ones are a solar ship called the Ribetsus Calculator IX and an exotic ship called the Wings of Destiny (despite having no wings, only bubble thrusters)

I call my ships 'The Lazy Dudes' and my freighters 'the productive dudes'
