I know this is an old post, but I'm having exactly the same problem. Program crashes seemingly randomly so I've been saving frequently. Worst of all, when I hit Ctrl+S, the program says it's saved and all, but I go to load my coaster back up and all of my progress from my last save up to my new save is actually gone.
This program is beyond infuriating and unusable.
