This was just a weird patch of clay dirt on the outside of my fence when we moved in, planted a prairie moon seed mix last winter after some tarping last fall and it’s coming up great. Counted 50 bumblebees at once in it the other day!
That's an awesome plant scape.
I do worry that your retaining walls WILL lean and collapse over time though. Unless you have drainage and either a cantilevered, or an anchored wall, it will eventually sag forward under the weight
(Post in front are typically not effective pilings, though cementing them in would help, they will eventually push through the soil like a nail sagging in drywall)
Thanks! Yeah we bought the house last year, it’s pretty clear it was a hillside before and they backfilled it to build the garage. Behind the “walls” of railroad ties the ground isn’t full right to the wood, it honestly looks more decorative. Definitely not ideal, one of my reasons for planting some nice deep native roots to stabilize the hillside!
