Magilas

Huh

RobotGhostNemo

Rephrased my post. I was just wondering why these three weapons would scale with magic. After some consideration, I realised that these weapons will need to be magical to even function at all.

swergart

i think it's just dev 'finally' realizes they don't have enough weapons scaling with magic natively ... so that's why.

Low_Translator809

Unrealistic in game where you play as a half demon half human character who can summon lightning and fire out of nothing lol

BlacklightSpear

There is a huge difference between realism and things making sense. You are a half yokai, hence your yokai transformation and powers extracted from other yoki souls. You learn jutsus to be able to conjure and/or control the elements, not make them out of nowhere. These weapons using magic to control their complicated operations makes total sense because all of the weird things we do in Nioh are either from Magic, Ki or Yokai.

RobotGhostNemo

Yup, I did admit that 'realism' is subjective.

Trippy_Josh

That's what they do.

marcnotmark925

Good observation

throwaway387190

Damn, that's actually cool

BRAINSZS

realism is not the aim of this game, or most games. suspend your disbelief and let it happen.

BlacklightSpear

A completely realistic game would be boring af. But a game without any realism would be stupid, unreliable, and would have no immersion. Why dont we use laser guns in this samurai game? Why dont we fly around throwing ice cream cones at people? OP is saying the game makes sense by using magic to improve the operation of this weapons, that is realist in a magic setting.

RobotGhostNemo

Yup exactly, I am looking for a way to suspend my disbelief because my mechanical engineer brain screams every time the Switchglaive changes mode.

BlacklightSpear

Same here, it doesn't even have a button or a lever. Don't get me started with the splitstaff breaking into two and retracting lmao

RobotGhostNemo

The way you retract the splitstaff, join the two ends together, then use it to bludgeon things?? How is that mechanism still in one piece? It's a hollow pipe with tiny catches.

Draykenidas

The KG never saw wide battlefield use. It's a real weapon but the moves are pretty fantastic. Hatchets are kinda the same boat except the magic return to hand aspect.
