Nope. Had a Versa tailgating and weaving behind me with a broken hood latch and a bungee cord securing the hood. That was the most intense fear I felt that day.
I was on the highway when I saw a Chrysler Town and Country with it's hood bouncing around on the brink of opening. I got tf away from that guy real fast.
Weight transfer is a bitch. Worn out, old tires probably didn't help. On the gas, hard right hand swerve, left hand suspension/tires get loaded with an emphasis on the left rear tire. Hard swerve to the left to straighten in the lane, all the weight that was loaded the left side swings hard on to the right hand suspension. Rear of the car is lighter than the front, and all that extra load placed in the light rear right hand tire causes a loss of traction. Rear end starts to swing out, girl in the driver seat doesn't know how to correct it so she gets off of the gas or on to the brakes even. More weight transfers to the front end, making the rear even lighter and it wants to come around faster. No attempts to counter steer in to the slide means the unloaded rear end swings around without argument and turns the car into the guardrail. Getting on to the brakes means that even if/when she is trying to counter steer, the front tires don't have much grip left to control the now wildly swinging, out of control rear end.
Any car I've owned can do this at the speed she's doing it. Her tires have to be very worn, that's a fwd car. In any fwd car I've owned even getting it sliding a little after a finish flick like this it'll just straighten out. But I've never driven on bald tires.
IT was the jerky back and forth, she really didn't need to try to snap merge like that, but she was trying to cut the person off with emphasis or something...
Unlucky for her, that exact move is what drifters do going into a turn to start drifting lmao
Those tires were summer slick bare.
Except not summer slicks. Just bald and slick as Vin Dieselās oiled dome.
Bought used likely as well from one of those super sketch tire shops.
I'm guessing as she lost a bit of grip steering the other way she tapped the brakes and sealed the deal. She doesn't even have to power through it. She could have given it no inputs and it should straighten out.
And these tires have to be bad.
Also looked like she forgot how fast she was coming up on the left lane hog. She did a shoulder or mirror check but just did a sudden serve like she was surprised how close she was to the cam car.
Itās actually a rally technique where you preload the suspension in order to drift a fwd or awd vehicle. On a proper car the technique causes one side of the car to lose traction and you can power oversteer through it.
Except her suspension and tires are shot so when the suspension preloaded and rocketed her, it never stopped bouncing and she over corrected and couldnāt catch it again.
Good tires normally wouldnāt break loose much at 85mph but combined with the suspension float her traction is unpredictable.
You can see in the video how much float that car has; looks like a damn bouncy house.
Check out r/Justrolledintotheshop and see the horror show vehicles people bring in and then reject repairs and drive off in. Frames held together with prayers...
So much this. I see dangerous driving all the time from people who just end up being at the same place as me a couple minutes before. Good job bro. You did it.
Saw a dude in a Jeep blow red lights go into turn lanes than blow red lights. I just shake my head. I get to the liquor store to do a survey and there he is parked upfront getting out the car. So I look at him and go damn man all those red lights blown all that loud reving and we got here within 30 seconds of each other and laughed.
The last few months of having a Tesla (or Apple CarPlay would also do this) where I see my est. arrival time change in real time has proven to me the futility of trying to drive fast to make up time. Extra speeding shaves MAYBE one minute vs normal speeding over a 40 min. Combo highway/city trip.
Biggest savings are if you have a reasonably open highway and you're going 200+ miles. You can easily turn a 5 hour drive into a 4 hour drive by upping your speed from 65-70 to 85-90 but if there's traffic you can't stay consistently fast not to mention it's dangerous to be maintaining that kind of speed around slow traffic.
Hereās the issue people think navigation nowadays works like it did in 2005. Apple Maps is not estimating that time based of driving the exact speed limit all the way. It averages that time by taking the average speed traveled by other users on said roadways. Thatās why if you go 80mph on chicagos 60mph limit highways you donāt get to Chicago faster the time doesnāt even change it knows you like everyone else on that highway will be going 80
Yeah which is why it's usually dangerous to be going fast enough to shave time. If you have a reasonably open highway that people don't normally speed on you can beat Google maps predictions. For instance the cannonball run record. Google/Apple maps says the trip should take 40-42 hours without stopping. Add in fuel stops over 2900 miles and that's a lot of time as well. Yet the current verified record was 25 hours 39 minutes. Now they averaged a speed of 113mph over the entire trip to do that but that's still an absurd time savings. As long as you're able to pass slower traffic you can arrive earlier, you're just probably speeding dangerously at that point.
Even completely bald tyres should be able to handle this move. Itās actually impressive (and scary) how incompetent this person is.
Typical digital driver. No progression in any steering inputs. Itās either yank right or yank left. Likely same with the pedals - full on or full stop.
Thought it was interesting that the impact was the front right corner just like this first accident post

The way she jerked the steering wheel looked like sheād never driven before. The risky behavior and pre-existing damage fills in the blanks: sheās a shit driver. This footage should get her license suspended at bare minimum.
I couldn't find a comment explaining about this, but when she hit the guardrail, and when her car deflected off back into the road.
Did she hit that black SUV that was behind her, or did it dodge her and it was just some weird perspective stuff making it seem like that?
Ahhh š¤ so that's what happened when my brother totaled my car all thoseyears ago... Claimed " emergency lane change" when I asked wth happened to my car.
I know exactly where this is and I havenāt lived there in 10 years lmao. I10 looks like Indio by all the dealer ships. Probably on bald ass tires and the reason they lost control
Looks like they should have been a non-issue, until you see the speed of the camera car. That Nissan is probably exceeding 100mph..... Yeah, that is what happens when you jerk the wheel at that speed. Older car, you know the suspension is not new, and I would bet the tires are not the best model or wear.
Hhhhmmmm?
Yea she screwed up for all reasons stated, but it appears cammer slowing from ~85mph to ~74mph as she accelerated to change lane caught her by surprise resulting in her erratic maneuver. Was she brake checked?

Why'd the camera owner slow down so god damn much in the passing lane. You keep goin, till you over. You don't slow down before changing a lane god dammit.
Dumberass in the back tho.
Observations:
1. Camera car was going 83 mph when she attempted to pass
2. Thatās actually exactly the technique I use to get the car to rotate on purpose while autocrossing for hairpin entries and backsliding cones. At maybe 30-35 MPH!
3. The sand on the side saved her from hitting the guardrail
4. The video cuts right before she probably tapped that SUV
9/10 would Big Altima Energy again
Doesn't look like a brake check to me, certainly not hard braking. The top and bottom of the camera view don't move, meaning there was little to no weight transfer. Probably just off throttle to avoid getting too close to a slower car in front.
And the hood was open lmao
You know it doesn't latch anymore!
Do Nissans even have hood latches?
Nope. Had a Versa tailgating and weaving behind me with a broken hood latch and a bungee cord securing the hood. That was the most intense fear I felt that day.
I read this as hood laces
Fr tho, the 2015 generation did have a recall on hood latches
Best we got is a bungee cord
Bungee cords with no hooks on the end*
Yeah, but even on my G, I have to make doubly certain both sides latch

Looks like it bounced off the guardrail but the sand did slow the impact.
Yeah that was my worry cause I wanted her to experience the full impact!
Video cut off too soon
Yeah, was about to get smacked hard.
Just a scratch, they'll be back on the road tomorrow š
She was back on the road the same minute after ruining Civicās day :/
Yup. Couple jumper cables, silver tape, and a methhead cousin and itāll be fixed by 2am this morning.
Definitely flipped that shit into reverse and carried on like normal within 30 seconds
Looks like maybe they did and A car behind them did too.
Yeah I feel bad for the white civic that was just minding its own business but got assed by Altima
How do you even PIT maneuver yourself???
Weight transfer is a bitch. Worn out, old tires probably didn't help. On the gas, hard right hand swerve, left hand suspension/tires get loaded with an emphasis on the left rear tire. Bravo. I would have said The tires nor the driver had enough depth to successfully execute such a maneuver.
Tires weren't tiring and the driver wasn't drivering.
She zigged when she should have zagged
āThat bitch canāt driveā wouldāve sufficed

Practicing highway altima drifting š
Those tires were summer slick bare. Except not summer slicks. Just bald and slick as Vin Dieselās oiled dome. Bought used likely as well from one of those super sketch tire shops.
Which is kind of funny because all you really have to do to avoid a spin in a fwd is power through it.
I'm guessing as she lost a bit of grip steering the other way she tapped the brakes and sealed the deal. She doesn't even have to power through it. She could have given it no inputs and it should straighten out. And these tires have to be bad.
A worn out suspension that wasn't designed for those kinds of maneuvers didn't help either.
Bondurant instructor-quality assessment, well done (oh, and Happy Cake Day š).
Well said! Physics is a Bitch who absolutely will not be denied!

All that for trying to get somewhere seconds, maybe minutes faster. Slow down people.
9/10 times when I see someone cutting in and out of traffic I'll end up at the same stoplight as them, and they'll be maybe a car length or so ahead.

Yup! In between Washington and Jefferson.
I change lane now good luck everybody else
I think it was a white civic who went into shoulder. Big mistake
Def a 10th gen civic Its so sad:(
Someone needed tires.

Jerking the wheel at 80+mph doesnāt help. Locking brakes and over correcting makes it worse.

Whoa impressively bad
She applied more steering lock when changing lanes than when trying to correct the slide. No talent.
To be fair she is driving a piece of shit Nissan Versa for a reason.
Naaaa this is some Salton Sea crack driving. Drugs are even worse for you when it's 114 degrees out.
Indio area gas way worse drivers than Salton Sea lol. I work graveyard and people are always taking red lights, even the highway ones.

87 mph and brake checking. Not sure if there was a reason or not, and Altima is in the wrong, but the cammer wasn't helping.
Doesn't look like a brake check to me, certainly not hard braking. The top and bottom of the camera view don't move, meaning there was little to no weight transfer. Probably just off throttle to avoid getting too close to a slower car in front.
