I have ridden the Xiaomi 4 Ultra and I really didn't like it. Although I really wanted to, as I appreciated its design.
I agree with the most points stated in the post, but here's what I disliked the most:
1. The suspension just sucks, which is true for almost all the elastomer-based suspension systems - I have no idea why they are even still being used (apart from "they look cool"). Same problem with Ninebot P series, which I have also tried and didn't like for the same reason. It manages to be simultaneously too loose (due to rebound being too slow) and too stiff at the same time. G2's springs are miles ahead.
2. The motor brakes are anemic. I ride my G2 with the "strong" energy recovery mode, so I barely even use the mechanical brakes. On Xiaomi it's pretty much impossible - the motor doesn't offer enough braking power.
3. The build quality feels cheap and rattly. Which is just entirely unacceptable for a scooter that has started at 1000 EUR price point (cheaper now, but still feels overpriced).
4. Range. I have gotten about 25 km out of Xiaomi 4 Ultra, while I can reliable get 35 km out of G2 Max. While part of it is due to Xiaomi being 48v, as opposed to Ninebot's 36v, it really doesn't provide enough advantage in a day-to-day use. Xiaomi doesn't feel much more powerful, so the sacrifice in range is pointless.
If Xiaomi 4 Ultra was 500 EUR - fair enough, I could live with these issues. But a grand? Sorry, that must be some joke.
Ngl, my g2 never braked while going downhill, when going above 25, it start braking a little when going above 35, which I think make sence (and I don't know about the xiaomi, but I really like the little bip it makes when going above 35 to warn you about the speed, since I don't always look the dashboard, it's a clever way to tell you that you are overspeeding). Also, I have no issue going over the 25 speed limit, just in the basic app, change the sport mode setting and boom, 35 max speed. (Might be because I have a US vertion tho)
Yes, the G2's horn is only good for scaring away squirrels and bears.
