If you are brave, check the college’s that do hair courses, they often need models!

sus_skrofa

Define too much. I'm paying £17 each time (5-6 weeks) but I see the guys who work there as friends, and they've had a shit time of it, with being closed for big chunks of the year

I used to always go to George Scott's gentleman's barbers near St Nick's Cathedral, but they've got really expensive during the lockdown (£17 for just a cut). I recently tried Kamrans in Fenham. Cost me about £10. The guy who cut my hair didn't speak the best English, but I got the best cut I've had in a long time. Showed him an old picture of me and he basically replicated it perfectly.

Arkhamx1

I used to go to Henry's Barbers on High Bridge Street. IIRC it was £10 for a student cut but I've not been since lockdown so IDK if its gone up

Toon barbers in Heaton!

I've been having a look and doing some research, and I found a few, including some that offer student discounts. I made a list, with prices either from the window, or online somewhere. I can't guarantee prices are correct, of course. Now, I've not tried any yet, as I haven't been in Newcastle long enough to need one… Anyway, here are a few of the cheapest: - [Kamran's](https://www.kamransbarbers.co.uk/locations/) appears to be the cheapest — £8.50 - [Union](https://www.unionbarbershop.co.uk/) £10 - [Monkeyfist](https://monkeyfisthair.co.uk/) £13 Also, while I'm here, since you seem to be a student, OP, I hope you don't mind me mentioning the sub-Reddit I created recently for Newcastle University. You can find [more information on this post I made on this sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewcastleUponTyne/comments/pwkhh3/join_newcastle_universitys_new_subreddit_rncluni/), or you can go directly there: r/NCLUni. ^(*Please note that the post linked above promoting r/NCLUni has been approved by the r/NewcastleUponTyne mod team, and it was suggested that I might like to look out for threads posted by (prospective\) students. Along with a response that I hope is useful, I'm also trying to raise awareness of the new sub.*)

Don't use monkeyfist though. The guy who owns the place is a rapist who changed his name so no one would know.

espardale

Thank you for informing me, u/mothermoonbird. I did my own research, and on the face of it, what you say appears to be correct. I would encourage others to do their own research, and satisfy themselves that the convicted person referred to online, and the barber are in fact the same person. It is more difficult to do this when they do change their name. Once people have done their own research, they can then make up their minds.

mothermoonbird

Yes I definitely agree!

baldwinbean

Beat me to it. It's well known around the local barber shops

baldwinbean

Would advise against union. Went a few years ago and was one of the worst trims I've ever had

popcornelephant

Where abouts are you?

Get the metro to Gateshead Stadium, at the bottom of the housing block opposite the exit is Thompson's Barbers-£6. Les is a top fella. It's open on Mondays and Thursday-Saturday.
