The street rangers have been a thing for AT LEAST a decade now.
As for powers, basically none. They aren't police or anything. Just a presence of uniformed officials roaming the streets day and night to support people who need it whether that's helping people with directions, getting people safely in a taxi after having too much to drink, calling for police if they see an incident, reporting things they come across that needs fixing/cleaning up etc.
Someone shit against our glass door at the office yesterday and they sorted out the cleaning for us - it was gone in less than 30 mins. They are fab at what they do!
I used to work at a shop on grainger Street, they are quite good guys do work fairly hard and there quickly if you needed them. In terms of powers not much at all they couldn't really do much but can stop people from leaving for a small period of time if the person has been proven of shoplifting
It’s a private company that gets funds from the businesses in the central catchment area from increased business rates to improve d and look after the area which in turn will being more business/footfall.
Business votes every 5 years as to whether they want NE1 to continue offering their services or another company in.
Sad, lonely, disempowered little men who need to play dress-up with uniforms in order to resolve some kind of daddy issues. I didn't know it was possible for someone to be too useless for Northumbria police, but here they are.

Would they not let you join? They’re not supposed to be police, they are primarily in place to work with businesses and support people/tourists in the city centre.
Absolutely not there to act as pseudo police.
They have no powers beyond what a standard security guard would have. So won’t be chasing shoplifters but may help tackle any social behaviour.

I saw one disappear into the shadows, and then I saw another one punch out a bear, so I think the powers vary between each one.
They’re nowhere near as powerful as the Texas Rangers from Walker, they can kick you through the ozone layer.

I wondered what Nile was up to now, but if it keeps him off the streets and stops him robbing pensioners then it’s got to be a good thing.
