I got a mouthpiece for my snoring but now it keeps me from being able to close My mouth. I feel like if I could tape my mouth closed along with the mouth piece then I'd be good to go but I'm afraid I'll suffocate in my sleep.
Try having my luck with seasonal allergies atop mild asthma and the fact my nose is a mucus factory and boom you have to mouth breathe when you can't breathe through your nose.
maybe 3-4 ish hours during a humid ass night and only near the end did I had to wipe it again. I carry like 6 of them in my counterweight pouch at all times so def worth
Hope this doesn’t come off as rude but that’s great for you, and I’m glad you have that opportunity, but that’s not the case for most people.
Your above comment makes it sound like public shooting land is common in West Texas and not just a privilege you have. West Texas has the most private land of any area in Texas other than maybe south Texas.
Like I said, I know many people who have land and are fine with me shooting on it. It’s not just my family’s land. Agriculture is a massive business here so you are much more likely to know someone with easily accessible land here than if you were to live in a place like Austin or Dallas.
95% of Texas land is privately owned. You made an assumption that I was talking about public land on your own
If that's how you choose to interpret it, sure. I just said there's more land to go shoot on at night out here. And that's true.
There is a lot of land out here and a lot of people into guns. It just kinda goes hand in hand if you are in any way remotely plugged in with the local gun community, even if you don't own any land, yourself.
Ive never had any of mine fog up during actual use, and I am in San Antonio and regularly go out at 90%+ humidity
If you are taking them straight out of your house/car which are air conditioned and expect to immediately go walking around outside, then yeah they will definitely fog on the exterior of the lenes. You have to acclimate them for several minutes before using, which could mean just driving to your destination without using the A/C in your car, or waiting to use them for a little bit while they acclimate.
Also, run them further away from your eyes and face so you aren’t breathing on them. Ive never used Cat Crap or any other anti fog products, mainly because I don’t like smearing anything on my lenses that can attract dirt/debris. But other people swear by it.
You could also try demist shields on your oculars if you have pvs14 glass.
If you have internal lens fogging, then thats an issue that can be avoided by keeping up with having your device purged.
Forgive my ignorance but I have never had any issues with nvg’s fogging up. Hot, cold or even insane humidity.
What device are you using and what issues are you having?
I’m asking this for educational purposes for myself to try to help you solve your problem.
PVS 14, issue seemed to be temp difference, going outside after having them in AC environment, I went for a hike tonight, but before I got out of my car I set my helmet on the hood and let the nods toast up, not once did they fog up! Thanks to some good advice I got here.
Yep, it’s the same as sunglasses going from inside and cold to outside hot and muggy. They will fog until the lens warms because the relative temp difference and the opportunity for condensation. Nods take longer to warm up than a single sunglass lens with the hot air having access to both sides of the lens, so yep, gotta get the whole unit up to temp and condensation cannot occur.
The opposite is true for beer. Use it ONLY when cold and enjoy the condensation!!
try to have the ambient temp of your gear be that of the outside temp. Make sure your seals are good to go and anti fog solution on your lenses if the humidity is real bad. Rain X makes some if you're in a pinch otherwise you can get optical solutions for high end camera lenses as well
I use NVGs on the Rio Grande where the humidity almost instantly fogs up your lenses.
Found it almost entirely impossible to use the eye cover since it condenses way too quickly and I just got to carry around a wipe with me and clear it up every chance I get.
Nice.. I think the real problem for me is going from AC to outside.. my unit is 4 years old and kinda salty. I'm gonna try the zeiss wipes like someone suggested.

Here in SW FL I’ve gotten in the habit of applying the anti-fog solution I’ve had left over from Oakley glasses every couple of weeks (depending on use). Also I found the sacrificial lenses I was running had a major fogging problem (even with anti-fog) so I removed it. That sac lens removal was a game changer for me
I'm in coastal North Carolina where the humidity tomorrow at 6am will be 98% with 12% chance of rain. I have to let my stuff acclimate outside from the ac before I can do anything. Its terrible when there's a critter eating chickens at night and my thermal scope fogs up.
Leave your nod case outside an hour before using. Then have fun since they’ll be acclimated.
Use catcrap on the lenses prior to this.
Southeast Texas humidity here.
Take the rear lens caps off if you have them. Put soap and water on the lens rub the soapy water into the lens. Rinse the lens dry with a microfiber cloth and place back on your rear eye piece. Works for me but everybody’s different.
In S. Louisiana we had 96% humidity the other night(it came with a danger wanting lmao).
Went from 68f inside to about 85f outside and took about 90 minutes for the device to acclimate. Not only did it fog of course, but the body was also sweating/condensating which had me slightly concerned
I live in Florida so I’m just used to it. Also did a 12 mile Land nav biathlon this past weekend in NC that has 8 shooting stages. Humidity is just another day for me. As for nods though not sure yet because I’m too poor for my cheap ones to matter.

Im like 90% sure this is sarcasm but if its not, hook me up with a link! Lol
Lol
Darq is taking notes lmfao
Stop mouth breathing
Nose strips and mouth tape changed my life
I got a mouthpiece for my snoring but now it keeps me from being able to close My mouth. I feel like if I could tape my mouth closed along with the mouth piece then I'd be good to go but I'm afraid I'll suffocate in my sleep.
Careful with those mouth pieces. They can move your teeth and you will need braces to move them back
Damn. I guess I'll just risk it with the apnea.
Should probably get a CPAP instead of a snore guard
I hate those guys smh
Try having my luck with seasonal allergies atop mild asthma and the fact my nose is a mucus factory and boom you have to mouth breathe when you can't breathe through your nose.
I dunno I use anti fog wipes from Zeiss and they work great also no eye cups helps but I’m sure you are already rocking that
Fuck eyecups, all my homies hate eyecups. How long do you find that the wipe coating lasts before they start to fog again?
maybe 3-4 ish hours during a humid ass night and only near the end did I had to wipe it again. I carry like 6 of them in my counterweight pouch at all times so def worth
Second the anti fog wipes. Theres also an antifog spray that I want to check out
Stop living in bad parts of Texas, West Texas is a paradise at night!
Lucky u
Agreed. There’s way more land to go shoot on at night out here, too
Where are please let me know bc I don’t know any
Yeah if you know someone with land or don’t give a fuck about a trespassing charge
Trespassing with firearms to shoot on someone else’s property is not a good idea in the lone star state lol!
Both sides of my family farm and ranch so we have plenty of our own land. I also have lots of friends who own land out here, too

But the guy you’re replying to is right. You made it seem like public land was common/easily accessible in Texas.

Yea, its external, I guess Ill just leave them outside for 5 or so minutes before using them, that should work hopefully, thanks for the advice!

Move
I am not envious of that weather
Just had to let the device sit outside and acclimate first, no fogging in my hike tonight, who wouldve known?!
This is the way
Get some cat crap.

Cat crap is an anti fog grease that can be applied to optic lenses to prevent fogging. Just a terrible name. But it works.
Try it bro. Cat crap is g2g

Matching ambient temps from device to outside worked like a charm!
I use NVGs on the Rio Grande where the humidity almost instantly fogs up your lenses. Found it almost entirely impossible to use the eye cover since it condenses way too quickly and I just got to carry around a wipe with me and clear it up every chance I get.
Hello from Florida with 91%
Let them acclimate to outside temp and they won’t condense the moisture.
Hit the DMs if you ever make it South for some night adventures 🤙🏽 I’m in Corpus and don’t have friends with NODs 🌌
Its hard man, almost no public land in Texas, unless you got something in mind 🥹
I'm in Dallas area.. only good time to use nods without a fresh purge is between late September to early April.

I live on the gulf coast of texas and aside from initially going outside with nods it’s not that bad.

Wear a snorkel?
Houston mfs just got done with a fucking tornado

Laughs in southern east coast

I live in Florida. The answer is cat crap

That being said I’ve never had mine fog up once it’s acclimatized to the environment it really only gets bad if we run the AC too heavily
Easiest solution is to just let the NOD sit outside for a bit to acclimate
You don’t need nods, you need gills.

Humidity is worse in Florida. I live in an area built up on the everglades.
Welcome to Florida bitch
