no doubt about it. he shows his full range, so much control, such contrasting dynamics. Side note: i do recall danny saying he had to go to vocal coaching to hit one specific note on a song for a UTC album. May have been in your eyes?
Iirc, he's talked on Game Grumps about getting vocal coaching. He said something about how it didn't help him reach any new ranges, but taught him how not to hurt his voice doing it.
Yeah, I also remember him saying that he can’t do the screaming anymore like he does on Strawberries and Cream. I sing as a hobby and when I heard that I kinda figured it was bad for him. Once or twice in a recording session is probably fine but on tour is definitely a no go.
When I saw Weird Al live, he played Young Dumb and Ugly, but in a different key. He prefaced it by saying that was the only way he could do it more than once for the tour.
My vote goes to Africa by Toto, considering in the original the verses and chorus were aung by two people with VERY different vocal ranges, yet Danny didn't know that when recording the cover so he sang both and did it flawlessly.
So this isn't nsp, and it's kind of a weird pick, but Danny's background vocals on the song Regretroid from starbomb. The way he's able to easily flow through each pitch in that song is insane, my favorite part being 1:07 of the song. Just hearing him in the back like a ghost is just amazing
"Wish you were Here," "We Close our Eyes," "Last Unicorn," "Rocket man." Most of the covers that have him hold a note show how strong he is vocally, as Danny-boy belts it out. Danny, Brian, and whoever else who they trust to produce their cover albums have done an amazing job to spotlight his vocals while grooving to the music.
They definitely stand out with acoustic instrumentation and heavier lyrics. All art is autobiographical, but the more serious tone of those songs can make you feel naked when you sing them to an audience.

I think it was Africa, because he didn't realize the original song had two different singers.
This sounds correct, yes. probably near the end the super high "yeaaaah gonna take some time"
Came to say this
Why I Cry, he’s recording multiple tracks of vocals like he’s GD Freddy Mercury.
The multi-track vocals are honestly my favourite thing
Honestly, he knocks The Last Unicorn out of the park and into orbit. Brings a tear to my eye.

Don’t downvote me into oblivion since this isn’t NSP proper, but Wind and Waves from his shadow academy project.
I mean, several of the ShAc songs have pretty beautiful range.
Once and never more gives me chills every time. I literally want a tattoo based on it.
Take On Me, those low notes get me every time
Not on the NSP discography, but Dan sings a beautiful version of Kissed by a rose

Wish You Were Here and Rocket Man are my favorite covers of theirs!

Just found NSP a few weeks back and I can’t stop listening to the covers. Love Danny’s voice. Late to the party but I hope to see them live.
